EBF DS has not done a poo for a fortnight...

I keep telling myself this is fine, but is it?
EBF, 16lbs, 18 weeks old and we live in a hot country. Plenty of wet nappies ( at least 5-6 a day), is not dehydrated and has just been through a developmental spurt, as of today he is obsessed with rolling over and over and over.

No HVs here and it's not really a BF culture, so any help ould be appreciated...

Ta.

Another one whose EBF babies could all go for 2 weeks without a poo, and regularly did.

I talked to the GP on the phone and she said as long as his tummy is soft, he's wind, not vomiting and seems happy then it's fine. Which is good, tied in with what I thought. She was the youngest GP and said she BF her own baby so knows what it's like. Quite relieved there is someone at the clinic who has BF herself as the first doctor I saw when registering just went on about FF and weaning, which put me off.

Alpine, chill TFO.

I recommend you stock up on wipes and kitchen roll miffster , and carry a couple of changes of clothes for both of you at all times!

My money's on tomorrow afternoon as p-day, anyone care to have a little side bet?

Miffster · 20/04/2011 21:11

Warm water is very relaxing - good for getting babies bowels moving Grin

therethere · 20/04/2011 21:22

Go for it! Maybe....

Miffster · 20/04/2011 22:16

well, the pool remained blue...and the bath afterwards was fine too.
I bet he does it when we are meeting DH's work associate and her DH for lunch over the Easter weekend, the first smartish meal out since he was born...

My ds was the king of storing it up for the swimming pool. It is impressive, a topic you never thought you'd be interested in!

HipHopOpotomus · 20/04/2011 23:41

Oh this thread has made me smile. Hope your DS goes before the lunch. Dd was ebf and was usually a 2-3 poo a day child for months - but a couple of times she stopped (I thought growth spurts too op) and I recall the wait for poonami too! Some days I just didn't want to go out - once it arrived it would be an "all hands on deck" moment.

Eagerly awaiting update!

Miffster · 21/04/2011 03:01

heh, thanks for the support and side bets ladies.
Still no poo, it's 9pm here on Weds night and I think tomorrow may be the day...

Is it wrong that I keep checking to see if he has been yet?! Hmm

but i will be back later to check !

silkenladder · 21/04/2011 20:08

MW told me up to 30 days is possible.

stleger · 21/04/2011 20:52

30 days? Good grief!

NotQuiteCockney · 21/04/2011 21:15

As long as the poo, when it comes, is still soft (no rabbit poop) then it's not really constipation, iyswim - it's just a very effective gut (and effective food).

I think the BF rates in the US are higher than here, but, as here, there are regional/economic/social variations. The very short maternity leave provision there doesn't help! But nonetheless, I looked it up a while back, and Americans BF waaaaay more than Brits do. The rates of exclusive BF are higher, too.

I'd agree with not doing anything about it (ok, maybe warm bath, baby massage) as long as your baby seems well.

Any poo news to report Miffster?

Miffster · 23/04/2011 03:44

Thurs was actually day 17, today was day 18 and STILL NO TURDS.

Yikes.

Tomorrow we have the posh brunch with DH work people, what do you think will happen???

I am peturbed that babies have been known to poo in pools, I thought this was a myth. Took him for a swim today anyway. He is having 3 baths a day, massage, doing 45 minute boob-fests, milk coming out of his ears, but not a poo in sight.

ItsallabouttheBunnyBunnyBunny · 23/04/2011 19:41

Any poo yet?

Miffster · 23/04/2011 23:00

No but the farts could gas a family of badgers from 20 paces!
DH has taken him ot the supermarket ( it's 5pm here). We managed to do the posh brunch with no pant explosions...

cordiality · 25/04/2011 10:34

My DH just asked me if there is any news on the little boy that won't poo! He's obsessed!

Anything to report?

Miffster · 25/04/2011 14:26

What do you have in the way of designer clothing?

A white Armani jacket, a lovely little Gucci cream silk blouse, anything along those lines? Put your expensive clothes on, pop him in a sling and bang! the shitstorm will come....
