Chris Rock has been a douchbag to black women all years

I like Chris Rock every now and then but always felt he sometimes crossed the line. However, in the last couple days, his jokes about black women has left a bitter taste. So far there are lots of videos of him, making fan of Beyonce - making fun of her hair. Jada making fun of her hair. Oprah - he literally touch Oprah's hair just to make sure it was real even though she claimed do many times it was her hair. Claimed Oprahs hair as child made her look like slave. Michelle Obama - making fun of her hair. making fun of Tina Knowles for naming her daughter beyonce like tanifa - beyonce is her maiden name. I remember ears ago watching his show on the N word and different types of black people, and when a non black person has the right to use the N word against black person.
Belitle black women's had work by calling those who went to the black women's Milion woman march where Jada pinket spoke and he called the event a shoping spree. They should worry more about what the men are going through.
There is a Graham Norton skit going round where he picks black people from the audience and guesses what job they have. One woman said she was scientist and he just laughed her. The above is just the tip of the iceberg. There are just so many of his race gate keeping jokes I can't stand. Will Smith truly did a disservice becuase Chris rock will use his even bigger platform to antagonise more black women.

It was meant to say "all these years"

This is sad to read. I personally never took to his brand of humour anyway. I felt that he crossed the line with his cheap joke at Jada, especially as he knows how strongly black women feel about their hair. In his film Good Hair, he made light of some of the issues black women face, regarding hair. I felt he was not taking those issues seriously. Just because he is a comedian, does not mean that he had to make quips, throughout the whole film, I felt.

blackandgreen · 02/04/2022 16:14

Meh. No time for the man, he's an ass who steps on anyone Black to promote himself. Especially Black women of talent. Now he's the tool of a certain type of non black. They pretend to him, that he is some sort of hero, but really they are using him to do down Black women further. You only have to look at the many threads, and scornful comments about Jada on the main board.

WS is a fool, he needs to learn to engage his brain. Not sure he can.

All this gives CR a bigger green light to do down Black women. That seems to be his career. Really, I've no time, for men like this, they stoop so low, and sell their own for fame and money.

I guess I sound a bit angry......

Starseeking · 02/04/2022 17:25

He has. I can't stand Chris Rock, he's awful. A disgusting vile human being, reserving his most venomous sound bites for Black women.

However as much as I dislike Chris Rock, I do think Will Smith slapping him like that was stupid and unacceptable.

debbrianna · 02/04/2022 17:44

Will Smith slapping Chris Rock, will be an example to all black people as reminder of being black. Janet can testify to that. However, Chris rock will stand on the back of black women to help him afford a house next to a white dentist. (CR joke).mabe his kids will be able to now take roles of Will smiths kids as he claimed years ago. Or maybe buy a house next to Jada so that he can stalk. Possibly try to kiss her again. Who knows. The fact is he hasn't apologised to Jada..

I was never a fan of CR. But I disagree I think some people need to brought down a peg or 2. Rightly or wrongly .... WS did that and I do not think CR will be in such a hurry to do it again! Nor Will...

debbrianna · 03/04/2022 13:49

To absolutely love this take on the situation and how they articulately really well.
"How to be an allay for black women"

Always look to how this affects the most marginalised
Is right debbriana. I like how she speaks.

QuickQuestionQueen · 03/04/2022 16:39

Saddened to hear all this stuff about CR. As black people we already face too many obstacles, we do not need to mock and publicly denigrate each other.

His joke about Jada's hair was rubbish anyway - as no one appeared to get it. He was flailing on stage. I just want the world to move on beyond this terrible and sorry episode, but I expect that won't happen any time soon.

TheBlackDarner · 03/04/2022 17:10

Out of all of this I'll remember Chris Rock as yet another mediocre showman (like Bernard Manning twenty or so years ago) who thinks it's just fine to humilate black women in front of mainly non-black audiences.

Perhaps we should book a black woman only venue and invite him along to entertain us all...........

TheBlackDarner · 03/04/2022 17:11

*humiliate

No it won't go away in a hurry. Too many people love an opportunity to tear down black men.
Maggiethecat · 04/04/2022 14:58

Sadly he gave plenty of opportunity. Totally unnecessary.

emuloc · 04/04/2022 16:54

Yes, but it is an unfortunate truth that black and brown people are held to a different behaviour standard, than other people.

blackandgreen · 04/04/2022 18:13

That's true. However, men making their dollars out of humiliating black women don't cut the mustard with me.
As a woman, it cuts particularly deep when I see the guy doing this in front of millions of viewers, is a black guy. And it's not just the once he's done it.

emuloc · 04/04/2022 20:11

No, it is not good that he feels the need to take the rise out of black women, for cheap laughs. He has daughters, and will have to answer to them one day.

Dogmum40 · 04/04/2022 20:20

I’m white so apologies for posting on here but it came up on active and I’m glad it did, I’ve noticed he does that and whenever I watch him I have to turn the tv over, he’s awful and he’s especially awful to black women, you ladies have a tough enough time as it is without that arsehole starting on you too! Maybe he needs to quit the academy just like Will did!

blackandgreen · 04/04/2022 20:37

I didn't know about his family @emuloc. My gosh. I was showing my grandaughters video clips of their grandfather, his speech at their mum's wedding. Silly jokes but harmless ones. Imagine the footage CRs daughters will see as described in the OP. Your father describing the million women march as a shopping expedition. Your father mocking Michelle Obama and other black women. I really hope that he reflects on all of this and who benefits from it. Not us. We will see.
emuloc · 04/04/2022 20:47

Yes blackandgreen, It is not in his daughter's interest to be mocking black women, that's for sure. I certainly could not share my life either with any man, who would speak so crassly about black women.

blackandgreen · 04/04/2022 20:52

You know, for all the mud we have to wade through, black women are incredible. Here's to themFlowers

emuloc · 04/04/2022 21:02

Hear, hear!

debbrianna · 04/04/2022 22:19

Mocking other black women isn't the worst for Chris Rocck. He did a whole series of shows humiliating his first wife. Talked about how he cheated on her and ended up with sex addiction.

Not forgetting how he constantly makes fun of will by commenting on Will Smith's coparenting the old child with his ex wife on his Instagram account. There is nothing wrong wishing your ex wife a happy bithday if your whole family get a long.

ToiletPoster · 04/04/2022 22:32

I don't think it's specifically black women. He did coin what seems to be the racists' favourite joke ("I love black people, but I hate....").
I still don't think he deserved a slap for that particular joke.

debbrianna · 04/04/2022 22:41

Interestingly, I think his obsession with black women's hair is not from a healthy place either. It makes sense why the movie/documentary the "Good Hair" has not aged well.

During all of this. The one thing he was being priased for it turns out, he took the idea from a black woman who made a similar documentary showed it to him. That's still CR stepping on another black woman to make a name for himself.

Regina Kimball stated that she showed her 2005 documentary, “My Nappy Roots: A Journey Through Black Hair-itage,” to Rock on the set of his “Everyone Hates Chris” sitcom two years ago. newsone.com/320147/chris-rock-sued-for-5-million-accused-of-stealing-good-hair-movie-idea/
