Occasional poster here...just finished work yesterday and due on saturday. DS2 has the runs...the washing machine has packed up... was easier at work! aaahhhh....I've been keeping an eye on all the of hatchlings..more haves than have nots now, which makes me very jealous.

surprisenumber3 · 22/04/2009 09:14

purple - DH wouldn't agree to a third either (is fourth with DSS too), I really did want one but couldn't put a good enough argument forward for it and had just given up on it. When it happened, we were both shell shocked for a while but have totally come round now, but no, this isn't something I will be doing again I don't think!!

Hi tartetatin - congrats on finishing work, I worked til the very end too! In fact, I actually worked on Monday cos they asked me to help, and I was overdue then, mad aren't we! Good luck, hope you're not waiting too long!

BabyBolat · 22/04/2009 09:38

Surprise, you are doing so well - I was AWFUL my last few weeks and I don't have any other children to look after!

Quick update from Nutty - had second lot of prostin at 6am, still contracting regularly and can't feel them but she is loosing use of her legs as spd and back pain has intensified. They wouldn't give her any morphine last night and she is very frustrated as she can't even moo for attention as she doesn't know whats going on with her body!

We'll have to moo for her!!!

Carameli · 22/04/2009 09:55

have skipped through messages.

Kitty- what a gorgeous name, its so so pretty. I am jealous that someone so close to me has gone over to the other side but thrilled for you.

suprise: I totally understand how you feel about neglecting your other dcs. Mine are 2.5yrs and 5.5yrs roughly. I have felt really grumpy over such small things with them over the past few weeks. DD(eldest) has been so sweet saying she will look after me and even ds comes and gives me cuddles when I look tired.

My mw appt yesterday was fine, warned me about possible afterpains with no.3 so to stock up on ibuprofen, yipeeee. I was half hoping they would fine something in sample pot and pack me off to be induced so that I can begin to feel more human again. I am not a patient person to wait for things and still have just under a week to wait for due date.

DD has a Easter bonnet parade this afternoon so that will be nice, have also made one for ds to wear. Although was a bit stressful when her bunny ears became detached getting into the car this morning, thank goodness for staplers.
Then they have a cream tea for St Georges Day tomorrow so its all go here.
My mum is coming around soon to keep me company as dh has gone to Bristol today and I felt a bit anxious although its more likely wishful thinking that anything will happen.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 22/04/2009 10:45

Carameli we're in Bristol so if you need your dh and can't reach him let me know and Orbit and I will go around with a megaphone calling him!

Carameli · 22/04/2009 10:57

hehehe unfortunately he will be on an MOD base somewhere around there so not city centre but that imge has certainly made me laugh

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 22/04/2009 11:13

We could storm an MOD base, no problem. Orbit has a pretty loud scream on him, if i put it through a megaphone that should neutralise the sentries in seconds flat!

surprisenumber3 · 22/04/2009 11:35

Glad it's not just me then! - these last few weeks/days are awful. And I am eating my lunch already!!

Ahh..feel sorry for Nutty but at least it will all be over with soon.

I have heard about the afterpains with number 3 also. Not looking forward to that then!!

SpringySponge · 22/04/2009 11:48

Ju, that sounds so traumatic. You've done so well - & especially well to have remained philosophical about it. Well done xx

He looks gorgeous, by the way. George sleeps like that, with his hand by his face, too. No wonder you don't want him yo grow up - he's beautiful.

Boff, you must be smitten if you can think of circumstances in which you might do it all again

Congratulations Kitty! Beautiful name! xx

purple, well done for your scone victory

surprise, sorry that you feel so rubbish

Poor Nutty - it is dragging on a bit, especially if she's in pain Hopefully not long now.

WFH, love the idea of you & Orbit storming an MOD base - I can totally believe it

Carameli · 22/04/2009 12:09

WFH: that would certainly get his attention. He was worried last night about being in meeting with top generals etc etc and it looking really bad if he was constantly looking at his phone to check

suprise: yes afraid not much to look forward to there but I have a stock of ibuprofen at the ready, my mw said not to take nurofen as there is some other ingredient in that which is not o great but just the bog standard supermarket ones.
Also said if they get really bad that not enough women realise you can go back to maternity unit for extra pain relief, one woman went back a few days after for a shot of pethedine.
But she also said that it is much luck of the draw. So we both might be fine???

surprisenumber3 · 22/04/2009 12:14

hope so, I don't really remember them before so they couldn't have been that bad. Will stock up on the Nurofen though! Pethidine afterwards...hmmm....I always said to DH I would love some of that stuff when not in labour as I found it awesome, lol.

Carameli · 22/04/2009 12:20

oh no not Nurofen according to my mw, get the bog standard cheap ibuprofen stuff.

Was Pethedine good then, did it make the baby sleepy afterwards, have heard it can make bf a bit tricky if they are. Never had a chance to try it. Ds was too fast for any pain relief last time apart from G&A. Glad I am 5mins from hospital now.

surprisenumber3 · 22/04/2009 12:25

sorry, I took in that you said not Nurofen, but ended up typing it, duh!

baby didn't sleep for hours and hours after he was born. But my mum had it with me and I had problems because of it apparently, with being too tired to breathe properly or something?! Apparently now though they give you the dose depending upon your BMI rather than just the same dose to everyone. I know it makes some people sick but it just made me so relaxed that I was loving it! Strange thing was though, as soon as baby was born, I felt back to normal - not out of it at all!

brettgirl2 · 22/04/2009 12:50

I don't think I will ever look back fondly on being pregnant. SIckness for 2 months, unable to walk properly due to Sciatica from 20 to 30 weeks, 30 weeks plus - feeling better but just too big to be able to do what I wanted.

I really am rooting for all of you who are still the other side. My RL due date buddy also goes in for induction so I'm also thinking about her.

Kitty congratulations woohoo!!!!

Juwes - that really is some story. In terms of the weight, I'm also nervous about the MW coming but I'm sure it's just that little Hugo was ultra-knackered when he came out. I think they are all tired for the first couple of days but with what happened to you he was bound to be more so.

brettgirl2 · 22/04/2009 12:57

(Drum roll) (Drum roll) (Drum roll)

I've received my health in pregnancy grant!!!

Anyone else????

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 22/04/2009 13:23

Ah well Carameli in that case tell your DH not to worry unless he hears a baby screaming through a megaphone from outside the window and sees a nutcase in ill fitting maternity trousers pushing a buggy and waving at him when he looks out....

Actually I am sporting some pre pregnancy trousers today, although I can't actually do them all the way up, obviously.

Orbit is on his playmat, the cleaner has just left and I've had some lunch, and some kind soul has sent us some chocolates in the post. Hooray! I like people who understand that after you have a baby you don't need babygros bought for you, you need CHOCOLATE. And lots of it.

So am shaking pom poms for Nutty! And huge congratulations to KittyCat, are you going to change your name now to KittyCatIsGettingThinnerAgain? Gorgeous baby name too.

Purple I know exactly how you feel, people keep offering to have DS1 over to give me a break, when what I want them to do is the boring stuff like cooking tea and hanging out laundry so I can spend some time playing with DS1, not shunting him off to other people's houses!

Off to town on the bus today, fingers crossed I get one with a buggy space as I'll have the buggy board in tow to pick up DS1 later, and it makes buggy folding impossible!

surprisenumber3 · 22/04/2009 13:29

Hi Brettgirl, yeah I received mine last Wednesday

surprisenumber3 · 22/04/2009 13:29

Hi Brettgirl, yeah I received mine last Wednesday

AuldAlliance · 22/04/2009 13:33

Hello, just posting quickly while Alex sleeps, DS plays outside and my Mum sweeps my stairs for me. She has been a star, cooking, shopping, doing laundry and playing with DS. I am panicking at how I will cope with the baby and DS when she goes.

Alex is fine, has put on loads of weight, so much that the nurse I saw yesterday at my BFing appointment double-checked, and is sleeping for 4-5hr stretches at night despite a nasty cold given to him by his loving but germ-laden big brother. He has screaming jags around 9-12pm, but is basically fairly easy.

Update on the professional saga: DH's boss called him into his office on Monday night and spent 2 hours explaining that, while he is neither the type to change his mind nor unstable, he has changed his mind about sacking DH, because he has been so impressed with DH's dignity over the last weeks and feels he is "a good man". DH suspects he's realising how much cash he'll lose. DH is relieved that he will not be out of a job as of June 11th, but is still seeking work elsewhere, as he doesn't want to work with an unstable lunatic who sacks people for no reason and then changes his mind.

I have, however, found a CM for Alex, which is rather heartbreaking as I wanted to take leave and look after him till he was 9 mths old, and am now going to have him looked after when he's 4 mths, but is also a relief as I have got him a place with a lovely lady. Now to find a home to rent for us all for the next year or so...

On a more childbirth related topic, I had really bad cramps yesterday, like very bad period pains, and bled quite a lot. Today I feel better, but have been passing small clot-type things. Is this normal?
With DS1, about 2 wks after the birth I was having a cuppa with a mate, stood up to get something, and found that a goodly portiong of leftover placenta had gushed all over me, the chair and the floor. This time the MW showed me the placenta and seemed sure it was whole, but I'd rather avoid a rerun of that.

BabyBolat · 22/04/2009 14:45

Hey all just a quick update - she's in theatre to have waters broken but may need cs as they are worried about prolapsed cord x

Auld yay for good job news x good idea to keep looking though x

tartetatin · 22/04/2009 14:56

Regarding the afterpains - is it OK to take Ibuprofen when BFing? I remember they were awful after my second and nobody warned me - I had no idea about them. Thought I'd done so well getting through labour and then felt cheated having to put up with them. Funny though - none after number 3. Hope this one is the same.

surprisenumber3 · 22/04/2009 15:26

ah Nutty Hope everything goes okay.

I just went to my friends for a chat, saw the time and realised I was nearly late for reading time with DS2 so I ran up the road, oh my, I think I might have dislodged something - feel like she's about to fall out! Feel really sick too.

Juwesm · 22/04/2009 15:32

Hooray! Hugo has put on 80g! No more worrying about top-ups!

surprisenumber3 · 22/04/2009 15:35

yay. Hooray for Hugo and well done mummy!
