Well that was cutting it a bit fine...

OP posts:

The meet up today was really good. Thanks to eandz for organising it. Was good to put faces to names and the pizza was nice too! Oh and the chocolate ice-cream, ds loved that!
DS was shattered when we got home (had 30 mins sleep in buggy but not enough really) so we cuddled up on sofa together and watched some of Cars on dvd (the Disney film). After sitting there for about 45 mins I could hardly get up and then couldn't move! And then he made me play golf in the living room after dinner, not good!

Got some friends coming round tomorrow morning, I decided it was easier now to invite people here rather than trailing out to other peoples houses or meeting in town but then when I saw the state of the bathroom I regretted that! Managed to loosen up my muscles enough to clean it though once ds had gone to bed so now it's sparkly. I think the best birth present anyone could get me would be a cleaner!

Wonder how sass is getting on...

DebitheScot · 13/08/2008 21:07

meglet- me and lollyheart were saying today that we should meet up after our babies are here as we live so close to each other, you'd be welcome to join us too.

meglet · 13/08/2008 21:09

I was wondering about the meet up today deb, pizza and ice cream sounds yummy. I had an exciting day going to the tip and the supermarket . Weather was awful here.

meglet · 13/08/2008 21:11

good idea , I haven't been organised enough to fb lolly yet, she can't be far from me.

Pidge · 13/08/2008 21:28

mustsleep - after my dd2 was born at home our GP was scheduled for an appointment and came to our house to check her out. That was the equivalent of the hospital doctor check you describe. I think it happened in the first 2-3 days, but frankly it's all a bit of a blur now! Our GP doesn't normally do home visits, as far as I'm aware, but this is different and it was all arranged for me by the midwives as I recall. Very civilised.

No raspberry leaf tea for me either - I think it's supposed to make labour easier (if more powerful contractions are easier!!), rather than earlier. But I'm taking no chances, since the house is a building site I don't want anything that might encourage the baby to appear early. The builders are going to get an ultimatum that I need SOMEWHERE to give birth by mid September just in case!

I had a lovely bike ride home - powered by the wind behind me. But I did see a car with a large tree on top of it and the whole area cordoned off with police and fire engines etc, which was sobering.

lollyheart · 13/08/2008 21:31

Yep the meet up was good just a shame i didnt get to talk to everyone.

Debi my dd has not stopped talking about your ds since we have got home she has asked me when are we going to london again to see him bless her.

Meglet i live near tescos.

It would be good to meet up when the babies are hear or even before if we get a chance before we drop.

Pidge · 13/08/2008 21:33

Oh my goodness, I've just realised that the crushed car I saw on my way home involved a fatality . I just saw the London news.

eandz · 13/08/2008 22:03

yeah it was a shame i couldn't talk to everyone either!

i really missed out when i didn't get a chance much to talk to lollipopmother and splishsplosh.
am envious to those who did get to talk to everyone.

it was really nice meeting everyone !

kiskidee · 13/08/2008 22:07

so we are still waiting for news from Sass.

I only have indigestion and the flu to tell you about, i'm afraid.

oh. have been a rebel [lol] and cancelled my appt with my consultant yesterday. I don't think he had much to offer me and going to the hospital and waiting around for god knows how long just to have my bp and wee tested is a waste of time.

when i cough or sneeze, I wee

can i say, none of my BH have been painful. just know because I sometimes feel my belly tighten and I sometimes feel like I need a poo.

normally I don't talk to friends about these things.

jennylindinha · 13/08/2008 22:24

Evening all.

eandz and the London meet-up gang - I'm so sorry I couldn't make it today. I called the restaurant and asked them to let you know so I hope they passed the message on! Gutted not to make it and had a shitty day at work instead plus many annoying people bothering me over trivial things and getting on my nerves ... Just feel so exhausted at the moment and was on the point of walking out today and never going back!!! I hope there will be the chance for another meet-up before or after babies are born.

Starlight, I've had a stinking cold since Friday and feel lousy too. Grrr. It doesn't help that the symptons usually get worse when I go to bed and then I can't sleep. Must stop moaning - guess I'm just having a bad day.

Woo - excited about Sass though

eandz · 13/08/2008 22:34

jennylindinha,
don't worry!!
if you want to meet up with me and little connie on sunday (11 am) at patisserie valerie in marylebone your more than welcome.

eandz · 13/08/2008 22:39

btw, no one needs to be thanking me .
thanks everyone for coming!

i'm sorry i was late. the cab driver decided to take me through a road that was closed, and then decided to drop me off on the wrong side of the street (near number 97 and the restaurant was number 450)! and then when i told him he was wrong he wanted to know who knew london better, me or him. so instead of arguing i just walked there.

thanks for not being mad.

all of you were really lovely, i can't wait to see all of you again!

splishsplosh · 13/08/2008 23:25

It was lovely to meet up today even though didn't get to talk at all to some people, not helped by dd's mood - usually she's much happier! Got her home without a nap so she was out like a light at 7, and I fell asleep not long after til 10... I need a daytime nap more than her these days

Guess as no news from Sass that it must be the real thing - hope everything goes well

Pidge - know what you mean about the house - our re-wiring is still going on til at least the middle of next week, with floorboards up everywhere, most of stuff in storage (including all baby clothes) and rest of things jammed togather in a couple of rooms - I'm sleeping on a blow up bed in the hall at the moment! The kitchen is being delivered this week so that's going to be sitting somewhere til we have it fitted, and there's loads more work to be done - just hope baby stays for as long as possible and doesn't put in an early appearance like dd - with her my waters broke 2 weeks from where I am now... I'm not ready yet! Haven't done any hospital bag shopping at all....

Pidge · 14/08/2008 08:50

splishsplosh - you have my sympathy! We're in chaos frankly. Our bedroom is crammed with 14 huge boxes of kitchen stuff. Living room is half full of new Ikea flat-pack kitchen, and the other half has the fridge, washing machine, dishwasher, dining table in it, with barely room to squeeze past. And the kitchen itself is a shell with the far wall totally knocked down and open to the garden, which is covered in rubble, cement mixer etc! And this baby is supposed to be being born somewhere at home.

Also this weekend we have my dd1's birthday party, which we organised when we thought the kitchen work would be finished by now! Thank heavens most of her friends are on holiday so it's going to be small scale.

Cycled again this morning, and I'm really enjoying pedalling in the morning, it's easier than walking in some ways. I came past the spot where the guy was killed by the falling tree yesterday. Unbelievable really.

biglips · 14/08/2008 09:09

pidge - how do u do it cycle on your bike?? i wouldnt be able to get my leg over!! even walking is just about enough for me

mamamufin · 14/08/2008 09:35

Morning all
Sounds like you all had fun at the London meet up yesterday . My Dh is there on business for a few days and I was tempted to go with him to meet you guys. However, I decided it was a bit to far to travel . My folks have ds until next tues or wed, so dh and I are going to go away for a long weekend. Not sure where, but dont want to be more than an hours drive away. I am thinking a nice spar hotel . It will be our last break away together childfree for at least a year as it was that long before I could leave ds with my folks.
Yes I am in impressed with your cycling skills too pidge. I have no balance and feel like a weeble wobble!
Thinking of you guys with all the major home improvements going on, it will be worth it.
Oh Sasss....no news. Its going to be a long wait this month waiting for news of all the arrivals. I promise to get someone to post on our thread as soon as I have news on my arrival.
Take care x

mamamufin · 14/08/2008 09:42

Oh Arhghh,
I ve just seen the due Aug 08 thread has 21 babies. Just think that this time next month we could have as many . Its getting so real now guy, deep breath in guys. PANIKING NOW, HOW ON EARTH AM I GOING TO GET IT OUT?

Pidge · 14/08/2008 09:47

biglips & mamamufin - honestly in some ways it's easier than walking. At least you're sitting down on a bike, whereas when I'm walking I sometimes get really uncomfortable with the baby weighing really heavily. Admittedly I'm not that graceful getting on the bike! And I'm not cycling every day - this week I've managed 2 days. And I think next week might be my last week on the bike.

Weekend away sounds fabulous. We have another holiday lined up in a week's time. We're going to be with my parents in Wales, heavenly! And dp and I are getting a night away (as an early birthday present!).

MummyToOneForNow · 14/08/2008 09:52

I really enjoyed the London meet-up and was great to put some faces to names - dd particularly enjoyed the icecrean (and bonus strawberries from eandz and nelly - thanks!) Having looked as though she was falling asleep at the table she perked up when I got her in the pushchair to go back to the station and ended up not having her nap so she was really grouchy when we got home poor thing.

Like Debi I think I will be encouraging people to come round to my place from now on - was exhausted by the time I got home (20 min walk uphill from the station is a bit much now).

Fingers crossed for Sass - hope its all going ok.

mellabella · 14/08/2008 10:01

You are all so lucky to have met up! I would have loved to get to meet new people here. Unfortunately Notts is 2 hours by train and about a million pounds to take to London Glad to hear that everyone had a great time!!

mustsleep · 14/08/2008 11:25

mumiyumi · 14/08/2008 11:41

I wonder how sass is getting on...really want to know if her lo has arrived....It's creeping up really fast now! can't wait to see what my lo is
mustsleep my mw appoint are fortnightly now, looked at my diary from when ds was born and i was being seen weekly with a home visit also....my midwife now seems to only want to see you at clinic!

mumiyumi · 14/08/2008 11:45

I've also been suffering from Thrush and can't put the cream in properly (can't reach!) so told her last wk and she said to book in for this wk and she'd do it for me....couldn't wait any longer as really uncomfortable by mon i had to get dh to help me! I thought she'd have offered to pop in on her way home after my appointment as she only lives down the road....anyone else suffering with thrush...it's starting to drive me insane!!
