Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Wonder what the connection is between breast feeding and bubbles? Not going to argue though - off to France next week, so might buy a couple of bottles to put in the fridge for when baby arrives!

Am getting really sick of 'When are you due?' 'September', 'Gosh, you're huge!'. Is making me very paranoid, not to mention worried about how huge I'm going to be by the time September rolls around!

milward · 05/07/2005 11:50

Kiwifruit - I've been geting the same aren't you big comments - feel like I should have some good excuse for having a huge bump. Even been asked if I'm sure it's not twins!! - some people!!

elasticated · 05/07/2005 11:57

yep - getting the same huge comments although i don't feel like i'm that big yet!
BUT - feeling v v v sick this morning - noooooooooooooooo. Feel like I did in the first 3 months, like I need to keep nibbling dry food - its not nice - very hot which I guess might have somethign to do with it. Got a fan by my desk now but as its not actually that hot here today i think its beginning to annoy everyone around me - ho hum... off to find some biscuits...

jessysmummy · 05/07/2005 12:01

Me too! I've had the "oooh, you weren't as big as this last time round" comments. Doesn't help that I'm already feeling bad about myself as I've not had a chance to go swimming which I did right up until 39 weeks with DD. Just don't have the time - probably spending too much time on MN!

mummyhill · 05/07/2005 12:01

I am getting the same reaction and i don't think that i am all that big. People seem to think that September is ages away yet but if yoou tell them ohh I only have x weeks to go they look at it a little more realistically.

I alternate between saying september or in nine weeks and get a different reaction to how i phrase it. Those i told september said ohh aren't you big where as those i told only 9 weeks left have said i look smaller than they would of expected!!!!!

jessysmummy · 05/07/2005 12:04

Elasticated - I've been feeling sick again too. Had put it down to the weather but now that it's cooled down again I can't blame the heat. Like you, I'm nibbling on everything to try to keep off the queasiness. Hope this isn't going to be with us for the next 10 weeks.

Boompi · 05/07/2005 12:40

Get the same reaction re size - and so now say '9 weeks to go' - and usual reaction is 'not long now'. Think people forget how big a term pregnancy is. If any of us were too big (or too small) the midwives would pick it up as its one of the things they always look for.

Nausea most mornings too - roughly from 830 till 1030 - and as I cant have sugar, having to nibble on carrots and apples. Would love a hob nob or piece of chocolate!

Sleep really poor like some others. Apparently not only size but changes in cortisol peaks really throw circadian rythym out of sync - talk about natures little joke. Just when we need to be well rested!!

LadyLazarus · 05/07/2005 12:58

I have been getting a bit of nausea, and that accompanied by the 'heavy head' feeling I have many mornings, today I seem to have everything and feel like utter crap never mind, there's a good argument going on in the street which has been taking my mind off it!! Not sure exactly what's going on, but so far a young woman has been seen smoking crack (nice) and shouting at various people, an ambulance has been called and has broken their way into someone's house, and the 'old bill' are apparently on their way. Better than telly! The delights of living in London eh?

franch · 05/07/2005 13:22

Hi all, sounds like we're all getting the same reaction re. size ('You're enormous!' 'Are you sure you're not due tomorrow? etc.) Bit of a coincidence that just about everyone on this thread is abnormally huge, huh? Or can no one think of anything else to say to a normal woman in late pregnancy?!

RedZuleika · 05/07/2005 13:35

I haven't had any comments regarding size (possibly because I've still only put on about 9 kilos - although it feels like half of that was last week, so the pace might be hotting up...) but it does really get my goat when people ask when it's due and then say 'Oh - quite a while to go then...'. NO. It's comparatively soon (particularly considering how much diy there is to do) - AND it feels like it's been going on for ever. Gestation period of an elephant...

Incidentally, I've just taken the dog for a walk and seen a very strange shaped bump on quite a slim woman. All pointy and out the front. I had to stop myself staring. (My own bump was concealed under a voluminous anorak belonging to my husband.)

mummyhill · 05/07/2005 14:00

Talking about elephants someone asked me if i was carrying one the otherday!! Honestly if you can't say anything nice to a hormonal pregnant woman keep your trap shut!!!!!

Kiwifruit · 05/07/2005 14:03

OK, that's it. Popped into Formes at lunchtime to see if I could find anything to wear to the upcoming wedding, and the woman asked me how far along I was. '29 weeks' - 'Gosh, you're very big for 29 weeks - ah well, at least it's all out front'. . You'd think they would be a bit more sensitive in a maternity shop!!! Thank goodness I lied and added a week... Think I'm going to hide inside until this baby is born and I'm back to the size I was when I was 12.

On the off chance that I do leave the house and go to this wedding, what do you ladies think of this top with a pair of white linen trousers?
top

PiccadillyCircus · 05/07/2005 14:06

It depends what I'm wearing what sort of comments I get about my size. There's a person at work 6 weeks more pregnant than me and another person said to me "you look much more pregnant than X", but I was wearing a clingy dress (which does make me look more pregnant and is also lovely , but I felt a bit annoyed).

But last week (while wearing same dress again) someone said that I didn't look pregnant from the back at all, which was nicer .

LadyLazarus · 05/07/2005 14:09

kiwifruit - i can't get that link to work

PiccadillyCircus · 05/07/2005 14:11

I can - it looks lovely . Have you tried it on?

Kiwifruit · 05/07/2005 14:14

There's the catch PC, haven't tried it on - just found it on the net at work. Will try and get there this weekend for a try on. Am starting to get a little desperate!

Don't know why it's not working Lady L.

Boompi · 05/07/2005 14:39

Think that will look great on you KF! Lovely.

andif · 05/07/2005 15:05

Def approve of top KF - will look great with linen trousers, and might be good afterwards for all those pre-Christmas parties too!!! (Of course we're all going to become party animals again, aren't we?... )
Mum at school had baby last week and has got bad baby blues - just when I thought there was not too long to go, now I'm worrying about how I'll cope afterwards.....and that's completely ignoring the birth that I'm still trying to block out!!

bubbles2904 · 05/07/2005 15:32

the top is lovely kf, and will look lovely with your "normal sized" bump. lol. what is normal anyway? i have a friend who is due 10th october she's only just 26 weeks, she started showing last week, but until then she was always making comments about how huge i am. i am 31 and half weeks now with my second child and i don't think people realise that once you've had one child, your stomach muscles are cream crackered! sounds like fun outside your house ladyl. wow, it's so boring where i live!!!

mummyhill · 05/07/2005 16:11

KF Top is great.

Got told of this afternoon when i collected a tearful DD from pre nursery as I was late. Sorry but i only sat down on the setee for 5 mins and well i fell asleep. I tried to explain that unfortunatly I don't finish work till 11pm and am got up at 6am by DD, chances to rest between then and going into work at 6.30? Nil. Good job i only have two weeks left at work cause i feel like a zombie - where is all the nesting energy i had last time i was pregnant?

Back to the question of size if one more person exclaims on how big iam or how low i am carrying and gives their valued expert opinion on how i won't go till my due date i think i might hit them, of course i am bigger and lower than last time my muscles never recovered from last time!!!!

Kiwifruit · 05/07/2005 16:15

Thanks Ladies - will have to go on a shopping mission to Debenhams this weekend.

Am starting to feel really uncomfortable sitting at my desk at work. And still have another 7 weeks to go (although am on holiday next week - yay!!). Also feeling exhausted - was very tempted to lay my head on the loo roll holder and have a wee snooze when I was in the loo before!!
Have got yoga tonight - 99% sure that I will fall asleep in the relaxation bit at the end!

mummyhill · 05/07/2005 16:36

Kf i wouldn't worry about dozing off in the relaxation bit they are used to it. My main worry is that i will doze off whilst sitting at my till

Kiwifruit · 05/07/2005 16:50

Mummyhill - it's not unknown for me to fall asleep in afternoon meetings .

LadyLazarus · 05/07/2005 20:04

Kiwifrui- ok the link is working now on my computer for some reason! The dress / top is beautiful, and will look nice with the trousers. I say go for it!

Bubbles - believe me, I think I'd rather live in a 'boring' place at the minute!

Paddysmum · 06/07/2005 14:22

Hi everyone [smile. Anyone planning a waterbirth or had one? Our baby is due on Sept 16th so I am starting to think seriously about the birth. Does a waterbirth minimise the risk of tearing? I am TERRIFIED of tearing!
