Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
lauraloo09 · 16/03/2009 10:09

I think the worrying thing for me just now is I've lost 6lbs since Thursday as I cant face eating anything, cant be good for baby. I have a imidwife appointment on friday, here's hoping she can give me a sick line for a week

Tee2072 · 16/03/2009 10:12

laura don't worry about the baby. The baby will take everything it needs, even if that means leaving you with nothing. This is actually most likely why you've lost the weight. The baby is taking it!

Are you sure you can wait until Friday? Maybe give your antenatal clinic a call today?

OP posts:
lauraloo09 · 16/03/2009 10:56

I think I might be able to wait until Friday to get seen just wish I could sleep, maybe wouldn't feel as sick if i could sleep...anyhoo thats enough moaning from me hope everyone else is well x

insywinsyspider · 16/03/2009 11:44

laura sorry yes I did mean louise so many posts and I just don't read them properly! glad your scan went well too I also agree with Tee baby will be taking everything it needs, I've had some horrible d&v bugs and high temp over 40 deg but doc and mw assured me that nature has a way of protecting lo's which can leave you feeling even worse, time off for you to look after yourself is never a bad thing

tee when do you get results? hope they sort out what ever it is x

MrsMcJnr · 16/03/2009 12:56

Ladies just back from the hospital and now having my breakfast - god am I hungry. I was there for 5 hours they took lots of blood at 8am then I got the drink and then more blood every hour after that. My arms feel like pin cushions and I am ashamed to say that I am feeling very sorry for myself My Mum is going to the English Supermarket later so I think I'll ask for a lovely big bar of Galaxy

will catch up now....

Tee2072 · 16/03/2009 13:05

insy Well, normally I'd have them on Wednesday, but tomorrow is a stat holiday here (St. Patrick's, Ireland ya know!!) so probably not until Thursday.

Mrsmcj every hour? I've never heard of such a thing! When do you get the results?

OP posts:
chocciedooby · 16/03/2009 13:05

Oh poor you MrsMc. Sounds like a hellish morning. Why do they have to take soooo much blood. Hope you enjoy that Galaxy.

Laura so sorry to hear you are feeling so unwell. Not getting sleep is a killer and then feeling nauseaous too. I am also quite nauseous last few days and also think I have viral bug that I can't rid of. I have been off food since yesterday and I normally trough.....5lbs lost since Thursday! I am sure the baby is fine but you should get yourself checked out sooner. You will be exhausted. Hope you get time off work.I really could not do what you are doing. At least when I am home with the kids I can put my feet up from time to time.

I have only taken 3 pregnacare tablets so far. I took them following my main meal of the day (evening time) but have stopped in case they are just not right for me. I hate having an irritated stomach and I think feeling like a bloated beached whale is enough for me at the moment.

chocciedooby · 16/03/2009 13:08

Weighed myself this morning and I have put on 9.7kgs so far. I am sure I had put 10kgs on a few weeks ago but haven't weighed myself since. I haven't been eating so well over the last week so maybe I have also lost a few pounds lately. Wierd!

chocciedooby · 16/03/2009 13:14

I have just checked back and I am roughly the same weight I was 3 weeks ago! Is that normal? I think I am maybe getting a little paranoid. Check up on Friday was fine.

Naat · 16/03/2009 13:31

Oh, MrsMc to hear about that long morning you had... Every hour!!! Enjoy your big bar of Galaxy later on today

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 16/03/2009 13:48

Sorry to hear about your morning MrsMcJnr Enjoy your Galaxy!

choccie - that seems fine to me. Not sure about the kilos tho (old school stones here), but my weight seems to gain and level off, then gain again. As Tee said earlier, the baby takes everything from you, not your food, so it'll be getting what it needs.

Laura hope you feel better soon. Take a week off, you need it. Esp. if you can claim it's a virus and not preg related. Not sure where you are based, but you can self-certificate here for a week without a doctors note. x

Insy - glad you had a lovely weekend. The weather's fab isn't it? I've just sat in cafe garden in sunshine with MIL having drink and watching DS run around in a T-shirt. Bliss.

Well, FIL is still under the knife. 5 hours op this morning, hopefully we'll get the call in the next couple of hours to say that it's all gone okay.

Still going, sorting the front garden. I've spent the last 3.5 years being ashamed of it as people have come to visit, it's now quite daunting filling it with lovely plants as there seems to be loads to learn. Our cherry tree arrives on Thursday . Does that mean I'm now old because I love garden centres and am excited about a tree? AAAGH! What happened to the clubbing 19 year old who was so carefree and fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants? Now it's garden centres, being lapped by OAPs in town and worrying whether I'll wee myself when I sneeze..... how did it happen??

Happy Monday.... xx

tibsy · 16/03/2009 13:52

tibsy · 16/03/2009 13:55

cross posted ineed at the last part of your post. i feel exactly the same, im really into my knitting too, so what does that say about me

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 16/03/2009 14:12

tibsy at least I'm not the only one.... maybe we should just embrace our inner-OAP that's waiting to emerge....

Naat · 16/03/2009 14:16

Hi there, Tibsy

I had an energy rush this morning as well . DH left at 8 and after that I read the news, caught up on the posts here and after that started with laundry, sheet changing, hoovering, dishes . The baby didn't complain either but she did move a lot!

I guess the last two nights were good at restoring my energy after the horrid Friday night I had with 4 trips to the loo

The session yesterday was very good . We met another couple who will be doing the course with us, they seemed really nice. She's 30 wks pg with their 3rd child. We were shown some hypnobirths and some breathing techniques as well. Then our practitioner taught the DHs some sort of "light massage" (don't remember the real name) which was brilliant! Basically with very limp hands he strokes my back "in an 8 movement" from the bottom of my back to my hair. It's sooooo relaxing, I loved it . We then went on to do some relaxation exercises, which were very good, I "was gone" after 5 minutes hahaha...

Re. weight: I'm really lost there... My MW weighted me at 6wks and told me that after that they would not do it again . I don't have scales here at home but haven't noticed a drastic increase since then... I bought 2 pairs of maternity jeans in December 1 and 2 sizes bigger than my size thinking I was going to get really big and they're both still big! One of them keeps dropping! I think what some of you said is right, that the baby makes sure it has EVERYTHING it needs... but I'm scared the MW will tell me off in 2wks when I go see her...

ermintrude13 · 16/03/2009 14:48

Afternoon all, gosh, lots to catch up on which I can't do right now, but hope you're all enjoying this sunshiney day! and Ineed sending lots of good wishes for your FIL's op! Will try to get on later, ttfn.

Naat · 16/03/2009 14:51

Ineed, I forgot to put it before, lots of good wishes for your FIL's operation. Hope everything goes smoothly

LittleSarah · 16/03/2009 14:51

Nat - Glad hypnobirthing is going well, I must must must order some CDs!

They aren't big on weighing here as it isn't really a great indictation of how things are. If they were I'd be in trouble everytime! Fundal measurement is usual, have you had that yet? Don't think they usually start til 28 weeks. I've been trying to do i myself, you measure in centimetres from your pelvic bone to top of uterus, you can usually feel that fairly easily, is quite far above belly button about now I believe. Anyway it should be about the same no of cms as you are weeks. Ie 28cm = 28 weeks. I'm measuring under as I did last time, but I'm eating honest!

INeed and tibsy - I think I have been middle-aged sinc about 15. Would LOVE a garden, often fantasise about having one and tibsy I too am doing plenty of knitting!

Louise and Laura - Glad the scans went so well, and MrsMcJnr glad you got through your gtt test, sounds like an absolute PITA!

Dh bought me gorgeous Isabella Oliver maternity top which finally arrived today (won't go into detail about why I said finally but will mutter 'bloody Royal Mail in an ominous tone) so I'm very pleased, tis rather sexy!

Right, must get working, have two long interviews to transcribe and it takes forever!

chocciedooby · 16/03/2009 15:28

lol Ineed your comments about feeling like an OAP etc. I have loved gardening for years now. I find it so therapeutic. I also used to be a "fly by the seat of her pants" type of girl that loved to party but once this pregnancy is over I am going to try and find her again .

I hope everything goes ok for FIL. Sounds like a big op. Can he not eat normally from now on? Bless him.

Laura your baby girl is gorgeous! The scan pics are so clear.

Naat - massage sounds heaven.

Ermintrude enjoy the sunshine. It's fab here too.

Tibsy we don't have MW here until we are in labour. As I am under private health care this time I see my OB every month and all was ok on Friday with baba. I think I will go see GP (cost e60 every time) to see what is going on with my little old bod.

insywinsyspider · 16/03/2009 15:30

littlesarah - which top did you get? I was looking at IO stuff as I have wedding to go to 5 days before lo due and it looks gorgeous

tibsy managed another couple of chapters of book today, should try and find somewhere out side and sit out and read it at lunch time - good motivation to get away from my desk... ds's bed is so tacky but he is so cute the way he chatters on about it, after having a strop earlier in the week when we told him his liitle bro was having his (old) bed there wasn't even a backward glance as he lep into his 'car' last night - he does look tiny in it tho

ineedmore at you sitting in the sun, our office is horrible and stuffy, didn't realise fil was in for op, whats it for? hope all goes well
and I also love garden centres... and sewing and scrapbooking (am rubbish at knitting tho tried a cardie for ds1 and was too embarassed to put him in it!) I think I was born middle aged!

tibsy · 16/03/2009 16:46

naat that sounds absolutely wonderful. have been amazingly slack when it comes to looking after myself this time, despite having regular massages etc whilst pg with dd. think part of my energy boost is my resolution to become more proactive in looking after myself. i read the gentle birth method by gowri motha when pg with dd, some of it was a bit 'out there'!! but there was a great meditation/hypnosis cd to accompany it

lilsarah at your sexy new top. i've got some decidedly unmaternity frilly knickers to help me feel a bit more sexy sometimes!!!! please, come join ineed and myself in the premature oap corner

choccie for having to pay e60 every time, but its got to be worth it if it sets your mind at rest. am sure itll all be fine tho x

insy yay for the couple of chapters. wondering whether to see the film, hve heard mixed reviews. def get out in that sunshine lovely, escape the office!!! sun gives me a mega boost for sure. bless lo, what a cutie patootie

ineed hope all has gone well with fil

bigcar · 16/03/2009 16:50

Afternoon all

Ineed, sending good thoughts your fils way, wishing him a speedy recovery.

insy, they grow up so quickly don't they! Dd3 is starting nursery after easter so we've been to the uniform sale this afternoon to get her a couple of school jumpers, the smallest size swamps her, she's not 3 until the end of the month. By the time i've washed them and put them through the drier they'll fit fine

My dh has kindly decided that I have turned into my mother I do like gardening but am really rubbish at it, I have quite a knack of killing things! Not really managing anything other than watching the kids running around the garden at the moment thanks to the spd At least I should manage to get some knitting done, that I can do Just wish i'd inherited my nans talent for dress making, she was fab, could make anything.

MrsMcJnr, heavy morning! Enjoy the chocolate, hope it's one of the large bars I didn't think other european countries would vary that differently in care, obviously they do!

Littlesarah, they go more on fundal height than weight here too, but i'm measuring large for dates at the moment.

tee, caught sight of your thread about pants, was just wondering if it was a reciprocal arrangement Hope you're feeling better after the weekend and the wait for results isn't too long.

Hope everyone else is enjoying the sun

Tee2072 · 16/03/2009 16:56

bigcar and what if it was .

I'm still feeling pretty bad over here. Hopefully will get test results sooner rather than later!

I have yet to be weighed by my MW. Or had my fundal height measured, but the next time I see MW I will be 28 weeks so maybe then?

OP posts:
Naat · 16/03/2009 17:12

LIttleSarah, yes, one of the MWs measured my bump last time (I think I was 22wks) and it was 22cm, fortunately. Let's hope next time she sees me I measure the 29 cm I should by then

Oh, I join the ladies in the OAP group hahaha, as one of you said, I've been an old lady since my teens Never been too much of a party girl, I must admit... went out and had fun but never got too crazy

CHoccie hope you get some answers from GP. Esp. with the extra cost you must pay for each visit And yes, that soft massage is heaven indeed... I'm demanding some every night as of today

helpivegottogivebirth · 16/03/2009 17:20

Anyone else here interested in a home birth?
I've just come back from the mid-wife and have registered my interest.
