Thought I'd better start the new thread before it was too late. Here we go!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
divedaisy · 01/04/2009 21:19

Good luck to SpangleMaker - OMG!!! I'll update the list in a mo... will need to find it again!!

chocolatebunnies - sorry babes, but a mum from ds school is lending me different ones once this wee one is born. It would be a fab idea to have somewhere were you could pay a deposit to try some out...

blotted - I'll never order a Chicken Fajita again without thinking of your bruised bits! Hope you're ok though. Your DH really needs to realise your limitations. Maybe the sight of your Green Gooey Long Haired Cat will help him realise!!!

Tummum - yep - with you on the gettin-fed-up-with-pregnancy-stage! Everything's swelling - eyes, boobs, hands, feet, ankles, lower legs, and emotions!!

Belgianchocolates - Oh I had one of those days too. DS off school cos he continues to cough (he was off about 2 weeks ago with the same and I think he needs his immune system time to recuperate) and he has been a great help to me! But tonight I let rip on him - how many times did I HAVE to tell him to calm down before bedtime??!! I even went so far as to calmly explain that I was asking him nicely to quieten down, but in a moment I was going to cry because he was upsetting me so much. He started to cry, too!! But in the end I did have to bellow at him... followed by a BIG HUG... I hate being like that with him... Anyway - Good luck for tomorrow's presentation. You'll knock their socks off - and if they don't give you the job they'll have us to answer to!!! They have been warned!

divedaisy · 01/04/2009 21:22

pulapula - we put bits of Lego on my tummy when bump is on the move! ds loves to watch his lego creations come to life!! I'm getting loads of kicks away round my right side - I didn't realise my uterus went so far round there!!

LoobyLou36 · 01/04/2009 21:26

This is probably a stupid question but what did you all wear during labour & birth?

does having loads of BH mean you're more likely to go into labour earlier febes?
You're working up to 39 wks, blimey - i finish next week at 37wks and I wish I was finishing this week. Mind you that could have something to do with the fact that I might be induced at 38wks and I haven't got the house or anything organised

divedaisy · 01/04/2009 21:32

I had an appointment with the hosp clinic this morning (DS came too and was a very good boy!). Again they measured my bump and indicated that it was small for my dates. I suggested it was because it hasn't been measured by the same person twice! My measurement chart is like an ECG!!! Anyway, it was a great opportunity to get another, unexpected scan!! WayHay!! I saw Baby Bump and SHE is 5lb 6oz and fine for dates!! A GIRL!!!!!! So fantastic!!!! DH is happy too!! So I was right all along! Now I can get down to trying to find a Baby Bumpette name - even bought a new book for inspiration....

Now I was told to make an appointment to go to the clinic again on 13th May (day before due date) in case I haven't gone by then myself. But it was only when I was on my way home did I think this through.... OK this may be long.... My anaesthatist wants me to have an epidural under 'non emergency' conditions - ie a controlled situation. This is because of my prolapsed discs in my neck that make having a general anaesthetic risky and more problematic. Also if the epidural didn't work he wants time to change it to a spinal to see if that works... So I am going to mention this to my MW on monday when I see her, and ask her to speak with my consultant about this and a possible date to come in to be induced... - do you think this is a fair enough suggestion/concern?? I don't want to seem to be pushy (excuse the pun!!)

OK I'm away now to try and find the list and update according to tomorrrows dates...

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 01/04/2009 21:33

sparkly girly waves of pinkness to you, a girly bumperina

Still not sure myself whether I'd prefer a girl or boy, a boy would be lovely as I don't have one, but we are pretty sparkly pink princesses here, so would a girl be easier?

divedaisy · 01/04/2009 21:42

LoobyLou - I wore an oldish nightie last time - one that I didn't mind if it got thrown out. It had buttons down the front so ds was able to get skin on skin immediately. Will do the same again, or wear one of Dh's old Tees. Oh and wear some socks - it's amazing how cold your feet can get!

Grumpy - I just love my son - though not just cos he's mine, but he's 6 and a wee star - he's very sensitive, funny, helpful, bright, imaginative, energetic .... child. You should have seen the on his face today when I told him Baby Bump was a girl - he couldnt have smiled wider if he tried! And that's from a child who wanted a brother... now he's happy to be a big protective brother to 'his' wee sister!

divedaisy · 01/04/2009 21:43

I'm away now to find out if my bath is still warm....

flippineck · 01/04/2009 21:44

Oh wow! There's so much happening now!

Hope spangle and LO are ok - exciting and scary.

blotted - ouchy indeed!

Last day at work for me tomorrow. V glad, I'm shattered and DH keeps shouting at me (in a nice way) for doing too much on the days I don't work. Hopefully being at home all the time will mean that I can spread the things I need/want to do out a bit more and not get quite so tired. Don't remember it being this hard last time!

FiKelly · 01/04/2009 21:46

re hospital bags... i have 4 separate piles of things to pack.... MY list is a bit bigger as we live 20miles+ away from the hospital and DH & DS will be staying with my auntie when i'm in hospital as she lives just 5mins round the corner from it. So DH will not be coming back to our home until i come out of hospital... (it would be an hour and 3/4 round trip if no traffic to come back and collect things).

Labour bag
my natal hypnotherapy cds &/or ipod
snacks/drinks
cheap big t-shirt (that i don't mind throwing away if needed)
rescue remedy (got one in spray dosing bottle)
tens machine (one i'm renting should have arrived by then)
old socks to keep my feet warm and that can be thrown away if needed too.
lipsalve
hair bands to keep my long hair contained and out of the way...
watch with a 2nd hand to time contractions (until we get to hospital)
trying to remember what else i've got next door?!

My after birth bag
PJs
some change for the phone etc
nursing bra (too big boobs to consider not wearing one)
dressing gown
pair of socks to keep my feet warm
big cheap pants i don't mind throwing away
comfy pregnancy going home clothes (will still look 6months pregnant even after having LO)
shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, flannel etc
my crocs sandals for shower/use as slippers
pack of wipes
breast pads
Lansinoh cream (big tube)
nipple shields & lansinoh latch assist gadget (i have one inverted nip that causes latching problems)
Maternity pads... 2 large packs of really thick ones with more at my aunties if needed.
non brain taxing Magazines... thinking about a book but not sure if i can be bothered. Might take my PSP and lego batman game instead?!
Mobile and charger
Snacks/biscuits/ribena
maybe a muslin cloth or 2
pos taking my germaloids too
dark coloured towel
maybe even some make up!
and my hairbrush etc
pos my arnica tablets too
present for ds when he come to visit from his new little sister

LO's things bag
Nappies
soft small baby towel
cotton wool pads (can't stand the feel of the balls?!)
couple of hats
some sleepsuits
some vests
blanket
going home outfit (we know what we're having so makes it easier)
tiny tester pot of sudacream just in case

Just getting DS's overnight/daytime/activities stuff together too.

Also must remember to take babies car seat with us to aunties too...

LoobyLou36 · 01/04/2009 21:47

divedaisy a GIRL!! lovely

I hope I get a growth scan but I still don't want to know what flavour - or do I?

FiKelly · 01/04/2009 21:52

YAY divedaisy congrats! what a lovely time to find out not long to go but still enough time for some girly shopping

LoobyLou36 · 01/04/2009 21:59

great list fikelly

had forgotten about breast pads and socks

Jennster · 01/04/2009 22:06

Good evening ladies.

Bloody computer keeps crashing on me.

Hens My neighbour has them and I'm very jealous, but just right now I'd rather get the house sorted. Next year after we've been in the house a year we'll look at the garden and decide what goes where. I need a green house in my new garden and a play area for the skids and vegetable patch would be nice. My fabulous raised beds at the old house are probably being used as cats toilets. [sob]

Spangle I'm thinking of you and hoping everything is going well

Belgian Good luck with your presentation tomorrow. I HATE doing presentations but you've had some great tips. You've been ace on this thread.

Blotted Ow, hope you've not done too serious an injury.

Chica Hello [waves]

Chocolate I'd like to get virtually hammered on red wine I think. Some Stinking Bishop, pate and unwashed bagged salad and virtually no hangover the next morning please. No sod it. I'm virtually going to mix my drinks and have champagne AND cocktails on top of the red wine.

Pula (and everybody else with playing up children) I know what you mean. Dd can be a little monster, and ds too has very few words that other people can understand anyway. He seems to be trying to potty train himself at the moment though. I'M not ready for that!

Looby I wore nothing at the end, and a nightshirt for most of it. Mws were a bit but you'd have thought they'd seen it all before?

Zippy tummy LOL. Dd informed me I would have a big hole round my belly button where baby would get out. We were sitting in the bath and I said no actually I already had a hole. Where? Dh said from mummy's vulva. DD just took this in and started pouring water on my pubic hair saying she was washing the 'doors'

homebirth just remembered a really good tip. When you want to have a bath, make sure you have a load of blu-tack to block the overflow pipe so you can get the water nice and deep and over your bump.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 01/04/2009 22:11

Jennster

@ 'washing the doors'

Tummum · 01/04/2009 22:16

Spangle thinking of you, hope all goes well

Belgian good luck for tomorrow. You have been so helpful to us all, I am sure you will absolutely fly tomorrow

Looby I was in a pool so (to coin a Chocolate phrase) in the nip. (anyone would think I'm obsessed...)

pulapula · 01/04/2009 22:16

Divedaisy - a little girl- how exciting to find out. And so happy to hear your DS is chuffed too.

fi- your list is really comprehensive- it will really help me with my packing.

As for what i wore during labour- i had an old nightie, but ended up in a hospital nightie when my waters broke- i certainly didn't expect such a lot of water!

With my elective, they gave me a gown and i put it on with the gap at the front (thinking they would need it for access to my bump, not thinking that access for the spinal was more important and I assume for the op, they just lifted it up (and covered up my modesty- I hope ).

Tummum · 01/04/2009 22:18

Oh, and Dive a girl how wonderful - I love girls, they're fab. And challenging

Jennster · 01/04/2009 22:19

Oh and I had my refresher parentcraft lesson today. What a waste of time. The mw was a lovely lady I'm sure, but very opinionated. Of the 2hours, the first 30 mins were totally focused on one lady who obviously needed help, but was almost made to be terrified by the mw tutor, and mortified that everybody's attention was on her. She confirmed everything I've already been told about the place being short staffed and ready to intervene without exploring every avenue first. I walked out of the hospital thinking I REALLY don't want to give birth there....

detsy · 01/04/2009 22:20

Oh girls....I have NEWS.....good news....anyone interested?????

Jennster · 01/04/2009 22:21

Go on!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 01/04/2009 22:22
