Right, ok, I think the head is too high for me to prod it still as it was not engaged at the last MW appointment and doesn't feel like anything has changed. In normal life my cervix is way beyond my particularly stubby fingers and I haven't dared to rummage yet in this weird pg life. I think I will do a nice 1950s-schoolgirl-piano-pupil nail trim later this evening and then... go in. maybe.

LuLuBai · 24/03/2009 12:04

Springy - I imagine you sleep wrapped Koala style around DH's leg

SpringySunshine · 24/03/2009 12:07

Yes, LuLu - but perhaps more like a frisky Jack Russell

& yes, Sarah, I think you should Join the weird cervix-touching dark side

BabyBolat · 24/03/2009 12:09

Springy - can you describe the hole - is it up near the back or near the front or dead on?

Schulte · 24/03/2009 12:10

Back from swimming. Boff, I have emailed you.

BB, bloody gooey babies are very slippery - I was so scared of DD falling off my chest!

Springy - thinking about it, I wouldn't want to wake up with a wet leg I think I'd find it quite gross if DH did that to me!

LuLu - Kew Gardens is a great idea. Will do that.

Bronze - did you send your DCs to playgroup in the end? And is DS fine now? I hope so x

SpringySunshine · 24/03/2009 12:17

Argh, where's mathsmummy? She's the expert! I'll answer as well as I can, but I may get it wrong.

In my experience, it moves around. It started off sort of quite far up & back & was quite a struggle to reach, as it was far away & also required a bent finger to prod at properly.

Now it's much further down, but it's also difficult to know exactly what's going on (for me, at least) because TMI I'm internally quite swollen, which is apparently due to increased blood-flow - the walls of my vagina are all puffy & it all feels different anyway & I'm not sure if that's the same for everyone.

But now, for me, it's not so far up at all & very easy to reach. It's still slightly backwards, but not really noticeably so. I've heard people say that it should feel like the inside of your cheek, but it's not quite like that. In terms of surface texture, it is quite a lot like that, but it's sort of more cushioned, IYSWIM.

If you wriggle your finger around a little bit, you can find the middle of the ring. I think I could probably get two fingertips into the middle of mine now, but that's a new development. & if they baby's engaged, as I say, you can prod the small gap in the middle & you'll find a solid, round thing - that's the baby's head

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 24/03/2009 12:20

Springy - ROFL "He'd really better be intending to come out soon & not just piss about on the precipice of life for the next 4 weeks" love it!!! lol at your dh

BB - yes we are

Bronze - sorry, didnt mean to make you cry!! no problem though glad everything is ok though xx

Gingersarah - gwwwannnnn get in there!! you know you want to

I don't think he'd mind, Schulte. I mean I don't think that he'd enjoy it (I'm resisting the urge to make golden shower jokes... Resisting... Resisting...), but he'd be okay with it. He was the one who asked me whether he'd be allowed in the birthing pool with me if I wanted him there & all I could say was ' but it'll be full of poo & ickiness!', but apparently it's unimportant in the circumstances.

I think he's able to focus on the baby thing far beyond the disgusting bits that are necessary before that. Until he's confronted with them, at least

SpringySunshine · 24/03/2009 12:21

Nutty, you make everyone cry. You're such a bully

LuLuBai · 24/03/2009 12:22

Schulte - I tried to take her to lots of outdoor places as she was totally covered in spots (and treated a bit like a leper because of it).

If your DD doesn't come down with it you could do a few other outdoorsy things within closer proximity to the general public - maybe a boat trip down the Thames? Obviously the gardens at Hampton Court are near you. Perhaps a trip to the zoo (although getting a toddler across town when heavily pg is not so much fun).

Have you ever been to Bocketts Farm in Leatherhead? Lots of animals to see, touch and cuddle, tractor rides, huge adventure playground.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 24/03/2009 12:25

Just marking my spot for later.

bronze · 24/03/2009 12:27

I have an image of puzzle with leg cocked now

PuzzleRocks · 24/03/2009 12:27

Nuts - So are you now due the 27th?

SpringySunshine · 24/03/2009 12:27

When you keep saying how you're at the end of the month & so far behind everyone else, I didn't think that you thought that you were still in double figures! Daft woman

I can't imagine how relieved you must suddenly feel

It really isn't long now, for any of us. HURRAH!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 24/03/2009 12:28

Springy - well that particular shower wouldnt be quite so "golden" lol

LuLuBai · 24/03/2009 12:29

Ah Schulte - a little bit of googling came up with a helpful website of days out with the kids you can search by indoors or outdoors and the county or area. Quite useful.

I am quite a garden-geek so my DD has done her fair share of garden tours of historical houses etc (mazes are best avoided with toddlers I find).

For a free activity I would really recommend taking a picnic and checking out the Isabella Plantation in Richmond Park around now as it should be in full flower and it's just a riot of colour and little ones love to run around in there.

bronze · 24/03/2009 12:30

Shulte
ds1 went to school ds2 stayed with dh and dd went to playgroup . I've just picked her up and apparently she hasnt been her happy self. shes pretty grey and her ears just exploded. Here we go again....

Ginger Sarah my babies engaged though it keeps moving up and down. At the mo its halfway and I can't feel anything. (I actually thought I would try this time)

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 24/03/2009 12:30

Puzzle - No still the 30th, i'm just going by what the mw said was on her dial thingumy

bronze · 24/03/2009 12:30

lulu thats a fantastic site

BabyBolat · 24/03/2009 12:31

kew gardens and richmond park get my vote - also when my little cousin was born, we took her elder brother to do grown up things to help him adjust - maybe take her for a grown up lunch and do big girl things so when she has to go back to big girl playgroup it might not be so bad!!

LuLuBai · 24/03/2009 12:31

Nutty that is brilliant! The countdown is on. Really not long to go now!!!

SpringySunshine · 24/03/2009 12:32

Neither would the other sort, Smutts - I'm always very well hydrated, I'll have you know.

LuLuBai · 24/03/2009 12:33

Oh bronze - poor DD.

SpringySunshine · 24/03/2009 12:34

bronze, for DD. How's your DS now?
