mawbroon · 10/12/2009 13:35

I might go straight for the flax or linseed! I am struggling to get rid of thrush (on third round of pessaries) so all the sugar and juice probably isn't helping!

All was fine at the MW and I don't need to go back until mid Jan. I guess by that point, I will need to start acknowledging the fact that I will be about to have a baby.........

mamaloco · 10/12/2009 14:21

Back from my 32 weeks scan (on my compt 31 + 5) but doc found that baby measures 33+ so my new date is 30 of january, which is impossible! Drs wouldn't listen to me though and book my CS for 23 of jan. Does any of you know if they are risk for delivering a baby at 38 weeks instead of 39 or a week doesn't really matter?
No choice about VBAC though, even if everything seems good now (fibroid and placenta moved up, and baby already in position although moving a lot still!), here it is a bit old fashion once a CS always a CS, I don't really mind (except DH is not allowed in) as I am getting terrifyed of trying VB again and I am only mildly scared about CS.
I should probably add that DD was 4kg170 and was one of the smallest baby of the familly (the record being my godson at 5kg) so I wasn't expecting anything else at that stage than a big baby... Appart from that everything is fine , baby looks more like an alien than a anything else; can't believe how detailled is that scan (I didn't have one at 7 months for DD in the UK).
Lucky you who are already planning your week end. DD is ill with high fever and sore throat (not flu) so I have been stuck inside since tuesday and will be till monday, found revenge on hiding from my DD, bad mama
Sorry for all those who suffer, mawbroon drink a lot (more) of water it does help as well

OP posts:
jardins · 10/12/2009 14:39

Mawbroon, Mamaloco is right; drinking lots of water really helps. I try to down 3 glasses for breakfast (with the linseed!) I also sympathise re thrush. My little trip to the hospital this am confirmed that I had thrush. Yep, I've had it for weeks now but it comes and goes. It drives me mad though. Sigh. You're right about the sugar and fruit juice. I am aware that I'm consuming too much sugar (I mean chocolate) these days. Sigh again. I am getting a leeeetle fed up with being very virtuous and healthy although I am aware that this will be an ongoing thing with the next chapter: breastfeeding. We all know it's for a fantastic cause!

FluffyCoo · 10/12/2009 14:51

Afternoon all,

Nightmare mawbroon - just when everyone seemed on the mend at your place! Hope DS gets well soon.

Enoko Milton Keynes is definitely good for shopping - we're pretty spoilt from that perspective! although I do like a trip to Bicester Village every now and again for a bit of a change!

I'm doing NCT classes in January - mainly for DH's benefit TBH. Figured it might give him a chance to meet other nervous new Dad's-to-be and compare notes on living with a psychotic pregnant woman. Plus he hasn't been doing as much reading up as I would have liked, so I'm not sure he's in any way prepared for what's going to happen! Sigh!

Dee2009 · 10/12/2009 16:44

Hi all,

mamaloco my midwifes wont change my due date even tho baby seems large!?! I've always said that i am about 10-14days further on than they think but they just wont have it!! I have another scan at 36weeks to see if he has changed postion from being breech (even tho they think he is to big too)I'm 32 +2 at the moment and everyone seems shocked that i say i'm not due till 2nd of feb! And kind of wish they would change my due date as then i wouldn't have so long to wait!!

Me and my husband started our NCT classes on sunday, we are doing a intesive course and it cost £87. I know its alot of money but i have to say worth every penny!! My DH got loads out of it, prob more than me and we both had a lovely time meeting other expecting couples!! We don't have any NHS classes in our area so we had no choice but to pay.

flyingcloud · 10/12/2009 16:47

Mamaloco, I hadn't realised that the EDD would change this late in the day. Good luck!

I have my 32 week scan on Monday so am now suddenly scared by what you might say.

I am so unbelievably tired, but I have had six days of non-stop work, long drives, lots of walking, long days on my feet, client dinners etc. I find that it now takes more than one good sleep to catch up. I also have a sore throat but I am pretty sure I don't have flu. I have spent most of today in bed but I just decided that I had pushed myself too hard over the last few days and I needed a rest.

I've also got my first ante-natal class on Saturday, not sure if DH is going to make it or not!

Think I should get up and brave the supermarket, poor DH has been abandoned by me for long enough and now I can't even look after him when I get home.

ktmincepie · 10/12/2009 17:08

Flyingcloud - I've just had a big Tesco order delivered and I can't find the energy to put it all away, how lazy is that!

Enoko - yes we were on the ILs narrowboat, we used to have loads of great holidays on it but there isn't anywhere practical for DS to sleep so haven't been out on it for a few years.

We aren't doing any antenatal classes this time, we did the NHS ones last time and the bit I found useful was the info about the local hospitals.

Should go and tackle the mountain of shopping I suppose and try and think of something to make for tea.

bethylou · 10/12/2009 20:52

Sorry to hear lots of annoying ailments are getting people down. I am lucky at the mo that I actually now feel better than I did at this stage last time (and ling may it last - frantically looks for some wood to touch..) The decorating is finally all done but I've only just realised that if the baby doesn't turn, they will do a c section in 7 weeks (as DS was born naturally at 39) and I was banking on another 9. I know that an extra 2 weeks isn't really a big difference, but it seems like it at the mo! Sooo much to do and now wishing I had taken a leaf out of some of your books and got things reday earlier!
Dee2009 - if you are convinced they have got your dates wrong by 2 weeks be very careful about letting them go over what they consider to be your due date as that would mean a very long pregnancy going by yours. It's so annoying that they won't listen!

T4tastic · 11/12/2009 08:03

Hello all

Always lots to catch up on, love it!

8weeks and counting... Saw yet another different midwife yesterday - we have a team of 4 allocated, but 3 have either gone on maternity leave or moved. New one reminds me of Kim from 'How clean is Your House' & 'I'm a Celebrity' fame. Can just see her now in the delivery room with marigolds and sink plunger at the ready!!

Now, I always thought BYO was a great idea - fave bottle of plonk at the local curry house etc. But my local hospital - Macclesfield General to name and shame, thinks it a good idea for formula milk supplies too, and is asking anyone not planning/unable to breastfeed to bring their own supply. Bloody cheek!?!?! I'm hoping to BF but will take some pre-mixed cartons just in case. Check your hospital isn't as tight..!

Christmas is a nice distraction, but also means my antenatal classes don't start till mid Jan. Also booked nct weekend - 2 friends said it was a great way to meet other expectant couples in your area. Have also joined yoga and aquanatal which are great.

Fab tips on the nappy front, thanks ladies, have bought Eco-disposables(?) for first couple if weeks but will check out the reuseable route too. ktpie thanks for the used nappy company link.

Had works crimbo bash last night, lots of fun but was in a taxi home by 11 as calves were aching and it's hard watching everyone take advantage of the free cocktail bar. Mock-mohitos are the future - atleast for a few more months. I probably shouldn't have gone bowling (don't worry I used the lightest ball) with everyone in the afternoon either. But I'm no good at bah humbug

Agree with the linseed route for unblocking - desert spoonful in your bowl of cereal works a treat. And as it's 'Eat Me' dates season, chop up a few and add them too.

That's got the tummy rumbling... Time for breakfast.
Happy Friday everyone.
T4 xx

AbsB · 11/12/2009 11:26

Hello pregnant ladies, sorry I've been offline for a few days, having asked about braxton hicks, was suddenly paralysed by really violent contractions on the tube home on Wednesday night. The woman opposite me was looking alarmed! So I got off and called my mum to pick me up! Seems to have settled now, but ooh, the pain all down one side, think the baby was sitting on a nerve! DIdn't think it was going to be that bad... and my sis who is a doctor said..."you better get that epidural after all..." - Doctors, eh!

Woowa - So sorry to hear that you're getting weight gain pressure from your other half. Maybe he's just getting stressed about his role during the birth, and his way of dealing with it is to get at you? Maybe he's projecting his feelings of inadequacy? I think it's crap that with all the other things we have to deal with like piles, swollen ankles, sore everything,... that the pressure of weight gain is upon us, we ARE PREGNANT - hello-o! AND can you imagine if men had to carry babies? Ha! ha! My DP has had a whole range of illnesses since I've been up the duff, and I've been nursing him back to health! And, I've finally surpassed his beer bump!

Stressheaderic - I know someone who was skinny and didn't know she was pregnant until she was 8 months!!! She went to the doctor because she had stomach pains. Anyway, she had a tiny bump and gave birth to a very bonnie baby girl, so it has nothing to do with it!!!

GuernseyFrench - I don't have a maternity benefit to speak off, six weeks statutory maternity pay, and then going to have to live on £126 a week before tax and NI! Don't know how.... but my company have agreed to let me work from home in the final month before I drop... and hopefully after my maternity leave - we'll see. It is so frustrating. I was thinking of leaving due to crap benefits but then I pictured myself job hunting in six months time with a baby in a sling, and to be honest, it didn't seem very sensible!!!

Finally bought a chest of drawers for the nursery! First purchase... Yippee!

threeplusone · 11/12/2009 15:24

mamaloco TBH 38 weeks is fine for them to do the CS.. you are classed as term from 37weeks hun xx.

Had my my 30week scan yesterday, baby is doing fine.. weighing roughly 1390kg 3.5lbs
Am going for a detailed scan on wednesday to check for Pyloric Stenosis.. which is what DS2 had when he was and he had an op at 4weeeks old.. but tbh his never showed up on the scans.. Hopefully everything will be ok.

We really are on the home stretch now.. most of us into single figures weeks wise!!!!. Still shocked at how fast pg is going.. Also shocked that some of us will be having babies NEXT MONTH.....
It was lovely at the scan yesterday couldnt really see alot due to size etc then as the scan was moving over my belly we got a really clear veiw of little ones foot it was amazing you could see all the pads etc.. it was lovely.

Hope everyone is okj and those who have been feeling under the weather get better soon.. Have a good weekend all xx

AngelaCarleen · 11/12/2009 17:39

Hi all

A word of warning for those of you attending christmas do's, I had my bump thoroughly fondled by one of DH's colleagues last night, the guy even bent down to try and listen to it and then told anyone who'd listen that the baby kicked him (it didn't, I laughed nervously which moved my tummy). I ended up spending most of the night walking around with my pashmina and appletise over my bump like a special shield. And DH, where was he you might wonder, at the bar, pickled, left me with this guy for an hour. Maybe I'm just too polite, I was too embarrassed to ask him to leave me alone in case I came across as a mad woman in a bar full of all DH's friends .

Hope everyone's aches and pains feel better
xx

pyjamababe · 11/12/2009 21:11

at inappropriate bump fondling angelacarleen - a good old fashioned slap in the face wouldn't have gone amiss! Lol at the protective pashmina though, will remember that one.

Thanks to chinook and scoobyd00 for pram advice, can't go looking this weekend as too much xmas stuff to do but will try john lewis asap as they stock both bugaboo and icandy so can compare them properly.

Just had a call re nursery furniture delivery - not until 9th feb!! Cutting it fine although i suppose i won't actually need the cot for the first few weeks/months so it doesn't really matter.

30 weeks on Sunday and 5 more days of work to go. I thought it was early to finish but so glad now, I am just shattered. Thank God it's Saturday tomorrow

binzle · 11/12/2009 22:23

Hello Ladies,

I know I'm a little late in asking to join this thread as 31 weeks today (due 12th Febwith first baby) - good god it's just really hitting me that I will be a mum in two months

It's really nice to know I'm not the only one to have all these aches and pains too.

AngelaCarleen
You have made me feel better about not planning on going to my own Xmas party as I find it hard enough fending off people at work I don't really know groping my bump without adding their drunkeness to the mix (I think I nearly broke one girls wrist last week wrenching her hand off)

Hmm... I guess I'm lucky that my colleagues are the more stand-offish sort! How awful for you Angelacarleen! I'm quite glad I don't have to deal with the whole Xmas do thing either - our company leaves us to organise our own and won't contribute, so the miserable lot I work with just don't bother! Not overly enamoured with the idea of socialising with them anyway TBH! Having a nice meal with my gang of girly pals next weekend anyway which more than makes up for it.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend - can't believe how fast the weeks are flying by now, we'll be comparing birth stories before we know it!!

xx

AbsB · 12/12/2009 06:24

Welcome Binzle, I've only been on this thread for a week or so and everyone is really supportive, and lots of great info on here!

Well! AngelaCarleen that is awful! What a creep! I think next time take him behind the xmas tree, a quick poke in the eye and swift knees up to the balls... but make sure no one's watching! What are people like!!

Good luck with your scan threeplusone, it sounds like you have your hands full and fingers crossed your baby doesn't have Pyloric Stenosis. Sounds scary...

God, it's 6 am on a Saturday and this baby is kicking so much I can't sleep! Those days of being able to sleep a long eight hour stretch are long gone! I guess that's it, then the baby arrives and we never sleep again...

Have a nice w/e everyone!

sunnybump · 12/12/2009 10:59

Eeeek. My Christmas denial is getting harder and harder to keep up...

I know what you mean about the kicking Abs, it wakes me out of the deepest sleep. It seems to be a good rule that you sleep when they do with a newborn so I'm going to try by best to follow that. [First timer wearing Rose-Tinted-Glasses Smiley]

It's important to conserve as much energy as possible for the last growth spurt and the birth now so take it as easy as you can everyone and delegate!

Sx

GuernseyFrench · 12/12/2009 11:02

AbsB I'm a first timer but my theory about sleep is that even if the baby will wake up up at night, at least you will be able to sleep comfortably and do get woken up by heartburn.

I'm looking forward to be able to sleep on my belly again!!!

Mamaloco I'm amazed that they are changing your EDD, to what I was told is that the more accurate dating is at the start of the pregnancy as after the growth of the baby is different for everybody. Lots of people measure bigger/smaller than their date now, so it's odd that they are changing your date.

Now I'll carry on with my laundry...

Have a good weekend ladies

mamaloco · 12/12/2009 11:33

guerneseyfrench I am in an eastern european country they do do some weird things here! I was a bit . I manage to talk about it with my (swiss) MW and she actually told me that new research suggested that the best time for ElCS is between 38 and 39 weeks, which reassures me, and might be helpful for those going through ElCS here. Although my doc will be conviced I will be between 39 and 40
For those who are waiting for a scan, good luck. For your infos, both low placenta and fibroids have moved up and baby recently move in proper birth position (although it still moving around a lot). I would have had to fight for a VBAC overhere, but got too scared (terrified would be closer to the truth ) to do it, even if everything played in my favor. Still, it is a big baby, and I have been advised to try VBAC only if I go into labor before 40 weeks. I guess I will never know! Funnily, at my first appointment my MW suggested 38 weeks as it would be a normal sized baby by then...
Hugs to all those who still have to make a choice or have to fight the other way around.
It's snowing here and DD is decorating the house even if we are still waiting for the tree (DH is on a mission alone as DD was ill)
have a nice week end

Nikki87 · 12/12/2009 14:27

Hey Binzle, I'm due 12th as well... glad to have finally hit the single figure countdown yesterday

to all the ladies with the work collegue problem, I am lucky [or unlucky, dependant on how you see it] to have been make redundant at 20ish weeks, so don't have to put up with the fondling, altho have a grandma who loves to touch, well, not only touch, but stroke, veryvery annyoing, I even bought a 'hands of bump' tshirt to wear, lol!

went and did the rest of my xmas shopping before, can't belive how many ignorant people there are! especially in Iceland, i mean, i know the isles are small, but i'm sure they could have waited for me to walk down the isle, all 5secs it would have taken me! anyway, rant over

glad to hear everyone is ok, just one last question tho, to those ladies who have had the swine flu jab, what where you're reactions to it? had it done this morning and curious

tataaa xx

bethylou · 12/12/2009 20:45

Evening all. Realised today that I have started producing milk and am only 30+3. Thought I'd mention this for any of you first-timers who haven't been warned about the possibility of leaking before the baby puts in an appearance - I tend to carry some breast pads and a clean top in the car at this stage (as I drive around different places for work) just in case of embarrassing stains developing!

On another note, my husband also failed to tell our DS's godmother (with whom he works) recently that she had rather pointy nips during the last stage of pregnancy and this was somewhat distracting to their male colleagues!!

Hope the weekend is going well for all. We are off to introduce DS to Father Christmas for the first time tomorrow - I can't wait, but he hasn't a clue what is going on!

Insanitybecomesme · 12/12/2009 21:51

Hello all, I don't get much chance to get on here these days.

I hope everyone is better organised than I am as we approach Christmas.

I am feeling really sorry for myself at the moment as have a cold and horrible cough which is not helping my pelvic floor. Twin 1 is head down and using my bladder as a trampoline whilst his sister is breach, this is good as I want as natural a birth as possible. I have been told to have my bags packed and be prepared from 32wks which is only the 29th december, however I am determined they can stay put till the 1st Feb.

Right time for a soak in the bath I feel, hope everyone is having a good weekend.

FluffyCoo · 12/12/2009 22:56

Hello all,

LOL at absb advocating violence against bump gropers...!!

Nikki I had my swine flu jab on Weds afternoon - by night time the top of my arm was sore and became a bit swollen and itchy over the next day or two - couldn't sleep on that side for a couple of nights. Apart from that, nothing to report and the discomfort is now gone! Oh I did also get a cracking headache thinking about it, but whether that was just co-incidence I don't know, just recovering from a nasty cold so may well have been!

Am so uncomfortable tonight, LO took my breath away earlier with a swift kick to the diaphragm - just as I was bending to put shoes on! I think his/her little feet are still lodged in there somewhere as I can hardly breathe!! Oh the joys ...

sunnybump · 13/12/2009 10:45

Morning all
I just had a sore arm Nikki, nothing else. Thanks for the advice Bethylou, I have had little drops of colostrum but nothing that would soak through bra and top yet, got pads in my ever increasingly heavy bag! I've had nipples like bullets since about week 15, at least wooly cardi's cover them, and it's the weather for wrapping up warm

I was up so many times in the night with indigestion/kicking/toilet/crazy dreams/turning over, pah. I did invent a new way of getting gaviscon down quicker though... Small sip of water first, wet spoon, and it sort of slides down. At 3am it seemed like pure genius, ahhh the small things!

Get well soon to all those with bugs and colds and take care everyone. x
