Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mathsmummy27 · 19/02/2009 20:43

Schulte I am with you. Bought DD a book about what happens when we have the baby (ie arrangements-wise) and she is delighted with it, keeps wanting to read it. And the last page is the mummy, daddy, little girl and baby all snuggling up together. And all I keep thinking is 'bloody hell, what happens next!?'

I am having major pressure down there, very dodgy tummy, baby feels like it is poking out already...be honest ladies do we think it's going to happen soon (!!!!!!) ?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 19/02/2009 20:44

Schulte - ((hugs)) try not to worry too much or feel to down. Everything has a way of working out. Sometimes when babies arent your own there is no real interest (not in a bad way) but nothing compares to your own. Also as cute as babies can be, lets be honest, all they do is wee/poo cry and get fed and dressed and bathed its when they grow up and their little personalities shine through that is the really fun and exciting bit. those of us with littlies already all worry about how we will manage with 1 extra and the impact on our current family, its perfectly natural. Putting off preparing for the baby is natural too, you want to focus on what you have now and thats fine ((hugs))

you will manage and get through this and for the times when you feel you cant there is always us (who will be more than likely going through something similar) chin up xx

Oooh Maths I hope so!!! (sorry if that is not what you want to hear!) how many weeks are you now?

I had a lot of pressure for the past couple of weeks, when I walked it almost felt like I could feel the head edging it's way down!

I have the hospital tomorrow and one part of me secretly wants them to tell me I am well on my way and it will be here in a week or so but you never can tell really can you!!

LuLuBai · 19/02/2009 20:52

Schulte I totally sympathise. I have low days where I wonder what on earth I am doing. (And then I have brief highs where I think I want to have lots and lots of kids - but then I remember what having a newborn is like!)

I just remember how utterly rough I felt after having DD and I have no idea how I will cope with chasing around after her feeling like that. And of course she isn't sleeping very reliably at the moment so I am already feeling a bit like a zombie. Everything went very badly wrong this evening (she's got tummy ache) and right now she is curled up in my arms as I type rather than in bed asleep. So what happens when you have two babies who won't sleep?

I keep telling myself I am not the first person to have more than one child and that millions of people around the world cope, so it will be OK.

Plus I keep reminding myself that I always struggle a bit through February (the winter starts to feel so endless) and that Spring really brightens my mood.

And as conker says I know that DD will benefit from having a sibling.

I'm sure it will all be fine Schulte.

mathsmummy27 · 19/02/2009 20:52

Nope, that's the joy. GP has written 36 weeks on my notes although I'm only 34+1! I can't decide whether I want the painexcitement yet or not

Oh for a way of examining one's own cervix! I bet you could put a camera in it...

mathsmummy27 · 19/02/2009 20:54

speaking of which, we need a list again (anyone?) as I can't remember when everyone's due.

And has anyone heard from Barbarelly?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 19/02/2009 20:54

BOffin - come 'ere (((hugs))) not long now!!! (i know it really does feel neverending), seriously we have come this far, you and i will be raring round like deamons as soon as these lil monsters decide to make an appearance!! go out with your dh at least you will have had a change of scene xx try and think of all the things you will be able to do rather than what you cant currently (it's the only thing keeping me going, well that and mn ) xxx(((hugs))xx

I know, I wish I could tell if the head was actually engaged and how much so and how long it will take! I am actually looking forward to the labour part (she says now) because I have hated pregnancy so much that I just see it like boff said (10 threads ago or something like that) that is like the destination - once that starts, its all over!!

Labour is quite exciting BB. Sure it hurts but I really felt excited that each contraction was bringing me one step closer to finally meeting my baby. And actually I found that along with the pain I got a rush of endorphins.

Hope it's the same this time. Like Mathsmummy and others I feel this one might put in a slightly early appearance. Which would not be good. Still have at least 5 weeks to go until I can move home .

mathsmummy27 · 19/02/2009 21:08

I am getting stupidly excited. In some ways I feel lucky that I had the birth from hell last time because things can only be better! And am looking forward to having to drop everything at work (hopefully).

Thanks for list Nutty. Might well be you to pop first then BB

SalBySea · 19/02/2009 21:11

why have I been taken off the list ?

conkertree · 19/02/2009 21:17

sorry salbysea - we had a fairly ruthless cull of the list cause we were organising a buddy system and some people (not you obviously) hadnt really posted since they first went on the list, but there was bound to be some who come back more as mat leave starts, so just add yourself back on.

BoffinMum · 19/02/2009 21:23

Just for those worrying about having a second:

  1. This is my fourth. Each one so far has been different in personality and eaten and slept differently. Some were more tiring than others - it seems to have alternated so far. So it's do-able tbh.
  1. If you do get too tired, perhaps because family and DH aren't around, it's perfectly OK to hire a babysitter or put the eldest into nursery for a bit of time each week, so you can have a sanity break.
  1. If you can't do that or don't want to, you have the option of trying to sleep whenever the children do. You'll lose your social life but you will get reasonably well rested.

Thanks for hug, Nutty. It's a long journey, isn't it.

Schulte · 19/02/2009 21:24

Oh you're all so wonderful, thanks for all your lovely words and advice everyone. It really helps to know that you understand how I feel and it's true, we will somehow muddle through it all together, it's so good to know you'll be here to share all the joy and pain with! And probably once spring arrives and the sun's out everything WILL seem easier anyway. Feeling better already now x

mathsmummy27 · 19/02/2009 21:30

Yes, I second that Schulte. Spring is in the air..time for bouncing lambs and bouncing babies

AND it's my birthday next week

conkertree · 19/02/2009 21:34

lol about the lambs - i have been telling myself all pg that the baby will come when the lambs do, but i saw my first lambs at the weekend, and i still have 9 weeks to go till my due date so think the fields will be full of lambs by the time it comes along.

any plans for your birthday mathsmummy?

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 19/02/2009 21:35

Ooh Mathsmummy that's exciting!! Any lovely plans for the big day?

BabyBolat · 19/02/2009 21:36

Maths tis unlikely - we definitely know Barbarelly and Oddeyes will be early March - Am pretty sure as it's my first I wont be early but am secretly hoping - the pressure has relieved slightly over the past 2 days so maybe he or she has slipeed out again!!!

Oh Sal - so sorry - when is your date again and I will add you back in xxx

BabyBolat · 19/02/2009 21:39

Boffin - somehow missed your earlier post - poor you, it must be so hard. I am always amazed at how cheerful you and Nutty sound most of the time. I guess when you're in the middle of any illness it's hard to imagine things will ever improve, but they will for you and it's really not long now.

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 19/02/2009 21:53

I'm off to bed now ladies - sweet dreams of easy labours!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 19/02/2009 22:15

Night Kitty xx

Ohhhh mathsmummy, you're a Feb girl too!! what are your plans??

Boffin - yup, long and hard! but we do have a date for the finish line (bless that edd!!) at least and really nothing can be as bad as the last few months so post baby should be fun and games all the way [hopeful emoticon] xx
