I just want to have a stupidly proud moment - am still breastfeeding 7 weeks on! Never thought I would get this far - gave up after 6 days with ds1. Have to thank MN for it - the advice given to people that I have read over the last 3 years stuck in my head, and I just kept at it. Past the horrible first couple of weeks, and doing it without thinking now. That's it, just a gloat!

you should be very proud, well done

moondog · 25/06/2006 10:32

That's brilliant Bouj!
MN has been so helpful to so many people.

Will keep on bumping this so that we can all share in your pride.

Well done you!!!
Gloat away girl!!

EmmyLou · 25/06/2006 11:03

Well done Bouj - that feeling of achievement is so great, especially after things not going so well the first time around. You should be very proud of yourself!

Keep up the good work!

moondog · 25/06/2006 15:33

Bump for the lovely Bouj.

amber5 · 25/06/2006 15:36

well done bouj, it gets easier from now on. you'll be back in a year (or so) wanting to know how to stop

moondog · 25/06/2006 15:37

That's a point...

beansprout · 25/06/2006 15:46

Well done Bouj! The hardest bit is now done. Congratulations for persevering!!

hunkermunker · 25/06/2006 15:52

Hooray! Well done you, Bouj - here's to the next x weeks and months

FlameBoo · 25/06/2006 15:57

Yay! I am sooo pleased for you! I'm up to 17 weeks after stopping about 10 with DD, and am trying to support my step sisters in the same way.

Soon you'll be baffled as to why anyone would voluntarily stop

SoupDragon · 25/06/2006 16:35

Yay!

Well done Bouj... and are you enjoying it ???

bumbleweed · 25/06/2006 17:15

good for you - the first few weeks are bloody tough, so well done

Twiglett · 25/06/2006 17:19

gloat away ... well done you

I remember when I got past my own particular sticking point of 6 months .. and thinking the only reason I made it past was MN

it just gets easier and easier doesn't it

2plus2plus1 · 25/06/2006 19:57

I was just about to start a similar thread. I failed to educate myself about BFing before birth, and did it 'cos it had to be easier than bottles. I was so wrong (to date), and almost went into shock at the commitment. I only just got through the 1st growth spurt with the help of MN, and have educated myself on other issues since using other's threads. I don't think I have quite reached the stage where it easier than bottles (am at 9wks) but hey I havn't thought of quitting for a whole 10 days+ .
Three cheers to the helpful MNetters!
p.s. when I look back at some of the messages of support from strangers it brings a tear to my eye (it was floods at the time!).

bramblina · 25/06/2006 19:59

Well done Bouj! Isn't it just wonderful?

moondog · 25/06/2006 20:01

Gosh and good for you 2plus2!!
Give it another couple of weeks.
You will see the light.

SoupDragon · 25/06/2006 20:02

2plus2plus1, it is easier than bottles - provided you remember to take your breasts with you, you've always got your baby's food with you And you don't have to sterilise your breasts or refridgerate them or warm them... Well done to you too!

2plus2plus1 · 25/06/2006 20:08

I'm certainly not planning a boob 'amputation'! But could make feeding while I was out easier - wouldn't have to expresss...

moondog · 25/06/2006 20:12

Why are you expressing when you go out 2plus???

2plus2plus1 · 25/06/2006 20:17

When I go out alone - so DP can feed (sorry if misunderstood). Still wouldn't trust her not to need a feed while I was out even if it was only an hour. Hasn't settled down that much yet...

moondog · 25/06/2006 20:19

Oh I see!
I thought you were expressing to feed in public for some reason.

Won't be long now though, and you will be able to leave her for longer.

ellemo · 25/06/2006 20:32

You gloat away. Its an achievement. I feel dead proud too that I BF both my boys.DS1 up to 6 & 1/2 months & I am still BF DS2, he's 20wks. I too had some very good advise - no matter what just persevere for 2 weeks - and I did and after those two weeks the agony was gone & it felt like the most normal thing in the world. Mine were big boys too - 9lb4 & 9lb3. You keep at it. Well done

suzi2 · 25/06/2006 20:38

good on you - have a gloat!

and there's loads more gloating to come in the following weeks...

vnmum · 25/06/2006 20:47

well done bouj, and 2plus2plus1. keep up the good work and it does get easier and feels like its just part of everyday life. well it does to me(ive been going 7 months and love it)i have to admit that i did nearlly waver at 6 weeks and the growth spurts are hard but with support from others it gets you through.
