Extended BFers - what kind of bra do you wear?

Am I the only one still wearing nursing bras after 18mths? Or does another suitable lovely yet practical bra exist?

Tatties, I was told by a BFC that it was OK to go back to underwired bras after a year as long as you didn't pull the wire over your breast and you didn't wear it all day.
so I wear my normal bras now

PigeonPie · 18/10/2006 21:56

Yes, but Harpsi, how do you actually feed in an underwired, non accessible, bra?

harpsichordcarrion · 18/10/2006 21:58

I pull the cup down i.e. I pop the breast out
I tend to only wear cheap bras, because they get a bit trashed

NotQuiteCockney · 18/10/2006 22:00

I wear soft cups, just because I got hooked on them while pg with DS2. I am not as ... ahem ... extravagantly norked as hc, though.

I undo them at the back, and lift them up. DS2 only really feeds at home.

Tatties · 18/10/2006 22:01

Oh really? Oh good! I am really sick of these ones. I take it it's easy enough to pull the cup down then. Do your bras stay in good condition with the extra use? I normally go bra-less in the evenings so that's not a problem.

X-posts there! Ok so you either pop the breast out or completely undo at the back. Hmmm... Ds still feeds ALOT atm... Maybe I'll just try a few on and see which ones are accessible without too much fiddling!

Underwire are definately ok after a year, they're probably ok before, as long as you're careful about fit, and not ever letting the wire dig into your breast.

hoxtonchick · 18/10/2006 22:09

dd is 15 months. i wear rather nice underwired ones from bravissimo. so nice to wear proper bras again. you do have to rather pop your norks out, but hey...

NotQuiteCockney · 18/10/2006 22:10

Oh, hey, hc, want to visit over half term? We are essentially unscheduled.

NotQuiteCockney · 18/10/2006 22:10

Or we could meet up at Hackney City Farm? DS2 is madly in love with the pigs and guinea pigs. And I hear the cafe has reasonable food.

MrsApron · 18/10/2006 22:13

I wear the gorgeous anita ones from figleaves
underwired with a drop cup - bliss for the underwire lover.

15 months of no shape was enough for me.

hoxtonchick · 18/10/2006 22:15

hi nqc. 'fraid we are pretty booked up at half term (2 x grandparents as i'm working 2 days, then we're all off to paris for 4 days). are you around this weekend? the farm is great, & the food is fab. will e-mail.

NotQuiteCockney · 18/10/2006 22:15

Do email, we are entirely unbooked this weekend, I think (after two or three insane weekends in a row). I know I must go to the farm this weekend, though, DS2 is absolutely bloody bonkers for those pigs.

NotQuiteCockney · 18/10/2006 22:16

Oh, what are you doing in Paris? We spent a week there at Easter, on a boat. Was fun, if slightly nauseating ...

popsycal · 18/10/2006 22:17

i was wearing nursing bras til recently - ds2 is 19 months....

i bought some cheap underwired ones as I am sure i will change size when he stops feeding
still wear nursing bras when going to be at home as he feeds more then
but if we are going to be out or when i go to work i happily get rid of them

popsycal · 18/10/2006 22:17

i also do what harpsi does when wearing a none nursing bra and am at home...

popsycal · 18/10/2006 22:18

easy to pull the cuo down if you slightly slip the strap off your shoulder

FrannyandZooey · 18/10/2006 22:19

I wear normal ones with as much underwiring as money can buy

and padding

there is not much actual breast left after 3.5 years of feeding, in my case

popsycal · 18/10/2006 22:20

sorry for multiple posting but keep reading a bit of the thread then replying....
underwired with drop cup!??!?
where where?

Monologue · 18/10/2006 22:21

Eek, not supposed to pull wire up over boob? Back to basics for me.

Monologue · 18/10/2006 22:22

Mothercare Popsycal. In my experience. Watch the sizing though, pays to try before you buy

Tatties · 18/10/2006 22:26

On you go NQC

Thanks everyone, think I will have a look at Figleaves for my Christmas present

OP posts:
Sophiev73 · 18/10/2006 22:27

Just checked out figleaves in excitement but no, they don't do underwired ones in my size...AGAIN!!! Grrrr....

MrsApron · 18/10/2006 22:36

Oh are you a 32 - sorry.

Bit worried myself actually as I am currently in a 34 and I suspect it will be too big soon. Although the amercians apparently all wear underwired drop cups so may hunt about for an american one.
