I am actually quite lost at what people are talking about when they say black women are ugly. It truly seems to me that we have hit the jackpot with what even Western societies consider beautiful.
We tend to get wrinkles older.
We tend to have more roundedness due to muscle tone.
Our skin sags later in life.
Our skin is less impacted by all things ageing like differences in colouring. You can't literally see through our skin to our flesh.
We are less likely to look sickly and pale.
Our curly hair looks voluminous even if it really isn't!
Our lips are full and lovely.
I do. think western societies dislike flat and big noses and apparently black people have more of those, but most African people I know don't have such noses. Not that I think they are ugly anyway, but talking about conventional western wisdom, and many white people have huge honkers!
I'm not saying we are BETTER looking, but even by western beauty standards designed to make us feel ugly, we do quite well.
The only way you can think black women are ugly is if signs of health and youth equal ugly to you.
I really can't understand why dark skin could be considered ugly apart from through a blatant racist lens. When I was younger I had to literally rethink when I looked at black females. I would first not think they were attractive, then tell myself 'that's bullshit'. This was me as a young teenager. Now, I can't stop looking at some of us we are the image of beauty!
Once you see black beauty, you truly can't go back. I plan on making it so that my children never even need to go through the rethinking stage.
