Blue don't worry,
I was in your position last time and they tried to turn the babywith an ECV. DD was picked up at the 36 week Gp appointment butI think she had been in position well before that

It didn't work but I think it is very rare for you to go into labour after an ECV. I had an elective in the end and it was fine, a good experience.

I do not feel I missed out on a birh experience and my recovery was also good.

Do a google search for 'babyspinning'as ther are some good sites with tips on how to get the baby to turn. There are lots of threads on here too.

No drooling here but I do admit to sleeping on my back. I gave up with the extra pillows ages ago they all just either kept me awake or feel out of bed.

I'm seeing the consultant tomorrow so think of me everyone.

audreyraines · 31/07/2009 08:15

blue76, i've heard acupuncture has really good results for turning babies - it might be worth a try. fwiw, i think mine keeps flipping around, though it's hard to tell which way is bum and which way is head. i'll ask the midwife at 36 weeks, if she's not right by then, will try a couple of acupuncture sessions. also peachy is right, there are positions you can sit in/do to encourage baby to have the space. baby's head is heavy, so you can get gravity to help by doing lots of walking, being on all fours, or leaning over bolsters/pillows or birthing balls. try to avoid lazing back on sofas or chairs, this will have the opposite effect.

thusnelda - i hold you officially responsible for the money i just spent on frugi last night. got a few things for ds, and will try the nursing tops, would be good to have a few new things to wear after the birth - my maternity clothes are now looking a bit haggard for the most part.

midwife coming over this morning to talk through home birth plan - very exciting!

hope everyone well and getting some rest. my sleep is up the creek again!

blue76 · 31/07/2009 09:28

Thank you peachy and audrey will give those tips a go today!

Good luck with the consultant today peachy

FairySparkles · 31/07/2009 10:51

morning girls, just been having a quick read through and catch up!
Audrey - so happy for you to get your HB
Blue - when I was pg with dd, she was breech at my 34wk check but when I went for my 36wk check she had moved - phew!! - this one is still doing full turns I'm sure - I get feet and bum and head in all different places each day!! ....32wks now so not too worried yet, still plenty of time for it to settle in the right position - although I am planning on scrubbing my floors on my hands and knees regularly as this stops them becoming back to back apparently - which my dd was and labour was extra painful!! Joy!!

I'm pretty much sorted for bubs now, everythings down from the loft and washed, moses basket is back in my bedroom but it doesn't seem 2 minutes since dd was sleeping in there - the time is flying for me!! - everything ready except my bags to pack now!

....whats KNUF???? I think I must have missed that post??

LizLemon · 31/07/2009 11:17

Oh the drooling! Nothing like waking up with a wet face is there? This pregnancy lark just gets more and more glamourous. Some poor soul was snoring really loudly in the relaxation part of my yoga class on Wednesday.

Glad to hear you got your hb Audrey hope everyone's tricksy placentas and breech babies manage to move themselves in the next couple of weeks.

Will try the hands and knees trick Fairy, since I've read that the baby likes to face the cord (something to play with maybe?), and I've got an anterior placenta

loved that breastfeeding dress Thusnelda. Might have to indulge...

Neddie · 31/07/2009 11:17

Hi all
sorry no posts but it's hospital trips all the time here and I can't sit at computer for very long as I swell up. Scan on Wednesday revealed that twin 1 (boy) has lost more fluid so I had steroids in my bum cheek and another load yesterday in the other. I have another scan on Thursday to see if I need an early C-section. However I am 33 wks +1 so in theory with the steroids I should be fine. have packed a trolley bag with bits in it for me and babies. Just need to pick up travel system once we are sure they can come home. Anyone in Wiltshire or am I the only one? Salisbury has a lovely team on the Maternity unit, they are really kind and lovely.

TrixieVix · 31/07/2009 12:39

Hi all - sorry for long time no post, but have moved house last week (excellent timimg at 32 weeks pregnant!!) and we moved ourselves to boot!

Just a really quick post as I've not got time at the moment to read and catch up with everything...not been on in about 4 weeks, so got a lot of catching up to do. Will do so tonight with a cup of coffee once DS is in bed.

Does anyone know where I can get a nice set of (preferably) solid beech chest of drawers for baby's room? I've got a Mamas and Papas cotbed in beech, and a gliding chair in beech, and now I'm looking for a beech chest of drawers to match, I can't find anything. Apparently M&P do 'changing stations in beech to match, but not chests of drawers' so that's a bit rubbish frankly...what am I supposed to put baby's clothes in?? Room is too small for a wardrobe btw.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, and will post again later. Love to all x

BabyLady · 31/07/2009 14:52

Hi all - this is officially my last post from work. Finishing in a couple of hours!!

Neddie, fingers crossed all goes well. Can't belive you are managing with two in there. I think one is hard enough to manage!

Will be back on via home computer next week.

Take care everyone and hope you all have a nice weekend.

SprinkleofStardust · 31/07/2009 17:50

Oh my goodness, I never thought that my dribbling was due to the PG!!! I had noticed that I was waking up with a soggy pillow and wet face, quite regularly!!

TrixieVix we have a beech chest of drawers from Ikea, it depends on your budget of course but it's really sturdy and nice deep drawers.

I'm 34 weeks tomorrow and had my MW appointment yesterday, for the last few appointments LO has been in the right position for birth but yesterday the MW told me that he was breech, trying not to get worried about it as he does seem to be spinning in there at times, so lots of time on the ball and cat position for me, oh and lying on the left hand side helps, according to my yoga lady!!

LittleCheese · 31/07/2009 19:11

trixie these are lovely, quite pricey though

LittleCheese · 31/07/2009 19:12

and this

peachygirl · 31/07/2009 20:34

Hi everyone,
The consultant went well and we discussed my options. I am going for a VBAC but I will be given a date for 41 weeks for an elective if I haven't gone into labour naturally. They won't induce me. Which I am very happy about.

I feel a little daunted but relieved that I know what all happen.

Our hospital is very pro VBAC apparently and I will be monitored closely and will be able to move about. They have a 60-70% success rate and if I am not progressing well or if there are any concerns I will be taken into theatre at the time.

We thought that today Dh would find out about the redundancy but yet again it looks like it is going to drag on further. There was a big email from the union after a meeting which basically said no one knows what?s going on. What we do know is that if he is made redundant then his ?package? will be a better deal that they had previously said.

On the bright side it means we have another full pay packet.

We took advantage of DD being in nursery today and went to see Harry Potter ( take our minds off everything) was anyone else a little disappointed??

bigbang · 31/07/2009 21:24

Oh no peachygirl don't say that! I am going to see in tomorrow with my MIL at the Imax in Manchester and am ridiculously excited

I went shopping today and got some lovely baby things in H and M, nice vests in bright reds/purples rather than the usual same old insipid pink. I was getting so peed off with all the girls baby things, why do they feel the need to put pink, and flowers, and rabbits and a frilly trim on the same item of clothing, surely one 'this is a GIRL' statement is enough! Pah, I should design my own range.

LizLemon · 01/08/2009 08:02

Hope all goes well Neddie - fingers crossed for Thursday.

Am in awe that you managed to move Trixievix. Sympathise with the chest of drawer hunt. I'd love to wash the wee one's clothes but have nowhere to put them afterwards.

Actually had a surreal moment in Ikea last night. We've been sorting out the tiny spare room to hold our assorted crap from Fitz's room, and were standing in the self serve bit loading the trolley with cupboards, when along came another pregnant woman and her dh, buying exactly the same cupboard for the same reason, and she was due only 5 days before me. Made me feel much better about being so disorganised

Hurrah for the full pay packet peachygirl, but it's still crap waiting to find out what's going on.

Haven't seen HP yet. Too distracted by decorating and cupboards...

nitnat84 · 01/08/2009 08:18

Hi everyone,
Haven't logged in for a while so had lots of reading to do! So no more babies yet?!?! I wonder who will be next.
I am 34 weeks on Monday Went to my first antenatal class on Tuesday. Bit rubbish to be honest. Do not feel like I learnt anything. Anyone else found their classes not very useful?

audreyraines · 01/08/2009 09:24

nitnat, i always thought of antenatal classes as being good for meeting people and not much else. i haven't done anything this time, honestly, you'll find your own way with this gorgeous baby of yours. but it is nice to know a few other mums with same age babies.

blue76 · 01/08/2009 10:15

That must be a relief for you peachy - at least your mind has been put at rest. Good news about the full pay packet too! We went to see HP last week - yep, very disappointing. Far too romantic and not enough magic! Oh and I'm sure they missed loads out??
If you thought that was bad, don't even entertain Angels and Demons [if you've read the book]. Excuse the language, but it was the biggest pile of shit! Killed off different people and the murderer was a completely different character. Was pap.

Re antenatal classes - I've never been to one. I don't really know why I've not bothered.

Was in doc's waiting room the other day, sitting with a 'heavily pregnant' young girl. I asked her how far along she was - 28 weeks. Her mum then asked how many weeks I am. When I said 32, she exclaimed, 'Oh my god, you're tiny!' Good job mw measured me minutes later, assuring me that I'm on the 50th centile. Phew!

bigbang I know what you mean re pink stuff. If this little one has red hair like her dad then I can't see pink suiting her all that well.

blue76 · 01/08/2009 10:21

Has anyone got any idea how many posts are on this thread? It doesn't seem to say anymore...worried that we're approaching 1000.

blinder · 01/08/2009 10:30

470 including this one blue - we should be fine for a while

SprinkleofStardust · 01/08/2009 16:54

I quite enjoyed HP, but to be honest, I can barely remember the books (I'm currently reading them again from the beginning in order to refresh properly) and was qutie ridiculously excited about being out on a Friday night for the first time in months, especially as we had a Nando's before we saw the film, lol!!! So I don't think that my judgement is particularly reliable

Was excited about Angels and Demons as well but not so much now Blue, thanks for the heads up!!

Minshu · 02/08/2009 08:52

Morning ladies!

Your combined effort has prompted me to start on the hospital bag. After all, baby is due next month Anyway, picking up the bits and pieces made it all seem terrifyingly real. I was in pieces by the time I got home - good job DP was here. I've obviously been trying to block out the whole labour thing and am absolutely petrified. Have my first ante natal class tomorrow - not sure if that will make things worse or better.

FWIW - I've been sleeping with a folded up duvet under my sheet for the last 5 or 6 weeks, which has made sleeping on my side more comfortable as I normally prefer to sleep on my back on our firm, orthopaedic mattress. I tried to get on with additional pillows, but found they were too annoying. I still wake up on my back from time to time, but the duvet gives my bump and hips enough comfort and support.

Bigbang and blue - before I found out I was having a girl, I would have agreed whole-heartedly about the insipid pinks, but now find myself totally drawn. What a sucker - can I blame the pg hormones?! The purples and reds sound much more to my normal taste.

Thusnelda · 02/08/2009 18:42

Minshu, same here! I have always been going on about how stupid this either pink+flowers+frills or khaki+bob-the-builder stuff is and why they can't sell simply children's clothes, say with stripes in red or yellow, and now I find myself choosing pink myself! Tasteful, pale pink of course and lacking the frills (mostly) but still. It must be the hormones.

Neddie, good to hear from you. Hope you can keep them in a little longer!

I had a look at pushchairs again today and find it really difficult to know what features will be important. And they all seem rather tricky to operate but I guess you get used to the flaps and clicks and straps and brakes quite quickly. All I know is that I need one that fits into London busses alright and I would like the option of having the baby face me. And maybe rather a separate travel cot thing than one that converts into a flimsy version. I had a look at which ones Which? recommends but they weren't in stock at Mothercare.

peachygirl · 02/08/2009 20:15

Thusnelda what sort of buggy do you want? IME most will fit on London transport but I would try to go for the lightest one you can.
I have a micralite and really like it but lots of people buy heavy systems and then end up with a maclaren so you may want to start there.
I originally had a silver cross and sold it to a friend at work. I was good for us at first but we went for something lighter and the bigger wheels are good on roughish terrain

Things OK here, not much to report. DD hasn't had any accident for 3 days so it looks like the potty training has been a success. I am expecting her to regress when the new baby arrives.

BTW If you are interested in the Tommee tippee closer to nature feeding range ( which I would recommend) Mothercare has a 3rd off on most of the products.
We have the microwave steriliser and it was great and the bottles are very good.
I got the travel steriliser - good for visiting family. I had a tesco one last time and it melted in my mum's microwave!!

Minshu · 02/08/2009 21:10

I've been rather overwhelmed with the range of buggies, etc. Thinking of going for the mothercare mychoice range (in spite of the lack of separate carry cot), as it seems to include a lot of stuff for the price that other ranges have as optional extras - and has the option of child facing in pushchair mode. It does appear to be quite heavy (but similar to quinny), but we have a metro system here, so easier to negotiate than buses. It folds up smaller than some of the others, so probably less awkward for getting in and out of the car. Undecided on whether to go for 3 wheels or 4. We walk down to the beach a lot, so the 3 wheeler may be better for the sand.

Thanks for the recommendation on bottles, peachy - I don't have a clue what to look for. Don't have the biggest kitchen in the world, so was thinking of a microwave steriliser to save space.
