westlondongirl · 28/02/2010 11:59

Hi ladies. Can I join you at this late date? I was due yesterday with my first but he evidently is very comfy in there and shows no immediate signs of coming out.

Grizzer · 28/02/2010 12:04

Congratulations Scooby, glad all ok now. A healthy size little lad!

JasHook · 28/02/2010 12:05

scooby Yay! congratulations on your lovely son, look forward to hearing the name!

Darn. So far the buttons have had little effect. I'm obviously not eating enough of them. May have to branch out into Wurther's Milk Chocolates as well, although the results of the mini egg study are also tempting...

and welcome westlondongirl!

snowflakesarahandco · 28/02/2010 12:45

wow t6his thread is getting very exciting!!! good luck to all of you waiting xxxxxx hope everyone is ok x

Sariska · 28/02/2010 12:59

Congratulations Scooby! Sorry that labour did not go to plan but hope you are feeling ok nonetheless and enjoying your new DS.

Welcome Westlondongirl.

PacificDogwood · 28/02/2010 13:24

May I echo Sariska: congratulations, scooby, and welcome to the world, little boy ! Hope the 'change of plan' was not a terrible one...

Welcome, Westlondongirl!

We had a night of repeated nighttime wakening: DS2's nightmares and then DS1 started being sick from about 4am onwards - we are all tired and grumpy today. Not least because we are obviosuly not visiting my friend with new puppy...

I will definetely join JasHook on the chocolate-eating front; though not to induce labour but to act as antidepressant and energy source .

Henrietta · 28/02/2010 13:36

congrats scooby hoping it wasn't too bad a change
wave to westlondongirl & everyone else.
PS had a bath TMI AGAIN & checked again - cervix seems to be up again so must have misjudged last time. Had a BH this morning that lasted a minute feeling really uncomfortable now, but DH says its got to stay in for another 2 wks till his back is better and he fits the kitchen for work.(do not want firm to go down over paternity leave)

Sariska · 28/02/2010 13:52

Oh, I was wondering about your night, Pacific. Sounds grim. I hope ds1 is getting better and that no-one else catches it (ds3 has had it already, hasn't he?) And I can empathise with the grumpy day. My ds also treated us to repeated wakenings. At one point I retreated to the spare room while dh tried to settle him in our bed. Ds repaid the efforts by peeing copiously and comprehensively through his clothes and all over our mattress. Needless to say we are not a happy family today and, for me, the tired, grumpy feeling is being exacerbated by back ache and cramps. Not a sign of anything kicking off, I don't think - which is probably as well, right now.

annamama · 28/02/2010 15:13

Congrats Scooby and well done posting from the hospital when you were in labour!

Yes Pixie you're a tease, but I knew you were bluffing, ha.

I wonder if Mawbroon has had her baby now?

Ok so February is almost over, I wanted a March baby... so bring it on. But I'm not in labour or even false labour, despite going to soft play again today climbing sliding etc.

Anyone into starsigns? I have been for a while even though I'm normally very anti hippy dippy stuff, haha. Deffo something to starsigns though, ie not horoscopes in the paper but the general charasteristics of your sign. Anyway I'm Pisces myself so I thought it would be nice to have a Pisces baby which most of our babies will be! Last day of Pisces this year is my birthday 19 March, so baby better be here before then.

Congratulations scooby! that's a good healthy weight. Looking forward to reading your 'not to plan' birth story.

Welcome westlondongirl!

Sympathy vibes to those of you who've had bad nights with ill DCs or pg pains. I've been getting really sharp twinges in my groin when I stand up these days. Not too serious I think but enough to make me yelp sometimes.

Had a good day at Deep sea world yesterday (although I'd forgot how expensive it is to get in there!). It was a nice way to spend our last weekend all together with DD as the only child. We also popped in for lunch with friends who's DS2 is only 7 weeks old, so I was quizzing her on her birth and how she's coping. She seemed really fine, so I came away quite reassured!

I'm obviously not the only one obsessively checking this thread for the latest birth announcements...who will be next??

Congratulations Scooby!

No word from Caitni ....

annamama · 28/02/2010 16:08

Pixie - yeah there's lots of things at soft play that I almost didn't fit through, including the rollers... Wow the surprise sounds exciting!

Heckle - no newborn eaten by sharks then? phew...

I too almost feel a little sad that DD soon won't be the only child... I guess it's normal.

BlueyDragon · 28/02/2010 16:55

scooby, congratulations! Hope you're recovering well and enjoying your new baby.

Welcome, westlondongirl. Sariska and Pacific, sorry to hear life's a bit grim today. This too shall pass, right?

BabyDragon is now going to be a Mini Egg, it's official, having hosed the entire packet myself bar 3 yesterday. So what, I can't see my thighs anymore anyway...

Having a calm afternoon as I've despatched DH and DD to a birthday party (DH's penance for his round of golf yesterday!).

Thinking of all those who are in the waiting room.

Caitni · 28/02/2010 17:17

Congrats to Scooby - glad your little boy is here and hope you're recovering well

Just back from a day driving around Essex...I suddenly had to see the sea so off we drove this morning in the heavy rain...unfortunately twinges and low down aches (am with you on the odd yelping heckle!) meant we had to ditch any plans for a walk...but had a lovely lunch in Wivenhoe and am now off to "read the paper", ie fall asleep on the couch. Even while DH very kindly vacuums around me

So nothing really happening here but I feel like baby will eventually make his or her appearance! And hopefully before too much longer...

Wonder how Mawbroon and DrSkid and Smac are doing...and can't wait to hear how TLC has gotten on

Shroomer · 28/02/2010 17:55

Scooby Congratulations on your little Scrappy Doo! You do get a prize for posting from the hospital - i half thought you might post something like 'baby is crowning...'

I had a weird dream (again). I had to have an emergency caes, and just as they were about to put me under, I realised that I didn't have my partner with me. I asked to phone my partner and they handed me a mobile and said 'be quick, we're not on overtime here you know'. But I couldn't dial the correct number because the phone didn't work.

I came round a bit later in the operating theatre and could still feel the baby moving, and yet my bump was smaller. I asked why and they said 'there was a lot of meconium in there'. I asked why they hadn't taken the baby out, but they just sat there in armchairs saying 'I'm not in charge here love'.

Pingpong · 28/02/2010 18:12

Huge congratulations scooby can't wait to hear more about little scoobydoo!
waves to Caitni I'm still here waiting. Had sweep yesterday which was most uncomfortable and have another sweep booked for Monday in a last ditch attempt to encourage this baby out naturally.
Granny mac has been giving me ankle rubs, I've been bouncing, walking up and down the stairs etc etc. . . . .
No sign of IWCAS maybe she got jiggy with baby Daddy and there's been some action there ???
I think mawbroons silence means that baby broon has appeared.
I'll post again tomorrow but my phone isn't fancy and I won't be updating you from the hospital I'm afraid so if I do end up with a section on Tuesday it'll be a while before I'm back - goodness only knows how many more babies there will be by then!

Pingpong · 28/02/2010 18:13

oh and shroomer that dream is weird is it a recurring dream?
When pg with DD my recurring dream was that the feet were coming out first and I kept trying to poke them back in! Like that would help!

congrats scooby and well done. Hope it went OK and enjoy your lovely little (ish!) boy! Looking forward to birth story and name when you are ready...

I dreamt that I had a show and told the midwife (who was my mum!) and she said, "oh don't be stupid darling, it's just a slug that must have got in there somehow and then fell out" - mawbroon (think it was you) I blame you ENTIRELY for this revolting image after saying your show was the size of a slug! Anyway I told her that it was definitely a show and that I know what a show looks like after 2DC, but she didn't believe me at all and started looking round the house for places where the slug could have got into the house!

smac Hope the sweep starts things off tomorrow, and if not good luck for Tues

pixie ooh I wonder what your surprise is - how exciting!

pacific poor you - hope you have a better night tonight

caitni - my DH also gets uncontrollable urges to see the sea on a regular basis - is it an Irish thing? Or just a grew up by the sea thing?

I had a lovely day today, hanging out at the museum with DD, lunch with friends, coffee with more friends and then dinner at more friends' house - feel like I've enjoyed my pre-newborn freedom - tomorrow is March - I am ready for you baby!

We've also asked my ILs to come over from Dublin this weekend as I will be induced on Sunday if nothing happens before then and we think it's a bit much to ask friends to look after the DC for 12 hours or more, plus it's a long time for the DC not to see either of us. So at least that will take some of the anxiety out of it as both DC adore their granny and grandad so it will be a real treat for them

Sweep no. 2 tomorrow, hoping for 'oh my goodness you're already 6 cm and I can see the baby's head' - you never know!

hecklephone · 28/02/2010 20:01

lol at the image of anna squeeeeezing her way through soft play rollers to get baby out!

shroomer that is a weird dream! I've only got as far as thinking I'm in labour in my dreams so far, but not actually dreamed about giving birth yet.

Yes I think iwcas needs to pop in and tell us how her hot date went...?!

so I looked down at my bump this evening and am wondering if it might, just might be heading south? It certainly looks very sticky-outy when I've always been quite high and neat up til now. Hmm, will definitely be asking about possible engagement on Tuesday with the MW.

mawbroon · 28/02/2010 20:04

Copied from the Feb thread.....

No word from mawbroon because I have been in no fit state I'm afraid.

Late last night (was last night Saturday?) I started having regular contractions. They got to 5 mins apart so we went to the hospital where everything ground to a halt and I was told that i was only dilated enough for a fingertip. We got home around 2am and I managed to get a bit of sleep.

I woke again at 5am and things were going well. I was contracting every 3 mins for over a minute each time. This went on for an hour, so thought we should get back to the hospital. Was monitored, temp, blood pressure etc. Then once again, it all stopped. At least I was 2cm at this stage. We stayed at the hospital for 4.5hrs and nothing. Absolutely bloody nothing, so we decided to go home again because we were both really tired.

I managed to get some sleep this afternoon (under the influence of dihydrocodeine) and then all of a sudden I felt sick, faint, dizzy, shaky, hot, cold. Just awful all over basically, and with a really sore pain in my back. I had something to eat and drink and have just had a sleep, but have had no contractions (just a couple of twinges) for hours and hours now.

DS is with granny tonight, so at least if it all kicks off again then I don't need to worry about him.

I saw the doc at the hospital, and she suggested that if things don't get moving in the next 48hrs then it might be an idea to break my waters. However, once my waters are broken, there is kind of a time limit to get the baby out, so they would do a section if no joy.

So, I have no idea why things are so stop/start. It could well be that this is the best my bi cornuate uterus can do. It's not uncommon for them to be rubbish at contracting.

Sorry for the essay. Hope everyone else is ok.

Congratulations to all the lovely arrivals. All with such beautiful names. Really hope those of you due now will not have to wait long. Good luck to everyone having sweeps this week. They tried that on me with dd but cervix was so posterior they couldn't get to it. They want to start sweeps with me at 39 weeks cause of my previous gigantic babies. They are offering to induce on due date but not sure if that is a good idea incase it fails. Only 2 weeks till due date but have ds 5th birthday party on Saturday and his actual birthday the Monday after so really don't want the baby then. Don't think he'd be to pleased. I thought a massive trek round IKEA today would do the trick but just ended up really tired and uncomfortable with 2 ratty kids. Have sent hubby out to get me a KFC. How disgusting is that!!

LouBudd · 28/02/2010 20:19

Mawbroon- you poor thing. Can't believe you even have the energy to type on the computer. You probably have so many things racing through your mind. I think I was 5 cm when I had my waters broken with dd but was in active labour. It worked. You need your husband to give you a relaxing massage which might help you sleep as well. Will be thinking of you and wishing you lots of luck. xx
