I caught dh watching a rerun of the interceptor the other day. They should so bring that back

SpringySunshine · 21/03/2009 12:45

It's shown on Challenge. It's on every weeknight at 6. Or at 7, on Challenge +1. This is how exciting my life is

Knightmare was ace. Nearly everyone that went on that was Jewish for some reason. & for some equally unknown reason I've always wanted to be Jewish (despite being an atheist!) so I felt a certain affinity for them

It's also our anniversary today - a whole year since our first everything, really - & look. Full-term with his baby on the same day. I should be ashamed

DH is currently making us a picnic to take to the park. I love that man.

bronze · 21/03/2009 12:47

the weathers lovely here and I'm stuck in the house. I've never known it like this. They're all sat still not talking watching tv its a bit eerie really.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 21/03/2009 12:51

At least they're quiet

I think it's picnic time! Back laterrrrrrrrrr.

I'll eat some Creme Eggs for you all! (I've been saving them as a special treat for full-term & haven't had any all year & now I get to eat my own body weight in them. Nom nom nom.)

bronze · 21/03/2009 12:52

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 21/03/2009 12:54

Afternoon all just quickly saying hello before my parents get here for lunch

happy birthday to your DD Schultes - LuLu when is it your LO's?

Springy happy anniversary / full term!! Lovely day for a picnic!! Love Love Love Crystal Maze - Aztec land (desert place was my favourite!!!)

Boff - YASOOOOOONBU!!! We have the same thing with my dad'd brother - we've been invited to their wedding but have been told (via a third party) that because of costs and numbers the baby wont be invited (a 6 month old who will not require food or a chair!!!) I got really angry and said we wouldn't be going because it was just so rude and how could I leave a young child with strangers (all the family will be at the wedding) especially when I will be breastfeeding - the thing is it's not even the real reason he doesn't want the baby there - it will be the first time that our extended family will see the baby and he doesn't want the spotlight taken off of him! but I can't believe she suggested your DH go - I hope she is suitably embarrassed by the email back!

Woke up this morning to bathroom leaking into the dining room (joy) doesn't seem to be too much damage just need to get the floor up there sorted I think - think it may be a case of 'doing up what we have a'la Boff rather than getting new suite fitted!

Right parents here have to go!

Have a good afternoon!

Bleuravin · 21/03/2009 13:50

Afternoon everyone, I'm on because DH has gone for a bike ride and I'm feeling jealous and grouchy for finding myself in the house. Headache was not gone when I woke up at 8, but went back to sleep and woke up again at 10 because Dh was nudging me gently wondering if I was dead (I had a pillow over my head because the 'light' even in the darkened room was too much for me) I very cautiously removed the pillow and turned over, I found I still had a bit of a headache, but I knew that paracetemol would take care of it as it wasn't too bad. So I took my dosage and we went out for a coffee (honestly I didn't want to go out for a coffee, but DH was thinking it was a good 'outing' for me so I went along with it). Original plan was then to go for a walk in the park...but somehow that never happened and now I'm home again feeling sorry for myself. I'm going to open all the doors and windows and hopefully tape up the rest of the nursery edges/ceiling (DH hasn't got around to it) so that I can paint tomorrow or later today maybe.
Do you gals get a bit jealous being left at home while your DH/DPs go out for fun? I feel horribly guilty about it...but not much I can do in my current condition- if I weren't so heavily pregnant I would either be out biking too or at least out for a nice walk... I hate doing things by myself.

bronze · 21/03/2009 16:03

this must be a record, noone has posted since I went and lay down with dd.

bronze · 21/03/2009 16:05

bleu- glad your headaches feeling better

I had the record of all arguments with dh the other day about him just being able to sod off

Juwesm · 21/03/2009 17:08

Afternoon all! I hope everyone is having lovely days/ parties etc.

Bleu - glad you are feeling a bit better. Think you ladies are getting into my subconscious, as I managed to develop a monster headache last night and was up at 3am googling PE, followed by convincing myself LO had turned breech on me as I had hiccups at the top of my bump instead of the bottom (BB's day must have got into my head too!). However, all better this morning.

Today I have been quite productive. This morning DH and I went into Canterbury and purchased dark towels and a shower curtain for HB (plus stocked up on Gaviscon!).

(BTW - My mother informed me last night that lots of heartburn = baby with lots of hair, so there you go!).

This afternoon we went over to get birth pool from lovely midwife friend. It is brand new, unused and FREE!. It is one of the nice Made in Water ones, and not only did she give us the pool, but also a little electric pump which inflates it in about 3 minutes, a thermal lid to keep water warm, another pump for pumping water out afterwards, a hose which has been sterilised with milton (better than our hose which has been in the garden and is full of yuck!), two camping-type sleeping rolls for kneeling/ lying/ mooing on and a huge roll of thin plastic sheeting for laying down everywhere! I feel fully prepared for HB now! This evening we are going to play at filling the pool to see how long it takes and whether the boiler explodes.

Re: Crystal Maze - I agree, Aztec Zone was definitely the best. I don't believe I ever saw anyone win in the Crystal Dome.

Re: Nightmare - that was my absolute favourite programme when I was young. I sooooo wanted to go on there.

Wish I had a creme egg. Wonder if DH will get one for me?

BoffinMum · 21/03/2009 17:49

Hello again.

Friend has now emailed again, and said of course we might want to come along with just the baby as it's so tiny. I think she realises she put her foot in it. I am pleased she has seen sense.

We are now the proud owners of two dwarf hamsters named Nibbles and Hamtro, who have taken residence in the fine pirate-style hamster cage we bought last weekend. However there is a major territorial battle going on over the dominance of the hamster wheel, and they are apparently fighting tooth and claw. It is possible we may not have any hamsters tomorrow at this rate. They are very cute, though.

I am quite fed of the whole baby thing now, and have announced to DH that he can bring him up as I am bored already. He appears to have agreed to do nights!!

bronze · 21/03/2009 18:13

whos soontobes buddy. theres a close sling on ebay finishing tomorrow at a reasonable price no bids and Iknow shes looking for one

SpringySunshine · 21/03/2009 18:29

BB, how rude about your dad's brother not inviting your LO 'because of costs'. It wouldn't cost a penny! Terrible excuse. I think you've hit the nail on the head with not wanting the spotlight taken off him. How daft.

& boo for the leaky bathroom Not what you need right now! It's good that it doesn't seem to be a huge job, though.

I hope you had a nice lunch with your parents

Bleu, I'm glad that your headache was better. I don't get envious about DH going out for fun, because he doesn't He does go out to uni & I think he makes the most of that (as in they sit in the pub between lectures!) but I spend that time here anyway, & I don't mind that because it's always between fixed hours. The rest of the time he's with me. Especially now he's paranoid that I'm going to go into labour without him.

Ju, you are obviously very easily influenced I've heard that about hairy babies & heartburn. I hope it's true - I love bald babies & I've not had very bad heartburn. I've had some (more reflux than heartburn, actually) but nowhere near as much as I think is usual (it's about the only non-dangerous thing I've missed on my list of symptoms), so maybe I'll get a cute little baldy Like a mini Richard O'Brien (I've seen a few people win in the Crystal Dome, but they usually flailed around looking panicked instead of actually being logical about what they were doing).

& big yay for HB preparation! Almost like it's going to happen soon!

Boff, keep an eye on the hamsters - sometimes they do fight. One of mine killed the other once. My dad had to separate them with a pencil (there was no way he was going to put his fingers in there!) & the smaller one survived for a few days in a separate cage, but was too hurt. The other one was a total psychopath, though. He hated me in particular & hurled himself at the bars hissing every time I walked into the room It was oddly scary considering he was only about 3 inches tall.

BoffinMum · 21/03/2009 18:34

Bloody hell, I am really worried about the hamsters now. I hate dead pets. Our pets always die horrible deaths. It could be a bloodbath down there tomorrow morning.

SpringySunshine · 21/03/2009 18:35

We had a lovely picnic in the park with egg mayo & cheese sandwiches (separately, obviously!), crisps, cheese & crackers, & CREME EGGS! Yummy. I love my DH

Then we walked over to the community centre in the middle of the park which we've never seen inside. It was surprisingly good! There's stuff in there for all ages of kids (as well as adult education classes) & a lovely cheap, very child-friendly café. & most excitingly, there's a crèche where you can just turn up & dump your child from 6 months onwards for £3 an hour without pre-booking or anything - & it looks really good! It feels really reassuring to think that even if I never use it that it's there, just in case I feel myself getting to the end of my tether at any point & need an hour or two of quiet.

Tonight we're going to go & watch Slumdog Millionaire which I've still not got around to seeing, despite intending to for weeks. Now I'm full-term I'm determined to go to the cinema a couple more times just because I can.

SpringySunshine · 21/03/2009 18:41

I think it is really rare - you're probably only experiencing a normal territorial thing with them & it'll settle down. But do be aware that sometimes they're just mental.

BoffinMum · 21/03/2009 18:43

We had a psychopath rabbit once. It kept attacking us. Small furry things are evil.

bronze · 21/03/2009 18:51

what kind are they? I used to breed campbells. funny little things they are. What sexs are they?
We used to put two wheels in each cage because though it was funny seeing them each try to run opposite ways I did have one that broke its back on a wheel and it was horrible

BoffinMum · 21/03/2009 18:58

They are dwarf Russian hamsters and we think they are probably females, from what the pet shop man said.

bronze · 21/03/2009 19:02

You hope our first ever two were called Emma and Phillipa until Phillipa became Emma as Emma had to become Philip

BoffinMum · 21/03/2009 19:10

Bugger

Does that mean they might start breeding down there between fights???

I knew this pet thing was a bad idea.

mumblemumhome4lunch · 21/03/2009 19:16

hope everyone's had good a day. About to do the evening catch up and see if any more babies yet...get excited just thinking about it

Can't stop for lung as will have to make DH stop plumbing works for tea at some point - yes hes got more parts today and still at it. We do actually have a dishwasher now, yipee!, so once it isn't all leaking (big puddle under sink this morning [humm]) we'll be freed from that daily chore.

best go see what's been happening
