Twiglett picked this up. It's for health professionals. Ordinary mortals aren't allowed on. They want to know exactly what people's statues is within the world of infant feeding.

Looks like they offer heavily logo'd freebies too.

It's unbelievable isn't it?

The idea of preventing people accessing information makes me so angry.
There's the idiot stuff for the mums and the mercenary stuff for the professionals.

OP posts:
milkymouth · 25/08/2005 20:16

True enough nnn,but a good many people will do so. We all give out information about ourselves unthinkingly allowing advertisers to build up a profile.
You don't think that Nectar and Tesco clubcards exist because these companies want to be nice to you do you?

OP posts:
naughtynaughtynoonoo · 25/08/2005 20:16

srry got that wrong they need your address to but u can just put other for job type very easy to register

naughtynaughtynoonoo · 25/08/2005 20:17

well theyre just silly if they fill in stuff they dont have to

they just end up with more junk nmail

milkymouth · 25/08/2005 20:18

My point is still why is this necessary? If it's all fabulous good news, then shouldn't we all be in on it? Lets face it,unlike MN these people don't need to raise money do they?

I see your point entirely but this topic has just gone past the point of being interesting - it's utterly tedious and dull - can't we let the damn thing lie now?

Or, you could post it under 'buying and selling' and then I could opt not to see the threads in active conversations

spidermama · 25/08/2005 20:24

Absolutely giraffe. I'm very interested in this so thanks for the info. Agree also that if someone isn't interested they should pursue a thread which is more to their taste instead of childishly posting 'yawn' which is negative and useless.

spidermama · 25/08/2005 20:25

This is a new line on a current hot topic milup. Go and find a thread you can contribute usefully to.

naughtynaughtynoonoo · 25/08/2005 20:27

but why would would most parents be interested in reading articles aimed at midwifes and the likes

i doubt many of us lot subscribe to the nursing times or other magazine based on their job

spidermama · 25/08/2005 20:27

It's kind of like butting into someone else's conversation to inform them that the stuff they're taling about is boring and wrong.
Says who?

Milumpalumpa · 25/08/2005 20:28

Don't tell me what to do thank you. This is an open forum and if I want to say it's boring, I will.

naughtynaughtynoonoo · 25/08/2005 20:29

unless of course you spend your spare time looking for links to the British Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition website

i copied and pasted that as id never be able to spell it lol

WigWamBam · 25/08/2005 20:30

Can't see why you would want to hang around the threads that you think are boring though. Some of us are interested in this stuff and would like to discuss it without being scoffed at all the time.

milkymouth · 25/08/2005 20:31

I don't agree I'm afraid nnn. I want to know quite a lot about what information health professionals are given, and more importantly, what incentives there are for people who choose to receive this medical information.

It is big,big business. The stakes are very high.
Medical personnel are wined, dined and seduced by such companies.
The person posting puerile comments on this thread under various names knows this better than most of us.

OP posts:
spidermama · 25/08/2005 20:32

I think I'll go off and look for a recipe thread to start telling the original poster what a horrible recipe they've written.
It's an open forum after all.
They'd have no right to find me rude and offensive eh milum?

spidermama · 25/08/2005 20:34

Also nnn, the health professionals this is aimed at are not beyond persuasion. Even subtle adverts can be very powerful. Asd has been said there's no way companies like Milupa would part with their hard-earned cash if they didn't think it would be fruitful for them.
