notsoslimnow · 14/08/2008 12:19

Digital hope acupuncture goes well - would be interested to hear about it - I've now been referred to physio for SPD. It's not too bad but I want to understand it better and find out what movements to avoid. Lying on sofa works for me at the moment Although you're not going for acu for a few weeks yet I think?

Wishing I had the benefit of having gone through labour once already like some of you! I'm not too nervous, but slightly concerned that if there are complications the staff will take over and I won't be listened to... hmm guess I should make sure I give plenty of thought to birth plan, but tricky when you don't know what to expect! NCT classes tomorrow and Sat so that should help.

hi starlight, know what you mean about the waterbirth.i had visions of it being so calm and peacefull.when you watch these vidoes etc it just seems like still really painfull just under water! it didnt help though when dh said to midwife '' oh well, this all looks fairly straight forward to me, it cant hurt that much, why is the lady screaming?'' !!! on a serious note though are you having a waterbirth,if so have you thought about pain relief? ive been told its just gas and air and paracetamol

mellabella · 14/08/2008 12:53

bogie- I'm in Beeston but head into the city centre quite often. Where are you located?

biglips · 14/08/2008 12:54

notsoslimnow - .....good idea about the boots points card for that ice cream shop, ill be living in there!

mellabella · 14/08/2008 12:56

mumiyumi-I had the same problem and was going absolutely mad. Try taking small baths with soda of bicarbonate, it helps a lot with the symptoms. This sounds ridiculous... but use a hair dryer to dry off once you're out of the bath. It's not a solution to the cream but it helped me with the symptoms while I was getting over the infection.

mellabella · 14/08/2008 13:00

haha oops! it's bicarbonate of soda... I'm just used to calling it baking soda.

biglips · 14/08/2008 13:02

i think ive got abit of thrush too...will try the bicarb of soda in the bath. (my bath is too small now! shall i put it in a swimming pool!!)

tmrw ill be seeing the consultant. Do i mention about the ligament pains that i get from my pubic bone wall area up to the side of my belly button belly? as i woke up wanting to go to the loo last night and couldnt move as it was so painful so i had to rub my belly for a bit (and nearly wet myself!!) before i could stood up. My pubic bone wall to touch is fine.

Hello everyone! Been in bed dying of some unpleasant fluey thing for what feels like ages (probably about 3 days actually...)

Got MW this afternoon, apparently we're going to discuss my birthplan, but pleasingly most of the things I want (active birth, minimal vaginal examinations etc) are published on my maternity notes as being the hospital's policy, so that should help.

I haven't had to suffer thrush (have only had it once in my life and thought I was going to die) but have had minor discomfort every time I pee - going to mention it to midwife, but I assume it's mild cystitis or something? Probably something glamorous like that.

Ooh, in other news, found out the other day that DP's sister is pregnant! I'm so excited for her. very early days, but seems to be going well... They were planning on trying for another in a few months, and she came off the pill in preparation (thinking it would take ages), and it happened literally the one and only time they went anywhere near each other, a couple of days after her last period...

mumiyumi when I had my test for the strep B infection a few weeks ago, the results showed up there were plenty of the Candida thingy bugs too which cause thrush - I've never had it over here before (only ever used Canestan in UK) but the obst. sent me a prescription with the results for a pessary, which seemed to work almost instantly! (although tbh it wasn't too bad in the 1st place...)
Can't wait for news from Sassafrass too!
Finally feel as if I'm getting a teeny bit more organised now too - keep thinking, ok if LO arrived right now, how much of stuff would still need sorting out!

bogie · 14/08/2008 13:57

mellabella Im in Netherfield but also go into the city or West Bridgford alot we will have to have a mini meet up

kiskidee · 14/08/2008 14:10

i want someone near me. why is it that there never seems to be anyone near me? harrumph.

mellabella · 14/08/2008 14:10

ooh that would be fun! we should plan something

potxola · 14/08/2008 14:49

I wish I could have met you in London. I am too far I am afraid and none of you lives in the West Country.

Thinking of Sassa too.

bogie · 14/08/2008 14:50

Great when would be good for you?

DebitheScot · 14/08/2008 15:17

mustsleep thanks for the reminder about midwife appointments. I had forgotten to phone to get one for next week (I am 37 weeks and only being seen fortnightly too, same as last time I think) so I've just phoned and they don't have any! Midwife is apparently going to phone me back but we'll see.

hopefully · 14/08/2008 15:30

Starlight that's a good point - I am going to still put everything in the birth plan, as I definitely don't want to risk things not going as planned simply because I didn't put it in writing!

OMG, I am on hold to Two Left Feet (you may have come across them before on MN), who may well be the worst internet company I have ever ever come across. I cannot believe the appalling service I have received. Basically, MIL ordered £1,200 worth of stuff from there (£400 of our money, rest a present from her, hence her choice of where to order, despite us saying we'd heard this place was crap) back in May, and it still hasn't been delivered. Phoned on Tuesday and raised merry hell, was promised immediate dispatch, nothing has been sent (they said they'd email on dispatch), so now I am trying to contact them. ARGHHHHHHH! Is order for pram and cot, so only the most important things we need...
