Maybe they can create a support group for their fear of nakedness!!!

The funny thing is, he knows as soon as it is coming, as soon as we lay him on the floor he starts getting irate! We've tried tricking him with different surfaces (carpet, changing mat, muslins, towels) but he knows what's coming!

BoffinMum · 26/04/2009 19:28

Have sacked AP at the same time as her resigning! She goes in 3 weeks. I am doing the school run etc anyway, so we are basically paying her £80 a week to put a few loads of washing on at the moment (bearing in mind I do Felix's and my own to make sure the hypo allergenic soap powder is used) and occasionally supervise the boys' showers and teeth cleaning. Not a good use of funds. I had to pay £150 for a local lady to do 8 school run trips to and from the holiday club during the Easter hols because of all this grief as well. I am because this is what she was hired for.

I have decided I am fed up of bringing up other people's errant daughters (and on one case son) and that the AP era of my life is now over.

Felix is doing really well and has grown out of most of the newborn clothes we have. This is a Boffin household record.

BoffinMum · 26/04/2009 19:32

Oh yes, and he seems to recognise me and his dad and smiles when we appear, He also likes his babygym and people singing.

BoffinMum · 26/04/2009 19:33

I agree, Frekkles!
Did you pick a bluebell to press???

BabyBolat · 26/04/2009 19:35

Do you think we will have another antenatal thread or will we all pop before that and move over to post-natal?

I think we maybe have one more so for thread title suggestions:

Chapter 32: Nutty's nut has finally cracked as April babies boom!

Chapter 32: April babies burst into the world!

Chapter 32: XX down, just a few to go, April babies put in their final show

Chapter 32: Once we pop we just can't stop

Chapter 32: Shake your pom poms, shake your pom poms, shake your pom poms!!

Chapter 32: the baby list is getting shorter, it's time to meet your son or daughter

BabyBolat · 26/04/2009 19:40

Yaaay so please this is finally almost over for you Boff!!!

Kara is out of his newborn clothes and no longer looks like he is completely drowning in his 0-3 clothes - still a bit big but not quite so ridiculous looking! He is growing so fast tis scary! He really recognises me, DH, nanny/grandad and Aunties and is the nosiest child ever - will whinge if he can't see or hear what is going on and will fight sleep if he thinks there is something remotely interesting happening! Smiles are coming through now which is bizarre as he has a real grumpy face so it completely transforms when he grins!
He likes to watch sport on TV (think it is the commentary) and was enthralled in the football last weekend and really likes singing or listening to music - the louder the better! What am I getting myself in for in his teenage years!

frekkles · 26/04/2009 19:43

I did boff! I'm going to put it with the snowdrop from valentine's day.

i think it should be

Chapter 32 - Frekkles realises the last nine months has all been an elaborate practical joke and she's not pregnant after all, just a bit fat and completely mental

MegBusset · 26/04/2009 19:43

Frekkles don't worry, I think I'll still be here to keep you company for a while. Yesterday I vacuumed and mopped the floors, today I've been round the park with DS and done a load of cooking this afternoon, and likewise all I have to show for it is an aching back

BabyBolat · 26/04/2009 19:48

Ooooh Frekkles I do like that one!

But nesting Meg....!

frekkles · 26/04/2009 20:01

thank you meg. don't you dare leave me now! when are you due? I cleaned the boyfriend's car today, does that count as nesting?

BabyBolat · 26/04/2009 20:09

6 miles and car cleaning? I think that is more work than ripping the bathroom out!!!

brettgirl2 · 26/04/2009 20:23

As you are still pregnant frekkles I think you should have the 'casting' vote .

Keep it up Meg - eventually gravity will have to be the winner.

surprisenumber3 · 26/04/2009 20:44

Hi all - we came home this afternoon.

congrats Carameli - I think we gave birth within mins of each other!

will post birth story and pics tomorrow but in a nut shell was just under a 4 hour labour, baby was back to back so registrar and MW delivered (but with no intervention), 8lb 2oz with NO PAIN RELIEF (I wasn't being tough, there wasn't time for any!). 2nd degree tear but didn't need stitching.

So tired now, catch up tomorrow but thanks so much for all your support xxx

Yay surprise welcome home and Nutty nut nut well done for catching up!

I like that one too - ala Ricky Martin!!

If you could all please be around lots tomorrow as I officially have nothing to do, the bathroom is finished, the house is tidy (bar a bit of hoovering but that will take all of 5 minutes), I have no guests, no visiting to do so I am around all day bar the afternoon walk that Kara and I do so any company is greatly appreciated!

Lauren am guessing you are in labour so already looking forward to the announcement tomorrow (please dont keep us waiting as long as Nutty not sure we could all take another 3-day labour ! and yes nutty we are def all staying around until the last one has popped and then we can al treck over to post natal together! Am hoping we only have one more thread to go though - come on ladies - PUSH!!!!

Right am off to bed too - Very early night so expect to be woken up a lot by the little man but see you all in the morning!

Night night xxx

BoffinMum · 26/04/2009 22:32

BB, he will probably end up a librarian just to confuse you! I will be on here tomorrow if I survive the first day doing the school run on my own - pelvis was not brilliant today due to forgetting my painkillers. Don't tell Nutty!!

Frekkles, good lass for the bluebell, all will definitely come right now. xx When I got engaged to DH we were surrounded by bluebells.

BoffinMum · 26/04/2009 22:35

Off to bed now folks, haven't had a nap since Friday so reaaaaallllllyy tired now. Night night.

soon2befamilyof4 · 26/04/2009 23:33

BB - if you want something to do tomorrow, you are more than welcome to work your way through my mega list of stuff to do! Lol.

My milk has come in this afternoon - feels so much better. Hoping DD will still sleep ok tonight, she has had a great nights sleep the last 2 nights but not sure if things start to change when milk comes in? She is certainly feeding more often. In fact, she has hardly stopped since it came in! Not sure where she is putting it all!

Nutty - I forgot to say this when I replied to your post yesterday but your birthing story nearly made me cry! Felt so sorry for you being treated like that in labour (I know how that feels from last time round), then was so happy you got a fab delivery MW and your DD was born (again, similar to my experience with DD1) and then your DD having trouble for the first few mins of her life - I have no experience of this but must be so scary! I hope you are feeling alright now, home snuggling with your tiny little baby.

Boffin - you say about nappies....We have tried to use pampers new baby, size 1 but they are HUGE on DD?! They say from 4lb - she is 7.6! I guess maybe it is her shape? They completly swamp her! We have washables to try, but haven't tried them out yet. Hoping to do it tomorrow. DD1 is in washables (although has had disposables for the last few days) and we have problems with her skin in disposables. I definatly prefer washables, but I am in no way anti-disposables or anything. Although DD2 seems to have very senstive skin, she has come up in a rash all over which the MW has said seems to be from her clothes. So will be making sure I put all her stuff through an extra rinse cycle. Or might even use eco balls for a while and see if they get them clean enough.

BoffinMum · 27/04/2009 07:59

Soon2be, glad you are feeling better.

Re: Pampers, you can bring the tapes right across to the centre on little babies to help with the fit (see packet). Felix was 7lbs 9oz and they were a bit big but not too bad once we had worked this out.

Nutty, I can't believe even now you haven't been referred to the pain team for proper help with the meds. I think that is really wrong.

BabyBolat · 27/04/2009 08:30

Good luck with the school run Boffin!

Soon2be gald your milk is in and DD is feeding better - I used huggies with Kara for the first week and his lack of bum and skinny chicken legs meant he leaked a lot but they fit ok around the tummy

Kara's nappy rash seems to be calming down a bit - not that I can see all that much as the metanium covers most of it! but there are less blotchy patches which is only a good thing!

The weather is horrendous today so no walks for us hasn't stopped raining since the middle of the night!

Schulte · 27/04/2009 08:54

Bonjour

Another great night here - Hazel feeds loads during the day and then only wakes up once in the night, which is BLISS. I hope it lasts. I swear I can watch her grow, she's already filling out her clothes better and her legs are so long that some of the legs on her sleepsuits are too short. Eh, if that makes sense?

Pampers newborn are magic - they soak up the poo so well that I hardly need to wipe Hazel's bum. Have been a lazy mummy and used wet wipes rather than cotton wool and water - anyone else doing this? Doesn't seem to bother her so far.

Will try to get some more sleep now as she's having a nap in her cot. See you later!

PuzzleRocks · 27/04/2009 09:04

Another wet wipes user here Schulte! She's fine with them too, I use the aloe vera ones.
Holly is a good sleeper too, I can't quite believe it as DD was up all the time. I think a lot of it is down to how much more laid back DH and I are this time. We don't jump to pick her up with every squeak.
Having said that, we don't often put her down, she's just too gorgeous.

minush · 27/04/2009 09:08

Long rambling post alert
The condensed version: Minush gave birth to Zafirah Rosa on the 15th of April after a mercifully short and relatively painless labour. Minush family all well even though absolutely shattered
Hello Everyone, and a huge congratulations on all the new arrivals. I haven't had time to catch up on the thread since giving birth to my gorgeous (and sleepless daughter on the 15th of April.
Zafirah Rosa arrived at 4.37pm weighing 3.52 kilos. I decided to saddle the poor blighter with a name she will constantly be spelling for people, and yes, I am taking a big gamble on the fortunes of Vauxhall taking a nose dive! Zafirah means triumph(ant)/victory (ious)/success in arabic.
My waters broke dramatically the moment DH left for work. I didn't think labour had started as I only had very mild pains which I didn't recognise as contractions! The hospital told me to come in immediately, in France once your waters break, you're in hospital till baby's out. I thought this was nonsense and that I had loads of time so I decided to potter around the apartment instead for a couple of hours. DH managed to find someone to replace him at work (thank God, I was terrified of ggoing to hospital alone)and called a taxi driver friend to take us to hospital, friend in turn called her police friends and we had a rather dramatic, police escorted drive to the hospital. This all seemed unnecessary as I felt absolutely fine, although I could tell by now that I was having contractions.
At the hospital the lovely (male!) midwife examined me and said I should go for a walk as it'd probably be ages yet. Contractions got A LOT stronger during the walk and MW said I'd contracted to 4 cm and to stay in the pre labour room. I very quickly went from pre labour to labour labour. It was so quick and unexpected, I was rolling round ont he floor in agony while poor DH tried to get me into hospital gown. I was in the pre labour room for quite a while until DH found someone to take me to the labour suite (don't think they'd realised how quickly I was progressing) where they gave me an epidural (in France it's an epi or nothing!) realised I'd gone from 4 to fully dilated and got me in stirrups and pushing, a few pushes later and she arrived.
I focused so much on the labour and worried so much about it, but it was actually a great experience. DH even watched our daughter emerging, after all his reluctance to even be at the birth. Actually looking after Zafirah has been much more exhausting than I could have imagined. I really never thought breast feeding would be so difficult!
I had to stay in hospital for 3 days and was in a shared room, which was fine except that there was no privacy curtain or screen and my cell mate had loads of visitors so I was focusing as much on preserving my modesty while Bfeeding as actually doing it. Since the realise from hospital (during which I had a minor panic attack and almost begged them to keep me in ) we had a couple of difficult nights, then MIL came and stayed for a bit to help us (and she really was a help, even if she does irritating things like announce that I don't have enough milk and baby needs formula as well as breast, and trying to give baby cumin for a tummy ache and putting her to sleep on her side!) and we've had various family members descending. Now DH is back at work and I finally have time to post this.
Now I'm going to catch up on all our new arrivals!

minush · 27/04/2009 09:11
