Sorry, i know there have probably been hundreds of threads about this already but i didn't look!

I am expected our first baby in July - have decided that i will be bottle feeding the baby but am a bit unsure of the for's and against's with different type's of milk.

I know there are lots of options, SMA, Cow & Gate etc etc but just wondered how you go about choosing which formula to use?

Any idea's welcome

Thanks

Yeah I love that advert for J&J...1 in 8 MW use J&J on their babies...small print at the bottom, 172 MW asked. Well thats a comprehensive survey then.

I think some babies get given a bottle without their mothers even being consulted - sorry, dinosaur, wasn't saying you shouldn't be concerned about it, just that you needn't feel guilty as well.

What is TCM?

Ohhhh - what was he given? All I've ever heard about seem to have been disgusting black medicines. Did he get something like that or was it a skin preparation?

How old was he when you started it? Did you actually see a practitioner first or do you just go to the shop and show them? ds1 has awful patches of eczema sometimes, and very dry skin anyway, we've tried all the conventional things and he just gets on with it but I wouldn't mind trying something else. (His started much later than dd2's and seems to be atopical.) (Do I mean atopical? Mostly caused by contact with things?)

Sorry, Jems, hijacking your thread here!

Blimey - i missed a bit yesterday!

Would just like to say thankyou to those who mentioned the fact i hadn't had many response to my actual question - that was the case.
HOWEVER, i am sooooo lacking in knowledge on this front as a whole i did take everything everyone said as good advice and even printed the thread off to show DP - I did not take offence to anyone's comments regarding "Try it and see"!

Anyway, having now read through everyone's comments i feel alot better about the whole situation - i haven't made up my mind but i feel confident enough now that whatever decision i do come to regarding feeding i will have done my research and taken on board other people's advice and therefore be in a better position to make such and important decision.

Thanks again to everyone, you ahve all been a great help in one way or another

I hope your DH wasn't offended, SC. For all I know, his feed mixing skills may be exemplary.
Best wishes on your happy event!
