Can i join this?

31 days left!

I have to keep my legs closed for another 3 days so i dont get shipped off to a mainland hospital but them i'm getting out the curries, sex everynight ( well we'll see.....), scubbing floors etc etc

This child is very active and huge he cant want to stay in much longer! can he...???

imoscarsmum · 21/08/2008 19:33

LittleConnie I'm 35 w 5d and have been taking 3 tablets of raspberry leaf a day for the past week. Am going to up to 6 a day from next week - started cautiously but had adverse BHs, so gonna go forit.

TMI alert - I wish i had gone off sex but I could do it all day every day at the moment - just can't help it! Sadly, DP does not share my enthusiasm as he's bloody knackered as his business is taking off rapidly! Life is unfair [waddles off for a bath]

imoscarsmum · 21/08/2008 19:34

Sorry that should have been had no adverse BHs!

mamamufin · 21/08/2008 19:36

Hi guys
Ive just had a massive catch up with our thread. I have had my mum down so have been spending time with her.
Gosh we move fast. Now I cant remember what Ive read doh!
Anyway I have the midwife appoint tomorrow. I am around 36 weeks but have been given three dates, 15th Sept from 1st scan, 18 from my lmp & 19th from my secons scan. I am going to ask her what date I should be going off before I add myself to the new list. However, I was 2 weeks overdue last time so dont want to build my hopes up if u know what I mean!
Had lunch with a friend and her 6 week old baby today. My ds (nearly four) announced that he did "not like the baby at all" and would not look, touch, talk or come to think of it aknoledge the baby at all. It was like he is in complete deniel . I am going to have my hands full.
My parents have offered to collect ds and take him back to there house for a few days ( 100 miles plus away), when I go into labour. Is it really bad of me to take them up on this offer. I dont want to be worried about him during labour or seeing me tired and emotional, in pain. The following days I Know I am going to be too wiped out to look after him and i wont feel comfortable if my parents are in my house while I am establishing feeding (mum quite anti- breast) and generally getting to know the new arrival. Oh heck, what to do. I have got alot of friends who have offered but ds can be a bad sleeper and I know he is going to be unsettled. However, he spends 4 or 5 days away at my parents house with no probs. Will he feel pushed out though? Dh and I struggled on our own for a few days with a newborn without having the added pressure of a very lively toddler.

jearund · 21/08/2008 19:36

Carrieon I've been seeing a chiropractor every month throughout this pregnancy and it's made a huge difference to me. Last pg I had terrible back pain from about 4 months, this time it's been pain free and only the last couple of days have I started to get twinges. We've had to invent some new positions as I've got better (hope that doesn't sound kinky!) but he's managed to keep my back right. Highly recommended.

mamamufin · 21/08/2008 19:38

Congrats sass how lovely. What sling do you have for Katie?

jearund · 21/08/2008 19:39

hopefully we did perineal massage last time towards the end (no point this time as having a CS). As I never gave birth naturally I don't know if it helped but basically it opened up a lot of opportunities to "encourage" the baby to come out if you catch my drift......

meglet · 21/08/2008 19:44

mamamuffin if your DS is ok with your parents it might be really helpful for them to have him for a few days. My family are local (so my DS probably won't be sleeping over much) but I will be begging people to take him out and amuse him non-stop so I can recover and we can relax with DD in peace. Although I daresay once he is out the way I'll get terribly emotional and miss him!

I'm starting to get bored waiting now. Now I've seen the consultant I just want this baby to appear early. DS was 37 weeks and perfectly fine so I'd guess this one would be too. Mind you the garden still needs a tidy so a weekend of nice weather would mean we get that done in time.

jearund · 21/08/2008 19:49

Potxola yes please to the DVD recommendations! At the moment the only one we have suitable for kids is "Babies Talk Spanish" - I'd love to know what Spaniards use for their kids.....

I'm so pleased Niko enjoyed the nursery. What a relief for you. We think ours is great - she has more fun there than at home with me not able to do that much!

slinkiemalinki · 21/08/2008 20:14

Yes my waters started to go wednesday night and the MWs faffed and muttered about me wetting myself until the consultant agreed to scan me Friday morning, by which time they had completely gone. So I was induced but just needed prostin so something must have been happening. This was at 38+6. DD's birth was otherwise straightforward...
I know someone who had a successful induction recently at 37w (straightforward delivery) but she had been bleeding on and off which caused her doctor concern. It was also her second baby. But I would second the view that you want to avoid it if you can. It is also really bloody painful and I didn't even have the drip. Though I guess childbirth generally can be

slinkiemalinki · 21/08/2008 20:14

Just to clarify this is last time round before anyone thinks that was a rather understated birth announcement

DebitheScot · 21/08/2008 20:51

hello islandlassie, where are you? I'm guessing a Scottish island. I think I have a huge baby coming too and am hoping it'll come sooner rather than later.

biglips · 21/08/2008 21:34

islandlassie - welcome

oh ive got some excellent news........

ive got the baby names books out from the cupboard that i couldnt reach and ive got 3 weeks to go to find a name !!!!!!!!!!!

eandz · 21/08/2008 21:53

hahaha slinkie. i really thought it was a birth announcement for a second.

ok so i went to the hospital today but had high bp and some protein...i have to go back again tomorrow for more testing. the sad thing is the other consultant and another nurse did the bp and urine test so i can't blame my consultant for faulty stuff. argh!

Thanks Mamamufin,

I got a stretchy wrap sling for when Katie is little. It's a gypsymama wrap. It's supersoft and really comfy to wear. Katie sleeps in it very happily and is soothed very quickly when upset if I put her in it.

biglips · 21/08/2008 23:42

tmi alert!.....

is anyones private parts (clitoris) is absolutely bulging?? as the baby is not engaged atm but its breech but i do feel like ive been battered between my legs!

blimey · 22/08/2008 02:39

Yup my girly bits have been very swollen for ages now and my baby is not head down!

I had a quick scan in docs clinic today which shows baby is oblique and apparently that is bad for a section too - hope he is just in the process of going cephalic having been breech.
I have a date for my section -22nd Sept
I guess it is a new day so I will update list.

Nope Biglips, can't say that mine is, thank God! Don't fancy feeling battered before I've even got to the labour suite!

I did my back in again on Tues, I've booked in with a physio at the hospital but the earliest they can fit me in is Wednesday, which makes me feel rather sick! If I go into labour before then I'm never going to get through it

hopefully · 22/08/2008 08:25

Pitufina I sail a bit (fairly badly, but I enjoy it!), but DP's the real enthusiast - I actually met him at Cowes week one year when I'd given up on relationships and was on a mission to have a 1 night stand... Haven't got rid of him yet! Are you a sailor?

I've got raspberry leaf tea rather than capsules (am really not too offended by the flavour, mostly just tastes like I stewed up some random leaves from the garden), so am aiming for up to 4-6 cups a day. not that I've managed that yet.

hopefully · 22/08/2008 08:32

Biglips I have a similar thing - just generally like there's too much blood rushing round my girl bits! Am also terrified of the dreaded piles, as I definitely feel a teensy bit sore round there after bowel movements (apologies for TMI, it's been annoying me for a few days)

Welcome Islandlassie. Are you on a scottish island? My dad lives on one...

Sass glad Katie has settled a bit!

Just adding me, I had been left off!

I have really had enough now, so tempted to beg for induction! I am walking around like an 85 year old woman, pain in my groin, hips, bum, I cant sit, I cant lay!

Oh, the joys!!

Does anyone else have really painful hands too? I don't think its carpal tunnel, as its both hands and they are just really stiff.

Not long now, not long now, not long now...........

notsoslimnow · 22/08/2008 09:17

izzybiz...yep painfull hands, pain in pelvis, cramping legs all night, heavy pressure feeling down low, swollen fingers, swollen feet, stiff everytime i move after sitting for any amount of time, sporadic heartburn......................and it goes on!!!! not sure though if id rather have all these ailments or go into labour !!!

Pitufina · 22/08/2008 09:37

hopefully - Like you, my DH is the expert! He's sailed about half his life. I started when I met him. I do enjoy it a lot, but I'm still learning. Getting there gradually. That's a long 1 night stand!! he he

hopefully · 22/08/2008 09:54

Pitufina I know, he's just not taking the hint to leave... It's not like I even offered him breakfast!

Argh, am on hold to wanky Two Left Feet (the mail order company from hell) to try to sort delivery of pram, which they have been promising me since May. I am getting ready to get furious again. Been on hold for a mere 12 minutes, so expecting many more minutes of holding.
