FOR JEARUND I just loved your post. Packed with information and advice. Thanks.
Here is my birth plan for an elective C-Section. (I have not paid the £5.00 to be able to receive and send messages in mumsnet either)

FIRST OF ALL, VERY MANY THANKS TO ALL THE TEAM INVOLVED IN MY C-SECTION.

I WOULD BE REALLY GRATEFUL IF I COULD HAVE SKIN TO SKIN CONTACT WITH LOREA, OUR BABY GIRL, AND THE CHANCE TO BREAST FEED HER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

ANESTHESIA

ï‚· I would like to remain awake during the procedure. Any pain medications should be compatible with BREASTFEEDING please.
ï‚· I would like to have the catheter inserted after the epidural has taken effect.

SURGERY

ï‚· I would like ___ (husband) with me throughout the entire procedure.
ï‚· We would be very grateful if there are no students present.
ï‚· We would appreciate being kept informed during the surgery.
ï‚· I would like to ask for QUIET at the moment of birth. No music please.
ï‚· I would like to have the screen slightly lowered at the point of delivery, if possible, so I can see my baby being lifted out.
ï‚· Please show us our baby girl briefly before taking her to be cleaned.
ï‚· Please delay any non-urgent procedures, like applying gel to the baby?s eyes, till after we have had some bonding time with the baby.
ï‚· My husband would like to complete the cutting of the umbilical cord once baby has been moved to the table.
ï‚· Please wrap the baby in the blanket I provide you with.
ï‚· I would like to have my baby placed onto my chest to give her skin to skin contact as soon as possible.
ï‚· Assuming our baby is healthy and well, please allow me to hold the baby while the operation is finished.
ï‚· I would like to be able to breastfeed as soon as possible and would appreciate any assistance/advice.

POST PARTUM AND BABY CARE

ï‚· I would like my husband to stay with the baby at all times if I can?t be there.
ï‚· Breast feeding only ? Please do not feed our baby by other means without discussing this with either my husband or myself.
ï‚· Please do not offer a pacifier.
ï‚· No visitors to be allowed before my return from recovery.

Sassafrass · 12/08/2008 22:30

Could just be me getting overexcited then

potxola · 12/08/2008 22:38

You are entitled to be excited. Enjoy it. My dh would panic if it happens to me this early.
Going to bed now. Good night!

eandz · 12/08/2008 23:21

alaro, mummytoonefornow, notcitrus,

I was wondering if you guys will still be able to make it tomorrow? i still have your spaces, but i was making name tags and don't have your real names (but thats ok, you can just tell us tomorrow if you decide to come) i'm just wondering if you guys are or not.

eandz · 12/08/2008 23:21

oh and same message to splishsplosh

Sassafrass · 13/08/2008 04:32

4.30 in the morning, I'm sure you're all asleep.... Now have brownish discharge, so pretty sure it's a show and very bad period pains that come and go with about 3-5 minutes in between, so this could be it. Going to give it a bit more time before calling the labour ward. It might just die out on it's own after all.

eandz · 13/08/2008 06:20

ooh sassafrass! i'm kinda excited for you. how far along are you again? (i'll look it up after i finish posting this).

lollipopmother · 13/08/2008 07:54

The list says that Sass is booked in for a section on 19th Aug, hope that everything is ok.

biglips · 13/08/2008 08:31

oooh soo exciting sassafrass cant wait to read your post soon announcing a new baby.

mustsleep · 13/08/2008 10:50

can someone tell me what the raspberry tea does i can;t remember i thought it was supposed to bring on labour

would love to get a move on with things am getting so fed up now

have just found out that on the 25th august dh will be starting nights working from 6pm till 6am!! i am fuming surely this can;t be fair!! plus he is now on about as we need the cash that he might not have a week off when i have the baby as he will be on nights so at home during the day and the night pay is better than day pay and he doesn't want to miss it!!

it's ok when i am insane from sleep exhaustion and then having to look after the brats all day too that's just fine

and of course they'll be no weekends to catch up on the sleep as he will be working oin sat days and then on sunday it is football for ds at the crack of dawn and dh coaches so he can;t take the other kids sorry for the moan but i am sooooo

potxola · 13/08/2008 12:42

Sassafrass I sending you good vibes.

mustsleep That is bad news. In the old days mothers had the help of a big family or the community around them, now we are expected to do everything and keep on paying the rent, morgages..... I can imagine your dh is also upset because he won't be able to bond much with the baby or take over from you helping out.

I have just come back from the hospital, I had an extra scan because I had a previous large baby.
(I am 35.5 weeks) Everything is fine and it looks as if my baby girl will also be a big baby. Her estimated weight now is 2.935kg She will be born in 2 weeks by C-section and she will be around 3.5 kg. I am pleased.

digitalgirl · 13/08/2008 13:19

ooo sassafrass!!!! am assuming that the lack of posting means you're actually in labour!! wow, another early arrival. this is soo exciting. fingers crossed it's all going well for you.

sunshine I think you've absolutely made the right decision about your dad. wishing you all the strength to stand firm. now, if you've got high BP does that mean they'll induce earlier than planned? I can't remember if you were having an elective CS...

starlight glad to hear your appt went well.

eandz would have loved to meet for a coffee, especially at Pat Val's as it's one of my favourite places. however, as I'm still working fulltime sunday's is one of the only days when I can either be really lazy or do more baby prep chores. I think this weekend I'll be doing some more last minute shopping down at Brent Cross.

am 34 weeks today! can't believe it's only a matter of weeks till I get to meet my baby

potxola thanks for posting your birth plan, I might copy some of your points in case I end up having an emergency CS.

mustsleep - raspberries leaf tabs doesnt bring on labour but it helps you to cope better in labour...what ever that means!!

gosh im so knackered as went out for 2 hours and an ald granny was walking faster than me! i couldnt walk any faster as ive got a stitch on my right side on the bottom bit and aching between my legs...im gonna give birth to a giant!!

Poxtola - my babys weight is about the same as yours as at 34 weeks it was weighing 2694gms and it was past 90th centile......its all normal for me as ive been there with my DD.

potxola · 13/08/2008 13:28

I forgot!!!!, sorry starlight I am also very pleased you are happy with your birth place now, it is very important to feel confident and safe in your hospital or unit.

Digitalgirl you are welcome. I showed the doctor my birth plan today and it is not too much, it is an "acceptable" plan. So,we can use it.
