People - am I crying a lot today because of the au pair thing or is it because I am about to give birth and hormones are to blame??

chickaleggjac · 03/04/2009 16:05

juw it is more uncomfortable than sore, depends on how much you can relax in that kind of situation

electra · 03/04/2009 16:21

JE - sweeps don't hurt at all - at least, mine didn't. I don't think I would have one again though because I would worry that it may alter the course of things.

I'm feeling a bit fed up now and looking forward to the baby coming out. But at this stage even it somehow feels like it will never happen - anyone know what I mean.

For some reason I'm feeling a bit stirred up about the unresolved issues with the baby's father. Perhaps it's because the baby will be here soon and I feel a bit sorry that she will never know him, even though I know a drug addict isn't what she needs in her life

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 03/04/2009 16:28

Boff - the AP & the SPD is enough to drive anyone to drink let alone tears!! you are doing fantastically well under the circumstances, the hormones may be a little to blame but even if you were normal (i.e not pregnant) you would still be beating yourself up about the AP incidednt as thats what mothers do!! we worry and we take full responsibility for our children even if something happens thats not our fault.

for your mental health the AP needs to go, your dh really needs to be convinced of this somehow. I for one wouldnt be able to bear having her in the house without being very grrr and snidey to her now (maybe cos i'm a bitch?? ). whatever help she may have been she has now removed any possibility of her being seen as helpful in the future due to the resulting lack of trust (and who can blame you really!!) your dh is at work and cannot be the one to judge if she stays or goes, simply because he does not have a full picture wheras you have to live with her, and if you cant live with her then she goes! simple! it is your home and you need to be comfortable in your own home nd be able to trust the people who live there.

you have been more than fair with her, she has had more than one warning, numerous chances to prove her worth and yet she still goes and does something majorly irresponsible.

You need to do what YOU feel most comfortable as she was hired to make YOUR life easier not destroy it xx

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 03/04/2009 16:34

Juw - sweeps are fine do try and relax as much as possible though xx

Electra - there may be a possibility that he will get through his addiction and someday be ready to know his child, but until he does you are right an addict is not what the child needs. it is sad that there are unresolved issues but it sounds as though you have done the right thing to protect you and your baby, which i'm guessing is that you have taken yourself out of the situation??.

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 03/04/2009 16:35

ok gotta go MIL wil be here soon and i dont want her snooping.

please someone text me if theres any news xx

JuwEggsm · 03/04/2009 16:40

Electra - do you mind me asking what happened after your previous sweep?

SpringySponge · 03/04/2009 16:43

Haha, Nutty - Candy Rain again

I'm so excited for BB!

surprise, that doesn't sound good I hope you've spoken to your MW this afternoon...

Kitty, yay for chilled & relaxed I can't believe how much your MW leaves you hanging all the time though!

BB, I understand that you want to wait at home instead of in a hospital - so long as you do take sensible precautions so as not to end up with an unassisted homebirth in your living room!

Hahaha, frekkles, I love the idea that you want to go camping That's some dedication. I like camping & it is lovely weather, but in this state? No chance

Boff, I imagine mostly hormones are to blame - but it takes things to trigger the upset & it's not like you're short of those.

electra, I think it's normal that you'd be feeling a bit funny about the situation with the baby's father. As Nutty says, maybe one day things will change. & if they don't, then you've done the best thing for you & your baby

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 03/04/2009 16:44

Hello, you mad, sponge-munching, chocolate-guzzling, contracting bunch of ladies!

Just checking in, have been sent to bed for most of today as DS2 is not keen on sleeping at night as yet, so have been trying to catch up on some sleep.

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to OddEyes - that's a fast labour! Well done woman, you must be very proud.

BabyBolat am shaking pom poms for you as we speak, go Baby, go Baby! Also for Bleu, go Bleu, go Bleu!

We are all doing well, still no name but we're working on it. There's some scary stuff on those BabyNames threads.....

Midwife came today, DS2 has started gaining weight again after dropping his approved 10% of birth weight so that's good news. Milk has come in (oh boy, has it ever - rock hard boobs and lots of leakage!) and he is really quite enthusiastic about it, feeding every 2-3 hours at the moment and doing burps that rival Daddy's! DS1 is playing up quite a lot but on the whole adjusting very well - he has gone to Grannie's this afternoon to play, bless Grannie she is fab.

Let's have some more popping!

SpringySponge · 03/04/2009 16:47

Yay for WFH checking in despite her baby - we need more of this sort of thing from you all to keep us stragglers company & show us the light at the end of the tunnel

How long does he feed for every 2-3 hours, WFH? & is he a very long baby, or just a very chubby one?

Nice to hear that DS1 is adjusting well I'm sure he'll get lots of special fuss this afternoon, which'll help.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 03/04/2009 17:03

He's not long, but quite chunky, more stocky than his big brother was. But like his big brother, he's a fast feeder - my milk seems to come out very quick so he's on for 10-15 minutes at a time at the most, which is good.

Burping takes some time though, he's quite windy at the moment!

I haven't seen the bunny smilies before, hold on a sec

Hooray!

brettgirl2 · 03/04/2009 17:06

BB is in labour, yay - about time

I have been (possibly) offered a sweep at 40+2 (still over a week away though). I'm not sure what to do, because one MW refuses to do them until you are 41 weeks (and if a psyche myself up for one then I will be disappointed lol). She has good reason for this, she doesn't think they work until you are truly ready. Yes, I may skip it I think .

Boff you have every right to cry a lesser woman would be in a straight jacket by now.

SpringySponge · 03/04/2009 17:07

Oh, that's not so bad if it's only 10-15 minutes. I was worried that you'd be feeding him for 90 minutes & having half an hour off (I'm really nervous about bfing, especially as our baby's really long & will therefore require quite a lot even if he isn't chubby).

I'm very of your lovely, burpy baby. Mine's just hiccoughing into my hip again

How close are you to finding a name now? Do you have a shortlist, or are you still waiting for inspiration to strike?

SpringySponge · 03/04/2009 17:09

I've heard mixed things about sweeps. Some people reckon they're painful, others don't. Some say they're really useful, others disagree... It's impossible to make a proper judgement, I think! It just depends how desperate you're feeling, I suppose

brettgirl2 · 03/04/2009 17:16

What about Dwain or Kevin?

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 03/04/2009 17:21

MW finally come and gone - and I'm officially on for a HB!!! We're gonna riffle through the huge bag later to see what goodies she has brought... in the meantime, I'm going to jump in the bath 'cos DH is taking me out on a date! Thai curry and a movie - I really, really do love that man...

I'll pop in later! XXX

PS does anyone else think that the bunny looks like a Playboy Bunny giving head??? tee hee... Smutdar alert...

surprisenumber3 · 03/04/2009 17:23

LOL kitty, but the ears look like rashers of bacon!

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 03/04/2009 17:26

it looks like a blow up doll bunny!!!

BoeuffinMum · 03/04/2009 17:34

Nutty you have mail.

I have cried so much today my face actually hurts from all the salt. Boys keep coming and hugging me and telling me I am the best mum in the world and trying to feed me chocolate biscuits. They are so lovely.

AuldAlliance · 03/04/2009 17:46

Oh, Boff .
If it's any consolation, I cried absolute buckets last night. I think it's mainly hormonal, as rationally there was no reason for me to get so het up, and I just couldn't seem to stop. You have far more reason to be upset (apart from the reference to your age, which is just nonsense, frankly) than most of us, and this latest crap was probably just the last straw. Cry as much as you want.
Hooray for your boys.
Have posted parcel for you.

PuzzleRocks · 03/04/2009 17:47

WFH - Great to hear everything is going well. You sound very chilled, it's most reassuring. Maybe I can do this two children thing after all.

Springy - DD was long and big and she never fed for more than 20 minutes at a time when she was newborn.

PuzzleRocks · 03/04/2009 17:50

Boff - You boys are too gorgeous bless them.

PuzzleRocks · 03/04/2009 17:50

PuzzleRocks · 03/04/2009 17:51
