Congrats BBL Charlotte is a beautiful name, well done you!

katster37 · 14/11/2009 08:59

Turtle I hope you're Ok - any more progress?

I can't believe this weather, OMG. The cat is terrified!

Laugs · 14/11/2009 09:08

It's nice and sunny here now - thank god - our bathroom roof has a leak in it and last night let in so much water. Have finally got the money to get it prepared but the roofer can't come til the middle of next week. I hope it holds up until then!

claired21 · 14/11/2009 09:20

Congratulations sleepless - Charlotte is a beautiful name!

During the night I was woken up by my old friend reflux so did my usual routine of gathering all the pillows from under my bump, between my legs etc to prop me up into a half-sitting position. DP rolled over to see what I was doing and I got a swift elbow to the back of my head. Honestly, it's very lucky for this baby that current advice is not to have them sleeping in your bed!

And wizzy surprisingly enough, it didn't occur to me to climb aboard on that particular occasion!

Altho on a more positive note, baby is definitely a wee bit lower this morning. Maybe exball is working!!

weston · 14/11/2009 09:23

Good luck BBL sounds like we might have a baby arriving on its due date! Don't think I will be making it to Shrewsbury at same time!

Huge congratulations Sleepless laugs DD had this cough for ages and seems to have reached a new peak last nite, was up every 3 hours with sore nose/cough...zzzzzzz

BeckyBendyLegs · 14/11/2009 09:51

Hello guys! Had a few niggles but feel totally ok now. I'm not used to this. Last labours were pretty intense and quick. Bored now.

We're eating sausage butties.

Weston hurry up and come join me in Shrewsbury

bluemaiden · 14/11/2009 10:15

Laugs Hi I live in a village called Langley Park, just about 5 mins away from Durham City. My partner works in Gateshead. When are u due? I'm only a day over n fed up allready. Suffering with really bad SPD and baby oblique so had lots of back ache for about 6 weeks now. Surely she has 2 come soon!!!!

Just about 2 go 4 a nice long walk with my daughter. Going to my friends house, she has 2 kids of her own and her 3 nieces on a sat. Hoping the walk and then the stress of the kids running round might bring something on ha ha x

LissyGlitter · 14/11/2009 10:33

bluemaiden There are a few of us in the North East on the thread, we shall have to have a big meet up once the babies are here.

raggie · 14/11/2009 10:50

What a wild and windy night. Real Friday the 13th weather! Brighter here in Oxford today which is good as we have visitors coming for dinner and off with them to see our friends' new houseboat - hope it's all right after the storm!

Sorry to hear things are tailing off a bit BBL Hope they get moving again soon!

Congratulations sleepless and welcome Charlotte!

Good luck venus! You made me giggle with how pragmatic you are being - 'off to be induced once DH is out the shower'...

beepbeep Don't mean to panic you but my midwife said I should ring if I had a headache that wouldn't go away with paracetemol as it could be a sign of pre-eclampsia and swelling can be too, can't it? Best to get it checked out I think.

scarlotti · 14/11/2009 11:21

Hi ladies

Just popping in to say a quick hello, I can't keep up with you all!

Doing ok here, Ioan is feeding constantly - and I mean constantly. Have been feeding around every hour for the last 2 days, had to give a bottle of formula last night just to get a 4 hour block of sleep - the joys of big babies apparently!! Am hoping it settles down once my milk comes in.

Congrats to all the new babies, although I'm sure I've missed some as I've not managed to go back through all the posts and read them.

Good luck to the rest of you still waiting

katster37 · 14/11/2009 11:29

Scarlotti that sounds v v intense... How are you managing to sleep/eat etc?

BBL what is it with all this stop-starting business? Have you told the hospital your waters have gone?

I feel annoyingly fine today. MW due any minute and I have a feeling I will cry if she doesn't say what I want to hear - ie that baby is definitely imminent and she knows he will be here before, say, Tuesday.... They do come with crystal balls, don't they?

Ninjacat · 14/11/2009 11:41

Beep give mw a call. Headaches and swelling should be checked out.

BBL- exciting hopefully not too much longer to wait for you now.
Sleepless congratulations charlotte is a lovely name.
katsterHow over due are you now?
tabbykat- im with you there also a week over due and wondering when my baby girl will show up. Im getting rather fed up now. Iv got my first sweep booked for monday so hope that will do the trick and they are going to arrange my induction on monday but iv now idea when that will be. Just feel like this is never going to end and il be the last one of the november crew still pregnant.

Fruitpastels · 14/11/2009 13:10

Sleepless Congratulations!

Scarlotti You're not on your own with the feeding malarky! I was rooted to the sofa all day yesterday feeding every hour, it's been like this for 2 days now. Today is better and he's gone back to 2-3 hr blocks for some reason. He also tends to feed for comfort as well and falls to sleep on the breast, I have to make sure he is in deep sleep when I move him, as he'll wake and want more feeding! He is much better at night though and I can get a good 3 hrs sleep before a feed. Are you co sleeping? I never did this with DS1 but have found it the most easiest way to bf at night.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 14/11/2009 13:40

sleepless congratulations!!!!! and welcome to Charlotte, a good weight i might add! Good tip about movies. Will take our laptop with us then!

pinkmich1972 · 14/11/2009 14:07

HI TO ALL
I had a baby girl weighing 8lbs, on wednesday the 11th at 11.35, 11-11-11.35.
Called Grace poppy.
Labour well went in to be induced was having mild contractions, when I got seen eventually, i was three dilated no pain, midwife broke waters, and oh my god first a flood, then full on contractions every three mins, moved straight away to delivery, gas and air mouth piece, in mouth, standing up doing a bt of salsa dancing, huby holding hips. contractions within ten mins one after another, exactly one hour after waters broke, baby arrived, minor tear, no need for stich. I cut the cord. Eight pounds is the heaviest of my babies, and she is so cute.
Stayed in for 24 hours. Home and she does not stop feeding all night on the breast, no sleep for three days, like a zombie.
I also gave in last night and gave her a bottle, i went back to bed, woke dad at half seven to look after her, and what does she do sleep for four hours! when dad looking after her!
Sorry thought i should say all what happend so waiting mums get to know that it was all worth it, still a bit of shock really but HAPPY XXXXXXXXXXXX
AND WELL DONE TO ALL THE NEW MUMS , BIG HUGSXXXXXXXX

wook · 14/11/2009 14:15

pinkmilk and sleepless well done, big congrats to you both!

I am on day 5 and in the middle of a total hormonal meltdown, mainly due to agonising nipple cracks caused by disastrously overconfient approach to bfing, having last bfd a nigh on 2 yr old ds who knew exactly what he was doing!

Just on yukky clots, my mw said a melon sized one was of concern, possibly a grapefruit sized one, but not a satsuma sized one! I told her I had been thinking of them in terms of rodents- having passed a hamster and rat sized one, but not a squirrel or chipmunk! She said the reason I was seeing them in these terms was because the shape of a clot that's arrived while you're sitting bfing is the shape of your fanjo regions, which is kind of rat shaped. EEEEEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUUWWWWWWWWW!

longwayaway · 14/11/2009 15:35

Get that baby out, Venus!

Go BBL go!

Congrats sleepless on Charlotte! And to pinkmich on Grace Poppy!

hobnob57 · 14/11/2009 15:39

BBL, TOK & venus good luck to you and sleepless & pink CONGRATS on wee Charlotte & Grace. Have a sleep on me!

Urgh, clots. Forgotten all about them.

Well, I joined the early risers brigade today, waking when one of the neighbours went off to start their shift and having a really gurgly tum, baby was dancing and realising I was a bit peckish. No going back to sleep after that, so I got up and had breakfast but did manage to get back to bed and DH dealt with DD when she got up. It seems her hunger strike finished this morning. She had 2 bowls of cheerios and 1.5 slices of toast, according to DH.

I'll join tabby and misssease in the fed up and overdue camp. I've lost all of my energy and am gallumphing around in some kind of hormonal haze at the moment. My house is a state and I can't even summon the energy to care. I see the consultant MW on Monday to see if a sweep is possible. Baby engaged for a time yesterday I think (I certainly had trouble walking which hasn't been an issue recently & lots of big BHs), but has popped out again today. Muchos ball bouncing tomorrow!

I'm so glad we seem to have missed your awful weather. Commiserations.

Venus (If you ever get to read this!) whereabouts do you live? I used to live near Harlow, on the Herts side.

wook · 14/11/2009 15:39

Scarlotti sympathies on the feeding marathon, ds1 was a big and hungry baby- I vowed that if I ever had as hungry a child again I would definitely not hesitate to top up with formula- for the sake of sanity alone! Sounds like you are coping really well- how are other dcs? Ds here is playing up a bit.

wook · 14/11/2009 15:43

Hobnob Tabby and Missease being overdue was so so horrible, but now I look back on those 9 days as not being long enough! Here are some of the things I would have done with another couple of days off- maybe you can do them for me??
I'd have.. watched An Education or Bright Star at the pictures and eaten a mound of pick n mix
Had a coffee and muffin with a mate
Walked along the river
Enjoyed wearing my jeans without worrying about stitches

Oop. crying baby, can't so those thinsg now!

EasyEggs · 14/11/2009 16:50

Just a quick one, haven't got time to catch up properly atm so huge congratulations to Sleepless & PinkMich Love the names you have given your daughters. Obv Charlotte is the best name yet though (only as it's what I am calling this one lol!)

Hope you are both managing to get some very well earned rest.

Will hopefully be able to catch up properly tomorrow.

ursigurke · 14/11/2009 16:51

Congratulation to sleepless! Charlotte is a beautiful name!
Totally agree with broodzilla, especially about the bleeding. (no desire of cleaning over here, seem to have the perfect house husband - if only I had known earlier )
I also had lost an almost egg sized clot. After that no more bleeding only this light brown lochia stuff. But today after breastfeeding I suddenly started to bleed again, and it wasn't just a little bit. Called the labour ward and apparently it is normal for the next couple of weeks. I thought you would stop bleeding rather quickly and then only have the Lochia.
Paula is doing well, but she mainly likes feeding in small portions (it's better at night)
And I would have a tip for the changing table. Ours is in our bedroom so it is rather cold and changing nappies was usually a terrible thing for her. So now we have a small radiator for 10 GBP on the dresser next to the changing table and she really enjoys the hot air.
Once again no time to read thoroughly your posts but I am thinking of you and hoping that everyone will get a nice and easy birth.

Tamlin · 14/11/2009 16:52

So many babies! Brilliant! I haven't been able to get on for a while DH has been gadding about in the US - I've just been going to sleep when the toddler does in a desperate effort to get two hours of joined-up sleep. It hasn't happened yet, alas!

ursigurke · 14/11/2009 16:53

pinkmich, sorry missed your post. Congratulations to you too!!! Hope you will soon get a little bit of rest
