Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I can just imagine the poor man, surrounded by all our bumps, in some kind of really sick end of pregnancy orgy scenario, with us all insisting he Does The Deed on demand. He'd probably never have sex again after that, poor chap.

SpringySunshine · 22/03/2009 09:39

Right, the quick catch up from last night:

Thanks for the dishwasher link. I've looked at tabletop dishwashers before, but decided they weren't worth it / we don't have enough work surface to spare anyway. The sort of thing you're talking about is potentially a possibility, although I'm not sure. The main problem is that we're in a rented flat, so can't just start pulling cupboards out willy-nilly. I shall ask DH what he makes of it, though & see if it's worth further research.

Ju, Mrs Weasley was obviously pouring tea for people that she hadn't made herself

Schulte, am so glad that your DD had a great time & none of the kids ate the poisonous berries. That's always a bonus I hope you're suitably pampered today to make up for your efforts yesterday!

BabyBolat · 22/03/2009 09:42

Springy you are up very early for a sunday morning!!!

SpringySunshine · 22/03/2009 09:42

Haha, at least it'd be a story to tell down the pub

Oddly, he doesn't seem that bothered by the whole pregnancy thing. I've spent the last few months expecting him to decide that he just can't face it anymore because I'm too huge & disgusting, or because he might 'touch the baby' or something. But as it is, he's perfectly fine (although I think he'll be more fine when I'm not huge & disgusting ) & impressed by my huge norks as much as anything [rolls eyes]

BabyBolat · 22/03/2009 09:42

LOL boff at pregnancy orgy!!

SpringySunshine · 22/03/2009 09:44

I know, BB! Especially as I lost about a 4 hour block of sleep in the middle of the night because I was thinking 'argh, I have too much to do before the baby comes!' & because LO was going crazy in there. I've never felt anything like what he was doing for some of last night - I think he was running around packing his bags

I am really tired, but can't just lie in bed now. It's not very comfortable anyway & DH is asleep & I was disturbing him. So I thought I'd come & see who was here & have a read of my breastfeeding book for a bit

About the bathroom - are you mad?

BabyBolat · 22/03/2009 09:48

I know - maybe it's my form of nesting (deciding what I want and paying people to do it for me )

OOoh what was he like (LO's movements not DH I think we all know what DH is like after his labour-enducing powers !!). I hate lying in bed at the moment too - just all feels too heavy and uncomfy!!

gingersarah · 22/03/2009 09:48

Morning!

V. happy about Boobz news on the other thread.

Please explain: what is the form for Mother's day when you have not physically expelled any babies? Do I have to get off mt fat arse and make my own breakfast? Starving!

BB you are a better woman than me x 1000 to be doing home improvements.

Springy, sounds promising...

BabyBolat · 22/03/2009 09:50

I would like to point out I will not be doing any home improvements, I will be purchasing things and lovely family members and professionals will be doing the home improvements - they reckon it will be done in a weekend so that is fine by me!!!

brettgirl2 · 22/03/2009 09:51

IANBU yay!!!! (although possibly this thread is a touch biased). If you're going to pop today springy you need to get a move on.

New bathroom sounds lovely, assuming you have more than one toilet? We only have one and are having a new floor fitted in the next week or so. I am quite worried about how it is going to be when I have to turf the poor chap out every hour so I can use the toilet.

BabyBolat · 22/03/2009 09:52

morning ginger - before DH left for the gym, he had the leftover rolls from lunch yesterday and said he will pick up some bread and milk on the way home and we can have breakfast together when he gets home (which I will probably make!) So while we SHOULD be getting pampered I thin the reality is it wont happen - at least not in the BB household!!

BabyBolat · 22/03/2009 09:53

brettgirl - no we don't but I wont be at the house and they reckon they can get the toilet off, floor laid and back on in 3-4 hours so it's up to them to meet their own deadlines!!

SpringySunshine · 22/03/2009 09:54

Oh, has she finally had the baby? Poor woman was in labour for ages! Having said that...

BB, I like your form of nesting! I had the one day last week, & I think that's all I'm getting. DH is clearly immune also - despite our crib still being in bits & despite me waving bloody knickers in his face this morning, he's fast asleep. It will be done today, so he can forget wriggling out of it.

The movements were really difficult to describe. I was lying on my left side (of course ) & had both of my hands between my hip & my ribs, covering the length of my bump. & for about 60-90 minutes, they just kept getting booted so hard that they were lifting away from my bump, as he hurled himself around. The other side of me was getting quite a lot of abuse, too - every time he kicked / punched me, it propelled him backwards into my left side / the bed. I hope he's not going to have that much energy once he's outside!

SpringySunshine · 22/03/2009 09:58

I don't think I will be popping today I've only had a few BH this morning, although I do have very faint period pain.

How long do you think I've got, realistically? I know that a show doesn't mean anything is happening very soon, but do you think it means the next 2 weeks? 3? What about if I have more sex?

As for pampering, I've just eaten a few Rusks for breakfast because all of the bowls are dirty & I still can't do the washing up without being sick. It sounds like such a good excuse, but it's genuinely annoying after a while. It's the only thing that still sets off my morning sickness. At 37 weeks, it should be leaving me alone! So yes, that's my mother's day experience so far

BabyBolat · 22/03/2009 09:59

I am sure he will! My LO at the moment feels like he or she is rummaging in my pelvis, at the scan, it's hands were all curled up by its chin in my pelvis and feels like a little ferret in there wriggling around!

I find if I want DH to do something I just have to tell him IT IS being done and very often you will hear me saying, "right, we are going to have breakfast and then start the crib" or "ok after this programme we are going to do XX" that is giving him no choice whatsoever!

SpringySunshine · 22/03/2009 10:02

I was meant to say 'my right side / the bed' at the end of my post about the movement, obviously. Told you I need more sleep

Yes, when DH was awake for a brief time this morning (of his own accord - I resisted waking him!) I showed him the blood & said 'I want to get our hospital bags finished today, I want to write a birth plan (the MW is coming to do it with me a week today, but I don't want to be caught short) & the crib needs to be put together.'

He said he would do it today, but he's certainly not leaping up with any urgency

BabyBolat · 22/03/2009 10:03

I don't know re show depends if the whole plug is out or it's just coming out in bits - I googled it for you and one woman said wt was 2 weeks after her show and another said it was 20 minutes - some people don't get it until they are in labour and about to pop!! It's so annoying - I wish they could say right from when you baby engages it is X weeks and from the show it is X days!!!

I can't comment on the sex q as DH has now banned it again but as long as you are not having bad side effects you might be ok - as long as your waters aren't leaking etc you should be ok for infection and bits (NOT that I am encouraging you to do the deed anymore!!!)

BabyBolat · 22/03/2009 10:03

who is boobz - what have i missed?

SpringySunshine · 22/03/2009 10:09

Why has he banned sex again?! What?! Is he crazy? The longer he withholds sex the longer we have to try to keep our babying to a minimum so as not to upset you

I hate the ambiguity on the timings. It's so stupid that from full-term there's still potentially 5 weeks of waiting. We just want to know! It shouldn't be too much to ask!

Boobz is on the March thread & part of the first time HBers thread. She was in labour (proper not-sleeping-labour) since Tuesday, or something ridiculous, & had her baby at 6ish this morning, by the look of it. She managed the HB, though - it was looking like she was going to have to go into hospital simply because it was going on so long & she was getting too tired. She's done really well.

SpringySunshine · 22/03/2009 10:11

Crap, we also don't have a car seat.

Damn my not believing that this baby was coming!

mathsmummy27 · 22/03/2009 10:13

I know - what a marathon !! was following with equal parts admiration and horror

BabyBolat · 22/03/2009 10:15

Oh I have come to terms with you all popping before me!!!
It just freaks him out - and I kind of get it but at the same time is very very frustrating also am quite tempted to get him back once this is all over and just be like 'sorry it just freaks me out knowing there is a baby in the other room!!'

Car seat - is probably a good thing to get organised - did your pram not come with one? you got the travel system one yeah?

mathsmummy27 · 22/03/2009 10:18

BB - my DH is the same. it's been months....

lol at getting him back

SpringySunshine · 22/03/2009 10:19

Yeah, we have a travel system, but the car seat needs buying separately because I think that we're going to get one of the universal ones that you can fit on with an adapter thing - the one that matches the pram is really expensive & not very good.

Maybe try very obviously taking things into your own hands, so to speak, & let his male pride force him to come & 'rescue' you

& MM, I know! That's some serious dedication to HB right there - I can't imagine how knackered she must be. She must be quite delusional by now!

Juwesm · 22/03/2009 10:29

Morning!

Yay for bloody shows, Boobz and posibly Yay (though ) for pregnancy orgy!!!

It strikes me that my life has taken a turn for the bizarre. Not only am I pregnant, which is strange enough on its own, but I am planning to give birth to it in a small blue paddling pool in the middle of the living room. Is that not rather strange? It sounds like a weird dream.
