Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm not really 'enjoying' pg either - I bloomed for about three weeks between the morning sickness ending and the piles/sciatica starting. A really minor moan too - I really want to be able to drink alcohol and eat blue cheese over Christmas - aarrrgghhhh!!!! I know it's wrong and absolutely would rather not and have my baby but the last few days I've just been finding it a bit difficult . I've bought some alcohol free sparkling wine to give it a try, my expectations are not high though - if it's any good then I'll let you all know (and probably live on it for the next 3 months haha)

Flat in Westminster, blimey that sounds a bit posh. I doubt the sale of my three bed terraced would cover that!!!

Happy Christmas to all

WhatFreshMistletoeIsThis · 23/12/2008 18:40

Hello lovely ladies,

Sorry have been absent for a while, started new full time job and have been doing Work-DS-Sleep and not much else....

Snowy - really touched to see you asking about me further down the thread, I didn't think anyone would notice I was gone so it was really nice. Hope you're bearing up ok, I've only skimmed the thread as there's lots of it but it sounds like you're having a tough time?

DS has been ill with the dreaded bug and work has really taken it out of me - they've been very flexible and let me work 8-4 which means I can pick up DS at 4.45 rather than 6pm, but it means getting up at 6am every day, and what with that and learning a new job and learning my way round a government agency rather than the private sector, I'm knackered! (oh yes and being pregnant, too.....)

As Boffinmum will tell you, I have also been scrubbing all the window frames in our house clear of mould and vacuuming madly as both DP and DS have got allergies to dust mites and mould - BoffinMum our brand new Miele vacuum has just broken down and has to go back to be mended, sniff! They can't pick it up till the 29th so we won't have it over Christmas boo hoo

Have got very quiet Christmas planned with DP and DS and my mum, but then a week in Lake District with ALL DP's family, which will be a trial. I intend to sit on the sofa and smile and nod a lot, and go to bed early...

I also spotted NorthernLurker somewhere down the thread, she's a lovely lady

Hope everyone's bumps are wriggly and lovely - DS has announced he wants a little sister called Lola, or possibly BagWag I said it might be a little brother, and asked him what we'd call it in that case, to which he said 'hmmmmm. we'll call it Stupid.'

I'm hoping it's a girl

PuzzYuleLogs · 23/12/2008 20:10

Tristaleejac - that's fantastic news. How wonderful for all of you.

Lixanismapolium - what a wonderful Christmas gift. Do keep us posted.

Lulu - Great to have you back. You have reminded me I have a whole year's worth of photographs to back up.

Brettgirl - my sciatica is a bitch too. I've also been dead jealous of all the pate and cheeses and copious amounts of alcohol that people having been enjoying in my presence. This is the second Christmas that I have been pregnant. I think I shall try to conceive in January next time.

FreshMistletoe - how upset would you be if I stole BagWag as a name? It bloody rocks

WhatFreshMistletoeIsThis · 23/12/2008 20:14

BagWag is a top name, isn't it? It beats SausageAndMash which was his first idea

Not so sure about Stupid.....

PuzzYuleLogs · 23/12/2008 20:14

Brettgirl - Thanks so much for the grant link.

PuzzYuleLogs · 23/12/2008 20:16

Yeah. Stupid is so overused these days. You don't want him to be one of six in his class.

WhatFreshMistletoeIsThis · 23/12/2008 20:17

That's pretty much what one of our friends said - she said 'If you call a boy Stupid, when you call him all his little friends will come running too'

chrismathsmummy25th · 23/12/2008 21:24

Merry Christmas all!
I am hugely excited. Has been great so far being pregnant over Christmas..yum...all that overindulgence BUT oh dear I have really missed the (mulled) wine too!

AND my car has just conked out. DH is gutted as it looks like he will be driving everywhere Christmas Day after all [mean grin emoticon]

chrismathsmummy25th · 23/12/2008 21:47

OOOOOH the AA man has fixed it! YAY!

I think he may have been a little embarrassed that I offered to kiss him, and hastily accepted the proferred
mince pie instead...

SantasNuttySTaff · 23/12/2008 21:52

lol mathsmummy was he cute???

chrismathsmummy25th · 23/12/2008 21:57

nope.

even in my pregnant state of continual sexual alertness, i noticed that.

SantasNuttySTaff · 23/12/2008 22:04

Oh rubbish, its christmas they could have at least sent you some mechanically skilled eye candy lol

oh well at least he fixed the car eh

SantasNuttySTaff · 24/12/2008 00:39

ITS OFFICIALLY CHRISTMAS EVE !!!!!! hooray

cant sleep too excited lol [big kid emoticon]

SnowySunshine · 24/12/2008 00:50

To any of you ladies who could do with cutting your toenails, I would strongly advise that you do it now, because I think I've just managed to do it for the last time for a few months. It nearly killed me. I was not anticipating such a struggle

Very pleased to see LuLu & WhatFreshMistletoe back! Was beginning to get rather concerned, so lovely to know that everything's okay

baublerella, I have a feeling that a flat in Westminster may be slightly out of our price range, but I'll be sure to have a good nag at DP, just in case

My bump's rather quiet at the moment too, but definitely still moving. My dad says that he's on the Christmas wind-down, lolling around in front of repeats of various Only Fools & Horses & eating lots of Celebrations.

I'm at home in Birmingham at the moment & really enjoying myself - going back to Sheffield tomorrow. Everyone's been getting on really well & I've laughed until I've cried a few times, which I haven't done for a while. But I was having a quiet chat with my dad earlier & cried a little bit about how hard life is at the moment. He was lovely about it & said that whatever happens things will be okay because they have to be. & even though he's a couple of hours away in the car ('less than that if it's really important'), he'll come & pick me up at any time of the day or night if I need him to. I love my family so much. I wish I didn't have to go home, to be honest (I may cry again in a minute, so I'm going to move on!)

I love the idea of specific festive mechanics, designed to cheer us up with their sexiness & manly skills It's almost worth me learning to drive

I should be off now. It's getting really late & I'm only up because DP & my sister were playing on the Xbox, beating the hell out of each other in a boxing ring. As you do. They've finished now, which means that I can finally slope off to bed without being woken as soon as I manage to get to sleep. I'm not sure that I'll be back tomorrow, so I'll say Merry Christmas to you all! I hope that Santa brings you everything you wished for. & perhaps some extra eye candy for good measure

(Oh, just remembered - the whole BagWag / Stupid thing made me giggle! I love you ladies )

Have fun & try to avoid any turkey / Christmas light related disasters. I'd hate to see you end up on one of those awful Christmas 'safety in the home' programmes they put on every couple of years xx

SnowySunshine · 24/12/2008 00:50

Nutty, go to bed xx

SantasNuttySTaff · 24/12/2008 01:01

Snowy you can get to your toenails?!?! Go you!!!

Glad you are having a lovely time with your parents & getting some reassurance that they are there for you fwiw DH is STILL on the damn xbox shooting zombies lol (dd and i are going to commandeer it to play lips tomoz/Christmas day methinks)

Merry Christmas sweety!!! hope you manage to get some sleep and that santa brings you everything you want and need. xxx

purplemonkeydishwasher · 24/12/2008 09:34

hi everyone! merry christmas eve!
havent' been around much lately. hope you are all keeping well.
had another scan yesterday to see the bits they couldn't see last time. all is well. the 'hotdog' is still breech though. so i've started praying already that s/he will move. def def wouldn't be able to have a vaginal birth then.

so some other excitement in our life: got clipped by a car yesterday in front of my own fukciing home.
DH was getting sleeping DS out of the back, there was a car coming down the road so i positioned myself in front of the car door so he wouldnt hit it and the bastard hit me AND and door! just clipped witht he mirror. not hurt at all but DH and his bro went MENTAL. the guy denied it but i guess thought that Dh would beat the shit out of him so he called the police and admitted it. so they came round took a statement and everything. the guy was 70 and on oxygen and they DIDN't do a breathalyzer because of that. looking back i am very very mad about that.
the guy said I jumped in front of his car (and i guess dragged my car with me )
the police said it probably won't be written up but lectured DH and BIL about yelling at the old guy! .
the old man didn't even ask if i was ok.

anyway went to the GP last night and BP is ok and baby is moving normally.

it shook me though. thank god DS slept through it all.
stupid fucking man. shouldn't be driving.

anyway...hope you all have a very merry christmas!

VirginBoffinMum · 24/12/2008 10:04

Hello everyone.

FreshMistletoe, I cannot believe what happened to your new hoover. I would have demanded a replacement in a very stroppy manner. This is Miele we are talking about - supposed to be the Rolls Royce of hoovers!! Vorsprung vor Technic!! (Or is that Audi??)

Lots of news my end. DS2 has been ill with the Nasty Virus for days now, but is rallying enough to go to the pantomime today. They have given us a box at the theatre out of pity for my SPD!! I am so excited because this is so posh. Plus over excited children high on sugar will not be able to trample me!! Oh no they won't!!

Another big event - I am booking in with an independent midwife because my (normally brilliant) community one just isn't ever available any more, because she has too many patients, and I have totally lost confidence in the system. I went into temporary and very premature labour for about an hour the other night and I just didn't know where to turn for advice, short of trekking over to the hospital at 3am, which would not have been sensible (luckily labour stopped - apparently it was my advanced age and a irritable uterus, nothing to worry about). BUPA, which we get through DH's work, have even agreed to pay for the midwife, as surprisingly they seem to be very pro-home birth (probably because it's cheaper).

Since I decided to do this I feel a lot happier about the birth, and I realise how anxious I had been feeling, on top of the SPD. Things seem to be very difficult NHS wise around here at the moment and I think that's what's making me so nervous. My independent midwives were saying that sometimes when they have to transfer a woman into hospital they get there and are asked to go on duty as NHS midwives as there is absolutely nobody to attend to their client otherwise. This is AWFUL!! Then they get paid for the shift but have to immediately reimburse the Trust because the woman has already paid them privately. There's something very dodgy about that in my view. If they are doing an NHS shift in an NHS hospital the woman/insurance people should not have to pay privately IMO.

I am still in (pleasant) shock that BUPA are paying, which I regard as something of a lucky fluke, and it is a great relief because we have no savings any more and I doubt you can get bank loans for things like this (or for anything these days, for that matter).

Anyway ladies, best get ready to take the kids to the panto now. TTFN.

VirginBoffinMum · 24/12/2008 10:08

BTW purplemonkey that man sounds awful and I am so shocked he can hit a pregnant woman and apparently get away with it. What is the world coming to?

hopeful1 · 24/12/2008 12:06

Baublerella - Thanks for your message. I still cant believe you are having three babies, i am so sorry but after my sister had twins 18 months ago i just think how amazing it will be. It does help i guess to know the sex but because we had a rocky start i cant face it. My husband found out because he cant have children and we needed to use a sperm donor so he thought it would help him bond more though he has been amazing considering. Moving to NZ sounds lovely and a very good idea, went there a couple of years ago and it was beautiful!! I like the other ladies love the sound of a flat in westminster but we have just moved in to a four bedroom house and its amazing ow quickly you accumilate stuff when you have more room.

Snowy - the best thing i have found to get ababy moving is to sit still and drink a glass or two of really cold water, seems to have worked a treat for me this week and saved me a panicked visit to the docs. I cut my toenails this week and like you i think that was the last time as it was a bit of a strggle. DH shaved my legs for me and painted my toenails which was lovely, he is actually really good at it or a man!!

PMD - I had a scan last week and bean was breach, the registrar said that 50% are breach at this stage and only 4% dont turn so the odds are good.

I am still at work but we are hoping to finish at 1pm today and then I have 18 days off...cant wait!!

Anyway, happy christmas and new year to you all, also wish i could have a drink but may have a little tipple to keep up with the festivities seeing as i haven,t had anything so far x x

hopeful1 · 24/12/2008 12:10

sorry about my bad spelling and grammer....doing this at work and is a bit sneaky!!

SantasNuttySTaff · 24/12/2008 19:53

PurpleMonkey - how awful!!! and at police and old man!!! glad you're ok

Boffin - Hope you & your family have a fab time tonight! Glad you are with bupa, hopefully you will get the care and attention that you need now.

Well am off now so A VERY VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!!!!! See you all after the big man has been and seen to my stockings lol

babypringle · 24/12/2008 19:58
