the thing is it would be my personal car just for me, for those thelma and louise moments (child free zone)

the only thing i would possibly be amazingly selfish about.

One of dhs friends has a westfield that dh is insured on. It was fun in the days of no kids ti bomb around norfolk on a sunny day in it. Ridiculously fun car.

SpringySunshine · 20/03/2009 19:08

I've just spent ages reading about slings only to decide that I don't want one until I've established breastfeeding (as that's the main reason I'd want one anyway) & I won't know what'll suit us best until that actually happens. What a waste of time.

I've also found myself becoming a bit obsessed with BFing. I started the pregnancy intending to FF. Then I thought I'd give BF a go, but pretty much just leave it, without guilt, if it wasn't immediately easy. Now I'm becoming quite militant about it & I'm worried that it won't work & I'll feel awful. Whenever I let my mind wander I seem to end up thinking about BFing in some way - like I'm preparing for some massive exam. It's funny how much my opinions have changed in a few months.

mathsmummy27 · 20/03/2009 19:09

evening all. well I have finally finished work
although am a bit scared about how I will spend my time now..oh dear, step away from the cervix...

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/03/2009 19:10

OP posts:
bronze · 20/03/2009 19:10

mm all cervix searching is done in non mning time

SpringySunshine · 20/03/2009 19:10

It's okay, MM - we'll keep you occupied

mumblemumhome4lunch · 20/03/2009 19:12

evening all - can't believe it, both DC asleep and it's only 6.45pm !!!

Had a big day out including slap up lunch as car had to go in for service/MOT and couldn't get a courtesy car as we usually do and the garage is in a rather nice town a few miles away. So loads of walking for them and frsh air and exciting cafe lunch and they were just bushed - love this kind of day so feeling very happy right now.

Mind you having trouble the last few days with almost nodding off at very strange times......wondering if it might be the codine the Dr has me on for the back pain. It's working great so would rather keep taking it but have almost fallen asleep

  1. in middle of reading book to DD
  2. in bath last night
  3. in garden helping DC paint/make daffodil easter egg holders
  4. sat on park bench watching kids feeding ducks
Feels really odd and whilst I have been sleeping pretty badly it's much the same as it has been for months now so why suddenly like this?? Wondering if I should go back to DR about it before I nod off in the car or something

Going to catch up a bit now and see how you all are doing

mathsmummy27 · 20/03/2009 19:13

Thanks Springy
re: breatsfeeding (oh dear it sounds like the start of a dodgy work email)..
I know how you feel - i had this last time and beginnng to feel it creep up on me again.
Like it's a big test of motherhood..even though clearly not.

Boff will be along to say something sensible shortly, or Nutty to say something smutty...

bronze are you suggesting I could multitask like that??!! not even me...

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/03/2009 19:15

Springy - BF by all means but dont pressure yourself too much!! it is hard going, but good too. i suppose what i'm trying to say is dont build yourself up too much cos you can hit a difficult patch and beat yourself up unessesarily. I'm sure you will be fine with it sweety but please dont look at it as some sort of test of motherhood.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/03/2009 19:19

Mumble - dont drive the car if you're taking the co codamol it does make you drowsy!! or only take it when you know you wont be driving for the rest of the day.

MM - step away from the crevix lol

OP posts:
SpringySunshine · 20/03/2009 19:19

I know the logic of it - I wasn't at all bothered to begin with! It didn't even really occur to me to BF as stupid as that sounds - I've never encountered it in RL & I just thought of it as painful & hard work.

Now I can see all the advantages of it & really want to make it work out, but I know that it's not always exactly straightforward. I think I am feeling about it as though it is some sort of exam - not as in I'll fail my baby (at least mostly not that), but sort of that it's a challenge to do well & that the rewards if I do will be worth it.

tristaleejac · 20/03/2009 19:19

this is the car for me, ladies

bronze · 20/03/2009 19:20

was that crevice or cervix? [grin}

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/03/2009 19:20

Mumble - sounds like a lovely day

OP posts:
PuzzleRocks · 20/03/2009 19:20

Nice

tristaleejac · 20/03/2009 19:21

mumble - codeine does that to me too, don't drive please, I was a hazard just walking around the house!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/03/2009 19:25

Bronze bit of both i think you have to go through the crevice to get to the cervix lol

Trista - nice lotus

Springy - just keep in mind that there are no prizes for how you feed your child and that if you cant manage it for whatever reason then that does not make you a bad mum/person or a failiure in any way. but again i'm sure you will be fine xx

OP posts:
SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/03/2009 19:26

Puzzle - yummy

OP posts:
mathsmummy27 · 20/03/2009 19:28

right, just in case you think I've disappeared to fiddle with my cervix..I'm going to bed. Not to fiddle with anything, but to sleep. OK?
because I'm REALLY tired

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 20/03/2009 19:29

Night Mathsmummy xx sleep well

OP posts:
BoffinMum · 20/03/2009 19:32

Springy, re bf, just give it 6 weeks, because it takes that long to settle down, and if you can get that far you'll probably carry on doing it out of utter laziness, because it's free and requires no preparation.
