Breastfeeding in public...

I'm new to all this so bear with me please :-)

My LO is only 8 days old & so far we have been house bound after c-section so been concentrating on trying to get to grips with BF rather than thinking of doing it in a discreet manner in preparation for being out & about.

Does anyone have any useful tips? As our first planned venture is for next week when we go to register her birth.

I've got a mums scarf but find it quite fiddly to use & worried that if I feel flustered/agitated trying to feed in public it will make it worse for baby should she need to feed whilst we are out.

I have a bugaboo and a breastfeeding apron Hmm

Anyway I still don't see what's wrong with an apron if that's what the woman wants. DD2 is now 8 weeks and I haven't used it yet. I'm going to a lunch do with my work tomorrow and I will be bring it. I work in software and everyone except 2 (me and another mum) would be male. It is with this type of situation where I use my bebe au lait. It's not about me being embarrsed. I found some men can get uncomfortable and I'd rather spare them the embarrsed look. Surely even seeing a woman out bf is a good thing, whether she has a cover or not? Or maybe it's that I don't mind announcing to the world that I'm breastfeeding?

I mean at the lunch there will be two females (including me) and a lot of males.

Two then you're clearly not in the clique of women I am talking about. Wink They look my apron up and down with disdain! Same with my own brand pram.

Same as you ... I don't use the apron if I think it's ok, but sometimes I do.

I agree, if a woman is feeding her child she should do it as she wants to! Apron or not. Exactly what I was trying to say ...
Also good point about it making it clear you're feeding. Hiding your boob/belly and hiding the fact you're feeding are NOT the same thing! Smile

Yep I used to wear my normal clothes. Although loved those H&M tops, brilliant. I found H&M tended to have real opening buttons whereas other brands would have false ones.
