YY - I am just on autopilot, if I see bfing, I check the latch. Blush

peppapighastakenovermylife · 19/01/2011 21:36

I feed like that all the time? If she fed from the left one then we would all see her right one and the world would be in complete outrage?

theresapotatoundermysink · 19/01/2011 21:41

I feed like that sometimes too, if one sides done and I don't want to move I just swing the other one over Grin.

peppapighastakenovermylife · 19/01/2011 21:54
Grin
gaelicsheep · 19/01/2011 21:55

Lol peppa, I thought that too!

I think it's probably posed, but I don't care because it's a lovely picture. I discovered feeding from the top breast quite recently and it's great as it saves swapping sides in the middle of the night.

theresapotatoundermysink · 19/01/2011 21:58

gaelic, you just managed to phrase what I was trying to get at far more eloquently. damn.

NowWhatIsit · 19/01/2011 21:59

Well now I'm learning, gonna try my new moves tonight.....
Wasnt trying to detract from it, it is a lovely pic

gaelicsheep · 19/01/2011 22:03

And there's me thinking "damn, she already said it 15 mins ago with more pith" Grin

I love this picture! I so wish I had some pictures of me bf. I also wish I could feed from the top boob but I've never managed it yet! Is there a technique? Or does it depend on how bendy the norks in question are?

FunnysInTheGarden · 19/01/2011 22:22

Lovely, but whats the big thing about no pain relief? Why is that a badge of honour?

gaelicsheep · 19/01/2011 22:25

Lol, that would be telling. Let's just say they're not what they were... I've only managed it since she was around 5 months and more bendy herself!

gaelicsheep · 19/01/2011 22:26

It isn't the most comfortable, but when you're in bed with a motion sensitive nuclear device it's worth the effort!

ReshapeWhileDamp · 19/01/2011 22:32

Top-boob feeding isn't hard but I think you have to have a certain amount of 'give' in your boobs. Grin I did this in bed with DS1 when he was older (over 1) but have just started trying it with DS2 who is 4 weeks and if he's hungry enough, he'll go for it! You need to lean your top shouler in, and maybe guide the breast towards the open mouth.

NowWhatIsit · 19/01/2011 22:38

can you snooze like this or will you fall on top of babe?

ReshapeWhileDamp · 19/01/2011 22:39

Gah. Just looked at The Mirror link. Actuslly, I think I dislike its straightforward laddishness less than the curtain-twiching, fake-adulatory, prurient tone of the DM article.

And I just spent a minute looking at the photo with a big soppy grin on my face. Yes, of course it's posed - the natural make-up, the carefully arranged top, the baby feeding/sleeping against the top boob so as not to flash a nipple Grin, the smile to camera/husband. But it's still a delightful photo and really celebrates breastfeeding and cuddling your newborn. Makes me happy just to look at it!

If I ever get as far as qualifying as a BFC, I'll use this photo in my teaching.

BertieBotts · 19/01/2011 23:59

Now - I couldn't when DS was tiny but I have been able to for ages now. You'll know in yourself whether you feel comfortable relaxing into sleep or whether you need to stay more alert.

I don't think it matters what size your boobs are. Mine were A cups before pregnancy/breastfeeding (Bs now but still, not huge) and I've always been able to feed lying down, from both sides. It's a very useful skill Grin

peppapighastakenovermylife · 20/01/2011 07:48

I dont think I would have been comfortable going into a proper sleep at night like that when they were newborn. Now DS2 (5 months) is a wriggly little sod I am more than happy Smile

Gaelic 'when you're in bed with a motion sensitive nuclear device it's worth the effort' - Now, now, thats what got you into this situation Wink

Flisspaps · 20/01/2011 08:27

I'd like to add this link from the Mirror also. Much nicer than the 3am piece. Haven't read the DM one.

NowWhatIsit · 20/01/2011 08:48

Well tried top boob move but felt really odd so reverted to jumping over baby in bed to swap sides in night! Oh well, also I guess she's my no 3 so old habits die hard etc.

gaelicsheep · 20/01/2011 13:00

Hey the smileys are all mixed up!

Lol peppa, I read that back and realised how it sounded! Blush

gaelicsheep · 20/01/2011 13:02

That was a blush, in case anyone else is seeing a biscuit.

gaelicsheep · 20/01/2011 13:07

You jump over baby NOw? I roll her over me.

PorkChopSter · 20/01/2011 13:19

Ah but if you roll the baby over the top, you run the risk of a mid-flight posset

Her wrist looks very uncomfortable.

gaelicsheep · 20/01/2011 13:21

Ooh, that's never happened to me. You watch, now you've said it...
