What will happen to my breasts post feeding?

Just curious, I was a 34b, and am now 34DD while feeding, I was and am a size 8-small 10 (tall so a bit underweight) so think they will go small again, do they sag a lot from experience, or just decrease in size?

I started a 34B, went to a 34DD when feeding as well, but only ever went down to a 34D. That said, I was still feeding once a day at that size and then got pregnant again, so I haven't really had a chance to see what would happen if I totally stopped without a new pregnancy. Just went back up to a DD after DS2 was born.

On the upside, no sagging. Yet.

Andcake · 23/06/2013 11:54

Breasts got smaller a bit. Bf was just a horrid experience for us 6 months of hell and then boobs got small. Bf actually puts me off another baby.

fuzzywuzzy · 23/06/2013 11:58

I bf two children the last one 7mths ebf.

Initially after stopping they feel deflated, and sad. Then they fill out again. I have no sagging or anything they are as perky as ever and slightly fuller than they were pre-babies.

My two are now 10 and 8. I'm in my mid 30's

Branleuse · 23/06/2013 12:03

mine went from 30b/c to around a 36G, and then back down again, with each pregnancy and they subsequently looked like empty bags of stretched wrinkly skin after 3 pregnancies.

Breastfed for 4 months, then 10mths, then 6mths, but they were screwed after the first one.

Tbh though, i think most of the damage was done by the pregnancy rather than the feeding, so not sure i could have avoided it.

Ive had them uplifted now, as im not having any more children. Still glad i breastfed.

Helpyourself · 23/06/2013 12:04

I'm the same size as you OP and fed for nearly 4 years! Three dcs. 10 years on I'm 32B and still pass the pencil test.

tumbletumble · 23/06/2013 12:07

Mine are 36E after bfing 3 DCs. That's slightly bigger than they were before (36DD). I don't think they are droopier now - not much anyway!

SpooMoo · 24/06/2013 15:58

Research has shown sagging is caused by pregnancy and ageing, not breastfeeding, so the damage is done iyswim!

BabyStone · 24/06/2013 16:08

I was a size 8, 30D pre baby. By 12weeks I was 32E, don't know what bra size I was at the end but I had put on 2 stone and was size 12. I bf for approx 2ish weeks and my chest is now quite saggy, need to get remeasured but probably around a 30/32 B/C. Im 25 and very disappointed with my saggy breasts
I think it just depends on the person really :(

combinearvester · 24/06/2013 18:07

First DC a bit baggier but okay, second DC totally annihilated Grin. Depends on the person. Boobs are going to look rubbish & saggy when old BF or no BF so you/baby might as well make some use of em imho :)

HopHopHopSplash · 24/06/2013 18:23

DD is 9 month and still bf, was just wondering to prepare myself!!
Is there any exercises to help keep them firmer?

They're the only part of me that's at all curvy/figure-like, Sad so hoping they don't completely flop!! It's interesting that it's pregnancy that affects them rather than bf. Does that mean they'd be sagging a fair bit now if they're going to be really bad or can you not tell really?

MewlingQuim · 24/06/2013 18:24

My boobs went from a 32D pre pregnancy to a massive 32G post birth, then settled at 32E during bf. When I stopped bf after 1 year they shrivelled to nothing for a while and I was Shock thinking they would stay like that, but they firmed up and look fine now. They are smaller than pre pregnancy but I have lost about 10kg so I'm smaller everywhere, i am now about a 30C I think.

YoniBottsBumgina · 24/06/2013 18:27

Mine haven't changed at all post BF, but I did BF for four years Blush so maybe they just forgot what they were like before Grin

BTW have you been on the bra intervention threads? Your size seems classic of one which has been "marks and spencered" and you might be surprised to find you're bigger than you think.

MewlingQuim · 24/06/2013 18:28

I agree with combine it all sags eventually Grin

MewlingQuim · 24/06/2013 18:30

I think bf delays the effect hop

HighInterestRat · 24/06/2013 18:33

Mine were perfect before bf. Sad

I am still the same size but the way I fill a bra ha changed considerably. Grin

Vakant · 24/06/2013 18:38

It's by breast feeding that causes saggy boobs, as someone has already said it is pregnancy/weight gain then loss/ageing that causes it. I was a 34b pre baby, went up a cup size whilst feeding, and am now back to b cup and my boobs don't look any different.

mumofapirate · 24/06/2013 18:38

mine we 36b before pregnancy, 2 babys later (last one I bf for 2yrs) and there a 34f and feel and look alot better than they did b4 unless like another poster has said I might of forgot what they were like.

Purplehonesty · 24/06/2013 18:42

I was 34a before 34dd whilst feeding and now dd is 1 and I am still feeding I reckon I am a saggy 34b
When I'm done I think they will be like little tiny saggy tea bags
Hmm

lottieandmia · 24/06/2013 18:42

I have to disagree that it is pregnancy that causes breasts to sag - at least for me. During my first pregnancy my boobs were the same all the way through the pregnancy as they had been pre-pregnancy. It was all the inflating and deflating of feeding that turned them empty looking and sad.

However, I hear that some people's breasts are fine after feeding so it does vary from person to person.

lottieandmia · 24/06/2013 18:44

Oh and I was 23 by the time my boobs were ruined so it couldn't have been down to aging.

Vakant · 24/06/2013 18:49

My post should say its NOT by breast feeding that causes sagging.

If sagging was caused by breast feeding then formula feeders wouldn't get saggy breasts would they?

Vakant · 24/06/2013 18:50

And it's not just ageing either! It's just one factor that could be contributing to it.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 24/06/2013 18:52

Mine were fine/same after two bouts of bf. I think it's the only part DC didn't wreck Grin

AnythingNotEverything · 24/06/2013 18:56

Can I whisper a supplementary question?

I'm too shy to start a whole thread ... But what about nipple sensitivity? There's so much talk of your nipples toughened up in the first few weeks of feeding, I wondered if they're ever, you know, good for fun again.

Sorry for the hijack OP.

Vakant · 24/06/2013 18:57

My nipples are fine, no change in sensitivity! Smile
