OP posts:

Like the coat Sunny, v nice! Looks cosy too, and a bargain!

ktpie · 27/10/2009 15:29

Watercress - I'm not much help with Tesco codes I'm afraid, I used to be able to find loads but I think Tesco have blackmarked my account and hardly any work now, very annoying. Moneysavingexpert tends to be pretty good for that sort of thing.

I should be sorting the house out, my friend is coming over tonight, the front room looks like a bomb has hit it, DS had a merry time this morning emptying his toybox out all over the place, then sprinkled raisins on top for good measure. I just haven't got the energy to tackle it, plus have the feeling that when he comes down from his nap he will undo any tidying up I do!

mawbroon · 27/10/2009 15:43

What's a cashback site? Sounds right up my street.

flyingcloud · 27/10/2009 20:04

I got asked today - when in December was I due?

GuernseyFrench · 27/10/2009 20:12

Oh flyingcloud! I hope you smash the face of that person!
How rude was that!

pyjamababe · 27/10/2009 21:06

Hello all.

My NCT class got cancelled because the course leader's children have SF! Asked my GP about the jab on Friday while picking up a prescription for Gaviscon and some hydrocortisone cream as I have developed eczema for the first time in my life - pregnancy related? Anyone heard of that before????

Anyway, he said I won't be called for a SF jab for a while yet so to have a think. The Vaccine Council/Commission are recommending it and they are an independent body, he said. Also, he confirmed that flu can cross the placenta and cause still birth which has begun to persuade me. I have definately had a few moments where I have felt sorry for myself because of having to make this decision

Went to Mothercare yesterday. Bugaboo Chameleon £749 not including car seat or car seat adaptors!! They did the hard sell on their own brand called the 'Spin'. Was cheaper but only came in shiny silver, so worried baby will look like turkey wrapped in tin foil

FluffyCoo · 28/10/2009 12:15

Mawbroon - a cashback site is where you can earn money for shopping on t'internet! Basically you create an account on a site like this www.rpoints.com, they then deals set up with retailers whereby you can earn a certain amount of cash back/get discounts on your purchases by linking to their websites via the cashback site. Lots of big name retailers and well worth doing - we saved a fortune last Christmas, although I'm not sure if Rpoints is necessarily the best one... perhaps ktpie knows of some other good ones? Happy shopping!!

Hope everyone is well today xx

FluffyCoo · 28/10/2009 12:20

Sorry, "they then have deals..."

Duh!

grin · 28/10/2009 14:24

Oooh I love all this exchange of information, especially money saving advice!

Hope everyone's feeling okay and not too exhausted. Today my lunch was: a bowl of cold roast potatoes, a pear, and a Wispa. Anyone care to join me with their YUM but maybe not suggested-in-a-pregnancy-book meal confessions?

woowa · 28/10/2009 14:26

I've also had a cold/cough/cold thing going on for about 7 weeks - MW said yesterday that it was normal in pregnancy to be physically a bit low. Getting through boxes of kleenex balm tissues at an astounding rate!

25 week appointment yesterday - bump measured for first time! Hooray - was 26cm, so I'm relieved to be pretty much spot on what i should be measuring. DC is likely to be bigger than average as DH and I are both v tall, but don't want enormous 12lb baby! Anyone else been measured yet? Also have 28 week growth scan booked in at hospital week after next. Asked MW why and she said people with underlying medical conditions often were given growth scans to make sure baby was growing enough.

anyway, it's 2.30,so it muct be time for an afternoon nap. SOOOOO tired today, just struggling to sleep every night despite being so tired - anyone else?

gingerkirsty · 28/10/2009 15:05

pyjamababe we got a Mothercare My3 off ebay for £200 - as opposed to about £500 new - you could try there or gumtree for a Chameleon? I am the queen of second hand but understand not everyone likes the idea - worth considering tho!

ktpie · 28/10/2009 15:37

Yes rpoints is a good one, www.topcashback.co.uk is my favourite (don't take any fees and give you top ups at the moment) www.quidco.com is also popular.

£749 for a buggy! Blooming heck. I'd certainly want cashback on that

fiziwizzle · 28/10/2009 16:03

I sympathise with your sleeplessness woowa, if I get a good night's sleep I am so pleased with myself and go round the next day telling anyone who'll listen (... "and I only had to get up once for a wee!"...). Most nights I wake up a few times and then toss and turn.

I had my 25w appointment this week and my bump is 26cm too

We've been given a buggy by a friend but it is HUGE and our house is tiny. I just don't know where we will put it. So I'm reluctantly thinking I will have to start reviewing buggies, to find a smaller one (any recommendations?! I just can't face it!) and then I will certainly attempt to get one second hand!

flyingcloud · 28/10/2009 16:57

I've just had a nap too! I am finding certain things incredibly taxing. I am now in bed with laptop and cup of tea. Anyway, this afternoon I was driving back from a meeting and I could barely resist the urge to pull over 500m from my house to go to sleep, feels a bit like the first trimester all over again.

Never heard of those cashback sites, we use a site called ventes-privee.com (or something) a lot, I think it's similar to Brand Alley. They buy up bulk of 'seconds' from a whole range of suppliers, from Wonderbra to Le Creuset and they put them up for sale a day at a time at massively reduced prices. You have to sign up for a sale. I just bought my brother a lovely cashmere jumper for Christmas at a hugely reduced price.

woowa · 28/10/2009 17:28

flyingcloud - you're right - it IS just like the first trimester again! I guess that since the third trimester starts next week (for me), we should be expecting to be feeling lousy again. Hooray!!

STill, that means we're two-thirds way through! Yippeeee [excited first-timer emoticon again]

Insanitybecomesme · 28/10/2009 18:05

Hello all, I have not posted for a while, by the time I read the thread I have normally run out of time to post anything.

I have really been looking forward to half term so I could relax a bit but it has not worked out like that at all, my in laws decided to visit arriving at 9.30 monday morning and go home tomorrow, then I collect my parents Friday evening from the train station and they are here until next Thursday, so it's all rather hectic.

At least my DC are in their element with all the grandparent attention.

I am beginning to feel tired again which is worrying as only 23 weeks, will ask midwife to check my iron levels as sure a twin pregnancy must be hitting my levels by now.

Right off to wade through the thread about swine flu vaccine, need to see if it is egg based, if so I cannot have it so would save me from trying to make a decision, as very unsure on it.

chinook · 28/10/2009 21:03

for those of you lucky enough to be getting a day time nap. I had heard that pregnancy was more tiring with a toddler, and goodness is it true. I can only admire those of you on your 3rd or 4th pregnancies.

I feel so uncomfortable tonight. I have a big bag of childhood goodies I am dying to tuck in to but am scared I will pop if I do! I grew up in southern africa and have been to a shop today which sells all the yummy stuff I used to eat when I was little. Sherbet filled cola lollipop anyone?

mawbroon · 28/10/2009 21:53

I am knackered too, but I suspect it is more to do with being ill, and having a sick ds to look after than the pregnancy.

I have expanded rapidly though! Saying that, I haven't been able to eat much for feeling ill the last three days or so, and then today I started to eat again, so I guess that could have contributed.

I have my midwife appointment tomorrow, but I expect it will just be dipping sticks in my sample and listening for the heartbeat. I am going to ask about iron levels too, because they got pretty low last time.

DS is going back to nursery tomorrow (unless he pukes in the night again!), so I might get a chance to sit down in peace for an hour or so.....

sunnybump · 28/10/2009 22:01

Well the tiredness of the 1st Trimester never really left me, but today I thought I was going to fall asleep at my desk and got a second wind! This is amazing progress for me and I think it might be my blooming! I'm still Having a nap in the car at lunchtime though much to some of my colleagues amusement.

I can't remember where this little snippet of advice came from, maybe the rough guide to pregnancy, but I when people give advice IT'S ABOUT THEM, when people comment on your size, IT'S ABOUT THEM. I have that firmly wedged in my head to repel the comments re size, strange sleeping habits, how you're going to dress your wee one, whether to have a HomeBirth etc. It works for me!

I also asked my GP about the Swine Flu Vaccine yesterday and she said she's having it which makes me more inclined too, plus the benefits of passing on the immunity while pregnant/ breastfeeding. I'm still nervous and unsure though. She did also say she was glad she wasn't pregnant.

Almost forgot to say, I went to a Nearly New Sale at the weekend and got a good load of stuff for £35 quid. Plus we were really far back in the queue so the stuff at the beginning must have been amazing. Well worth travelling a bit to get to one, and loads of babies for me to coo over too! But yes, definitely like Russia!

Must get some shut eye now, look after yourselves and your bumps girls

Sunny x

Insanity as u may have discovered by now there are 2 vaccs, u can have the 1 beginning with c, I think celapan. It is better vaccine for pg women too because it doesn't contain other stuff not recc for pg women, your lucky as they have only currently got it in for people allergic to eggs right now and other pg women are supposed to take the other one. Hope this is helpful just going on all I have read and believe to be correct.

mawbroon · 29/10/2009 07:42

LOL at sleeping in the car at lunchtime sunnybump! I used to do this in days gone by, but it was from being out too late the night before, rather than being pg!

DS seems to have recovered this morning, so hopefully things can start getting back to normal after three weeks of getting ill with one thing after the other.

mawbroon · 29/10/2009 13:08

I had my midwife appointment today.

I remembered my sample-

but forgot my notes.

Was going to ask about the swine flu vaccination -

but I forgot.

Was going to ask about iron levels -

but I forgot.

FFS what is wrong with me!!????

grin · 29/10/2009 13:33

You're pregnant!

FluffyCoo · 29/10/2009 14:05

LOL at Mawbroon's attack of "baby brain"!

I did something similar at my last appt, wrote a whole list of stuff to ask about - left the list at home and promptly forgot everything that was on it!

Is it just me, or is anyone else putting things in random places? I keep trying to put really odd things in the fridge - like my freshly made cup of tea for example!

I have an exciting task for this afternoon! Need to compose that letter to HR, officially confirming when I want to start my Mat leave - yipee!! Provided I feel alright, I'm just going to work up to the last possible minute. When's everyone else packing up?
