that sounds like a nice dream; Have to say mine have been full of anxiety (missing planes and exams)and dead things (shan't go into that-uck!)

Bubbaluv · 13/01/2009 12:10

Conker, Where did you see info on Amby not being recommended re SIDS?
Amby certainly claim that it is as safe if not more safe than a normal bed. Would be interested to see other opinions though if they are out there?

DungunGirl · 13/01/2009 13:24

Hey...is anyone else getting really elbowed/kneed by baby?

Oh little one is really making the most of the space while he has it..I am getting hard bits ( I am guessing elbows/knees/shoulders) really grazing against the inside of my tummy as he turns around and does his daily exercises!!

Last night, I actually had a little bit poking out momentarily which was REALLY surreal.

My first DS didn't get as mobile as this - nor did he poke me so much!!!

Bubbaluv · 13/01/2009 13:30

Dungungirl, mine is gentle compared to last time. Getting lots of kicks etc though. DS1 was really violent!

DungunGirl · 13/01/2009 13:41

I think this one is going to be a handful!!!

Kicking and poking and still got 13 weeks to go!
Oh lord!

By the way, anyone heard about the 'HEALTHY START PREGNANCY' scheme. A lady told me that only last week the rules have changed and that now EVERYONE is entitled to receive a certain amount on this scheme, no matter how much your household income is, or whether you are working.

In the past it was mainly for low income families etc.

Anyone else heard this?

BoffinMum · 13/01/2009 13:51

Dungungirl, I think she must mean the Health in Pregnancy Grant of £190. Your mw will have forms for this from this month onwards, and you have to have a due date on or after 6 April to qualify. The money will arrive in April.

Springy, I would just say to potential Doulas that you are an unmarried student and although DP is around, you have had relationship problems, and you are both very young, and have nobody nearby to lean on, so you are desparate for some support in starting life as a family. Consider getting the same one in for the birth as well, as she would be able to support DP as well as you - it's a lot for a bloke to take on first time around, frankly.

Nutty, I woulnd't fret about this. I am sure he will be great once the baby finally arrives. Even mine has been indifferent sometimes, and he is probably one of the world's best parents.

BarbarellaNz · 13/01/2009 14:12

Hi Everyone!

Sorry about the photos on profile page - I added a 'side view' one on from Xmas Day (when I was 24 weeks) and I must have done something funny to the settings! I hope those that wanted to see bump can see it now Dh will take another one this weekend for Mum and Dad (at 27 weeks) so will update then. I didn't have any scan pictures on my profile as last scan pics when you can see 'whole babies' were at 16 weeks - all arms and legs and heads now!!

BabyBolat how are you feeling today? Hope the pain has gone away.

Nutty about your dh's comment. He will absolutely LOVE the baby when it comes but is probably (as my dh is at the moment) feeling quite worried about finances/change in r/ship with you etc. and so comments came out a bit 'resentful'? Once he sees that beautiful little face he'll be smitten!

Hopeful1 No, I don't mind you asking about whether or not triplets were IVF. They were the result of our sixth IVF cycle in three years so we feel like we've won the lottery! We did get pregnant with very first try but found out I'd lost the baby at 12 week scan. With this cycle, we only had two embryos put in (that is the maximum) but one carried on dividing into identical twins so...triplets! We are very happy and grateful but beginning to feel very scared!!

purplemonkey I have also been having strange dreams - last night I woke up three times covered in sweat as well - does anyone else get this?

Nutty It's £95 in Cambridge or Norwich plus about £30 for a DVD, in a local private clinic. Ask BUPA if they will price match maybe? It is a recession ....

Barbarella Still can't get onto your profile. DH has never seen a triplet belly! Amazing the fluke of getting one set of 'real' twins as a bonus! BTW spoke to my colleague today about your bf plans - she has twins and used to run a multiple birth club, and she reckons the whiteboard is the way to go - she knew a mum with triplets who successfully did what you are planning so clearly it can be done. I still think you are amazing though.

BarbarellaNz · 13/01/2009 14:28

BoffinMum I don't know what I've done! I've gone to my profile and checked that everything is visible to all - any suggestions?

babypringle · 13/01/2009 14:32

nutty - can't remember where you are but try babybond www.babybond.com/

OH MY GOD - I HATE WORK - have been in the office since 8 and have only just been able to sneak on to MN! What is happening in the world!!!

Ok will try and catch up!

Nutty, agree with what everyone has said - also not sure what your situation was with DD but you have to remember you are pretty much stuck on a sofa for a lot of the hours in a day with not much to do so you are bound to think about things a lot more! If you were more active / working while pregnant with DD maybe you would not have so much time to 'notice' and worry so much about things - DH always says to me that while he hates the hours I work, I am much more sane when I am here because I can't think about things (over Xmas he had a lot of serious chats and conversations!!!)

Nutty, 4D scans around here (Hampshire) are about £150 depending on what package you have but they are not with BUPA!

Barbarella, feel a bit better today, my hips ache today but not the pain I had yesterday which helps - although have been so busy with work that haven't even thought about it to be fair! Can't remember who asked but yes have my maternity pillow thing that I love more than DH at night - he gets a bit funny as I no longer sleep all snuggled up to him but to my pillow!!!

Sorry if I have missed anything off!

Hope you are all ok!

Yes DH was quite jealous of the maternity pillow too - said it was like sharing the bed with a third person!

Baby keeps kicking me right in the bladder, it's really unpleasant. All this talk of 4D scans has made me think that maybe I want one too but I know DH would never sign off the budget - although could always use the £190 grant after all this will be our last baby so last chance to have one of those scans!?

There's a lot of those private scan clinics around here so how do I tell if they are any good? Any ideas?

SpringySunshine · 13/01/2009 15:51

Bleuravin, DP told me a couple of weeks ago that I was 'beginning to smell like baby' which was apparently positive, but I'm not sure what that meant exactly. I think it might have been about the colostrum starting up. He has a really strong sense of smell anyway (can tell who's in a room before opening the door ), so I feel sorry for him with my endless farts & sweatiness as well.

I had a really strange dream that I had test results from the hospital & I opened them & there was a bright yellow 'certificate' saying that I had HIV. I gasped & said 'what?!', had a few seconds thinking about how I wouldn't be able to breastfeed, that I'd not be around for my baby for very long, worrying about DP... & then pretty much just woke up in shock. I know that I don't, but it really freaked me out! I think it's probably just the sense of responsibility that I have now - I have to be here!

I would love MNers on the ward when I give birth, though. There should be a special MN hospital staffed by sexy men, motherly doulas & no shame about using the word 'fanjo' as a medical term

Nutty, I think our scan is £125, including a CD with video clips & pictures. That's Babybond, though. Definitely get BUPA to pricematch if you can!

Boffin, your description of my situation makes me feel a little less fraudulent asking for a doula now - you're fab

BB, I'm totally with Nutty on the MN breaks! The smokers' break thing really irritates me. When I work, I usually go out with the smokers & just stand there whilst they have their cigarette & a chat. I've been challenged on it before, but I don't see why they should get time off just because they have a stupid addiction Which is, of course, not at all what MN is

BabyBolat · 13/01/2009 16:09

Is it me or is anyone else over-heating - the past few days I have been sweltering (and it's not warm outside). I walked to work today in a roll neck top and no coat!!

MN is a healthy addiction!

OP posts:
SpringySunshine · 13/01/2009 16:15

I am definitely overheating. I was nearly sick earlier because I suddenly got so warm for no good reason. I was wondering for ages why DP had turned into such a pansy, whinging about the cold, before I realised that I've just become some kind of Thermos & just don't feel the -6 temperatures outside anymore. Which is really unlike me.

BabyBolat · 13/01/2009 16:21

I am sat with my head virtually out of the window!! And I just know that DH will have the heating on when I get home and I will just DIE!!!!
