hello - dh and i just got back from a mid-night visit to the hospital. i just couldn't feel anything for a while, and got a bit twitchy/upset. so we went in - got monitored for an hour and then the little sod started moving around fine. i didn't realise they wanted us to be monitored for an hour - i presumed it was a case of - there's the doppler - it's alive - fine.

re: baby's heartbeat - it was going from 120-160 - really changed pace a lot, and apparently that is a really good sign - it shows the baby's doing fine.

dh and i now v v v tired, sitting drinking hot chocolate, watching some cricket from australia on sky. also, crossed fingers, we tried to leave without PIL knowing - although we left a note saying "not to worry" and where we'd gone. we envisaged MIL waking up and completely freaking out (as you would), but luckily i think we've got away with it. don't think they heard us either leave or return. hurrah.

so anyone going for a lotus???

chutneymary · 30/11/2008 07:12

Morning

Been up since 5. Feeling very tearful and emotional already. Not looking forward to tomorrow. Am sure it will be fine but just a bit panicky.

WG, that sounds very frightening but I am glad the baby is fine. They always seem to wake up once you have made the trek to hospital. Your MIL;s comments the other day were priceless by the way.

Congratulations to theyoungvisiter - well done for your home birth.

Am off for a bath. Back later. Hope everyone is OK.

EffiePerine · 30/11/2008 07:24

Congratulations TYV So pleased you got the HB you wanted.

EffiePerine · 30/11/2008 07:27

sorry you're feeling shaky CM (excuse typing, DS on knee). M ust be weird knowing when your baby is going to arrive. When are you booked in for tomorrow?

kayzisexpecting · 30/11/2008 07:59

Morning,

Congratulations TYV The HB sounds great. Looking forward to hearing the name you choose.

WG I'm glad everything is ok. Must have been really scary though.

Chutney I hope you feel better after a bath, I agree it must be strange to know exactly when your baby will be born.

My walking yesterday hasn't done anything. He doesn't feel any more engaged so I don't think the gravity worked.

Morning! Congratulations TYV!!!!!

Chutney - I think you're bound to feel odd today...life is about to change for ever...and you will be FINE!!!! Just think about your precious one that you'll soon be cuddling! Will really be thinking of you. Hope you can get some rest and indulge yourself today.

Feeling rather snotty today but seeing as dd has had a cold for weeks I think I've escaped lightly so far...will no doubt get the full blown (excuse the pun!) version now d-day is drawing near! 13 days till due date...6 days till stretch and sweep! eeeew! Trying not to think about that!

I think the lotus thing sounds grim - think I'll be giving that one a miss!

katie3677 · 30/11/2008 08:42

Congratulations TYV. Chutney, I know how you are feeling (my section is on Wednesday) and I am having sudden panics about life changing forever, not being ready for this baby and not having enough time for baby, DS and DH. I think it's only natural, and it is wierd knowing the day your baby will be born. Just think though, we don'thave to go through any more uncertainty, worry about labour hurting etc (sorry to the others!). All will be fine and looking forward to hearing your announcement soon.

Verso · 30/11/2008 09:48

chutney and katie (apols re typing - bf DD2 on knee!) BIG HUGS. What you are feeling is totally normal. I will be thinking of you both - knowing when your baby will be born really heightens the anxiety I think. I hope you both have good experiences and can't wait for the announcements!

Hope we can arrange a meet up at some point btw. I can't drive for five more weeks but would be nice to have in the diary!

Head a crazy night last night. DD2 cluster feeding... aaargh. Bit tired today!!

morning all, DH has gone down to London to sort out the new tenants with keys & contracts etc. DS has a streaming cold poor little man so we are camped out in front of cbeebies before embarking on Cars & Madagascar. then i think i will be time for mummies shows.

Chutney & Katie thinking of you, it must be quite scary, i have to say i would be freaking out, i think all you CS ladies are quite brave. i have a very big and irrational fear of surgery, in particular because i am scared of aneasthetics. i had a breast abcess after having DS that had to be incised under a GA but i kicked up fuss ad made them do it under a local.

verso how come you can't drive? well done for breast feeding by the way. is she having a growth spurt hence cluster feeding. how are you finding it with your recovery & you DD1, have you got the nanny/maternity nurse sorted?

bugger that stupid women on come outside has lost her dog and DS is crying gotta go.

kayzisexpecting · 30/11/2008 10:39

I've just found my cross stitch stuff. So I think I am going to find something to make to keep me busy while waiting.

Verso I'm glad everything is going well for you. What does DD1 think of her new sister?

DH dreamt last night that I gave birth on the driveway!! Horrible man, I better not give birth on the driveway infront of my neighbours. I'd never leave the house again.

Verso she is lovely - thanks for the photo. Sorry you had drama with the Spinal and IV - you had a spinal - not an epidural right? I thought the spinal was suppose to be nice compared to the epidural? did you have a newish doc doing it? What happened if you don't mind posting? I heard the IV in hand can be horrible...

Hi to everyone - I've been reading but not posting much - mainly due to being grumpy and feeling not very social... not long to go now - just a week on Wed!
I think we are all feeling similar with it all getting so close (from what i've read!) Congrats on the great Home birth - and i'm just amazed - how brave - i could think of nothing worse.... but then i'm an elective sectioner - (the frowned on one by the Midwifes) can you tell i'm still grumpy?!

Veggiemummy · 30/11/2008 11:06

have you been tutted by the Midwives KMP, i have to say i can't think of anything worse than a CS but i haven't had the experiences of you ladies, esp Verso so very lucky in that way. also hate being a patient and love my own bed so best for me to be at home.

the dog was found by the way. DS happy now.

kmp1 · 30/11/2008 11:11

yeah V - on more than one occasion too - even by my own SIL who is a M/W! The kicker was my last hosp visit for routine appt and I overheard the recept staff and a M/W making a comment about my 'reason' for elect C/S and implying there wasn't one! I nearly exploded but then decided to shut my mouth...

Veggiemummy · 30/11/2008 11:13

you should have exploded at them, teach them a lesson and what business is it of the receptionists anyway.

kmp1 · 30/11/2008 11:17

yeah exactly.... I don't know why i didn't (very out of character for me) - i was waiting long enough and didn't want to extend the visit!

Veggiemummy · 30/11/2008 11:26

KMP i had a MW have a go at me on the phone because i got grumpy at her for taking away my chances of having a homebirth, so can't really win with them. Thats why i have a private one, if you pay them they can't tut, well thats not the only reason.

kayzisexpecting · 30/11/2008 11:28

I would have exploded KMP. I am with Veggie, the thought of a CS doesn't appeal to me. Mainly because I am scared of needles so would really freak out. But I know that women like you don't take them lightly.

Just got the e-mail from MrLal Congratulations on your little girl!!!! Can't wait to hear what name you pick!!

These announcements and e-mails make me so excited!!!

Veggiemummy · 30/11/2008 11:31

just got a call from DH he was going to get me some Arnica & seaweed bath stuff from neals yard store at Canary wharf but of course it was closed. bum. I think it will be open on his way back but he is going to be rushing to get back to St Pancras for his train home, so prob won't have time, he may have time to go o the St Pancras shop though so fingers crossed. If anyone is near Canary wharf and wants some neal yard stuff they have recently opened a little shop in Jubilee place and are doing 20% off to celebrate the opening. not sure how long it will be 20% off for.

hattyyellow · 30/11/2008 11:31

Youngvisiter congratulations!!!!!!! I'm so pleased for you - your home birth sounds lovely. Look fwd to hearing names.

Effie thanks so much for adding me to the e-mail list. LadyT and Verso what gorgeous photos of your little ones. Huge congratulations again.

Chutney big hugs to you - were your last c/s emergency or elective? I found it all very very wierd the day before my section with my girls, couldn't quite settle to anything - lots of mixed confused emotions and feelings. What time are you booked infor tomorrow?

waitinggirl hope you're okay and glad the baby has settled down.

I am soooooo tired. Dh has taken DD's out for coffee and I am slumped on the sofa trying to get up the energy to pick up the newspapers!!

Am so emotional as well..has anyone seen the mastercard advert where people are waiting at an airport for relatives to come home at Christmas and having huge cuddles? I cried at that this morning.

Veggiemummy · 30/11/2008 11:35

hooray for Lal, well done. another baby girl yay!!!

Veggiemummy · 30/11/2008 11:40

oh that one was on last year too and i cried then when & i wasn't even pregnant, will be a mess this time.

when i met DH at the airport when he came back from that trip to australia in october there was a guy who was in his 20's who came out of the arrivals door thing and went straight over t his mum and they just held each other for about 5mins sobbing, well all of us other waiters around them were all in tears. it was so beautiful, it's making me teary now.

kayzisexpecting · 30/11/2008 11:40

Is it true that drinking 5 cups of raspberry leaf tea in one day bring on labour?

I don't think I like it enough to drink that much of it one day. I struggle to drink one cup.

OP posts:
Veggiemummy · 30/11/2008 11:44

i'm not sure i drank it at end of the last prenancy but have forgotten about it this time. i think it is just supposed to tone up your uterus wall or something.

kayzisexpecting · 30/11/2008 11:47

There are all these things that people say bring on labour quickly and they never work for me.
Sex - hasn't worked
Clary Sage in the bath - hasn't worked
Long walk followed by curry - hasn't worked.

I think they are made up just to wind us up.
