mamamufin · 18/08/2008 19:18

Right I am buying the dvd tomorrow!

jearund · 18/08/2008 19:21

Womb I haven't got the Vibe but we bought the E3 when DD was born as we were planning two in quick succession. It's great over rough terrain (grass etc) and DH thinks it's lighter than our Quinny Zapp although I'm not sure about that! Our only gripe is that the straps were way too high for DD when she got to the sitting up stage. That was when we got the Qunny! But it's fine now and we will be using it lots come next month......

Potxola I too have had some unpleasant dreams while pregant (in fact I had a bad one last night too involving a really bad row with my dad - far too vivid....). My theory is that it's because we are very vulnerable at the moment. You know your DH wants this baby and he's not going to leave you, but because that is the worst thing you can imagine happening to you, the fear comes out in your dreams. I think this is normal so don't worry about it. It will all be fine. And of course you are worried about the birth. I want to see DS and know that he is healthy. I figure if there were anything wrong they'd have picked it up on a scan but I still want to see for myself. At least with know with the CS that they should be safe enough, all they do is cut a hole and take them out, no long traumatic labour! Lorea estara bien x

Pitufina · 18/08/2008 19:39

nellyonthetelly - We're having trouble choosing names too! Not a problem with girl names but have not got anywhere with choosing boy names. We must have chosen the ideal name for us when our DS was born.
I had funny dreams early on in this pregnancy. I don't think I've had many recently though.

mumiyumi · 18/08/2008 20:27

don't really know what to say as thought i'd read all posts but now i'm at the end i can't remember amything....jelly brain! Sorry can't reply or make a valuable sugestion about anything.... apart from pitufina & Nelly no names here either lots of suggestions and lots of screwed up faces!!! poor baby i hope it just springs into our heads when he/she arrives

goodnight i think i need to sleep x

mumiyumi · 18/08/2008 20:28

Ummm wonder why my bold didn't work properly and gave me stars instead

eandz · 18/08/2008 20:31

i kinda just want to have my baby now.

hopefully · 18/08/2008 20:37

Pitufina we also have a girl's name and no boy name. Every name we contemplate we seem to go off about a week later!

I also find a breastfeeding pillow between the legs keeps me on my side. Although occasionally I wake up on my back with the pillow over my face

Just made amazing roast chicken, am so proud of myself - have never made a roast dinner unassisted before! now have to work out how to make chicken stock from carcass...

MelT76 · 18/08/2008 21:00

I'm not getting any weird dreams, DP has those. The other night he dreamt he lost me in hospital, by the time he found me I had had the baby and misplaced it! He wandered off and bought 3 back, none of which were ours. But not to worry, I found it under my pillow!!

becaroo · 18/08/2008 21:05

Hi all, thanks for the messages.

Well, back from hospital but more confused now than before!!!

Fluid has gone down - AFI now 20 which is great. Also baby is head down - yay! - and 2/5ths engaged.

Baby hasnt stopped growing as ds did at 30-32 weeks but growth has slowed and baby is now measuring just over average rather than top of 75th centile like last scan. Also, BP measurement (biparietal diameter) has gone nearly off the top of the centile chart.

What is BP and should I be worried its gone up so much in such a short time?

Turns out I have got a water infection and she has given me some antibiotics, but seeing as it was a week ago that I was tested I am not very impressed....why didnt someone contact me? The Registrar said "Its no wonder you have been in pain" Great...thanks...would have handy to know last week!

She said she is not worried about the slowing of the babys growth but in the next breath booked me another scan in 2 weeks....really not sure whether today went well or not IYKWIM???

starlight yes, I feared it was the hormomes talking!!! Thanks for being so honest! Will keep the appointment with my midwife and just loathe her secretly

MummyToOneForNow · 18/08/2008 21:10

kiskidee - I also had bad oedema last time round but not this time - I was wondering if it is because looking after a toddler means I am more active and sitting down less?

Like some others we are really struggling with names - we have about a dozen of each written down but none that we love - really want to chosen before it arrives...

mustsleep · 18/08/2008 22:27

hi all we think we have pretty much settled on william as a name which will be shortened to will mainly cos dd struggles with william as she can;t quie get her tongue around the "L"s

Mummyto1 - I think the oedema last time it was being at work and not elevating my feet often enough, ie spend 90% of my time sitting down, feet up, which is what I did this time round as an older and wiser teacher and mum to be.

I find even now that I am not at work I have to get them up or they start to puff.

HWB news: Got a response from the Chief Exec of my Trust saying that they fully support my HB choice. They only want women to be aware that there is just a slight possibility of disappointment if staff is not available at the time, which has never happen before. Oh how I laughed. NO, love, I ain't coming in!

eandz just remembered you said you eagerly await starlight and my birth story. Oh, please don't. Last time everything went tits up and ended up as a patient who happened to be a woman in labour and it was the most awful experience. I still find it difficult to read happy birth stories because mine was so sad.

I have a niggling fear of ?The best laid schemes o? mice an? men / Gang aft a-gley.? and all that with this one.

mamamufin · 19/08/2008 08:14

Morning all

I did not sleep well last night. Just could not get comfy. I miss being able to snuggle into my dh. I need far to many pillows in all angles its quite a sculpture! However, when I move it falls apart and I have to build it again.

potxola · 19/08/2008 09:17

Mamamuffin Good morning. I am laughing because that is what happens to me. Now I have the queen size for myself, dh kept on waking up because I could not keep still.
BUT he is happy sleeping in another room.
It works for us. That is what we did last time, that way later on when she is born I can BF her during the night without waking him up and he can sleep and go to work full of energy.

Jeaund Thanks cielo. You are absolutely right. Everything will be OK. Our babies will be healthy and very very good looking. My ds have just looked at the picture of you dd and he is interested and wants to play with "la nena" the little girl!!!!!!!!1

Do you know something? I have just realised I haven't washed the brand new clothes I have bought, bodysuits and sleepsuits in Boots, Mothercare and Blooming Marvellous. Do the new clothes need to be washed? Have you all done it? I bet you have
I remember other mum critizicing me because I didn't wash my ds brand new slpeepsuits.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

becaroo · 19/08/2008 09:18

Starlight - get some Omeprazole. Its ace. Been on it for 3 months now with no probs.

mustsleep William is lovely.

Got to clean today. House is a slovenly hovel.

melly and bogie Not going to be able to make it tomorrow after all guys, sorry.....toe not getting any better and will have to have it restrapped so it means I cant drive Do let me know when you meet up again and I will endeavour not to break bits of myself so I can come!!!

Have a good day ladies x

jearund · 19/08/2008 09:29

potxola How sweet! I wish they could play together too. In fact I was thinking of you this morning as I was getting DD dressed - I was telling her the names of her clothes in Spanish. I have to confess I haven't washed any of the new stuff I've bought/ been given for Dougie either. I think we are getting lax because it's our second! I washed everything for DD but this time all I have washed is the few newborn white things DD had which were in the attic (and therefore needed washing).

Pidge · 19/08/2008 09:41

We STILL don't remotely have any names sorted out!! Gosh we are disorganised this time.

biglips · 19/08/2008 09:53

we havent even looked in the babys book yet for the names!! . ive got too many things to think of!

i did ordered my Dp to get the books last night but we totally forgotton all about it...maybe tonite will be the night. We didnt find our DD's name till i was literally full term...

Apart from that, everything is ready.

digitalgirl · 19/08/2008 09:54

morning preggars,

Yesterday I found out why I've been itching. Apparently, when the liver is a bit overworked processing all these pregnancy hormones it starts sending toxins to the skin so you can scratch them out. How amazing is that? I always wondered why 'body-brushing' was supposed to detox you and now I know.

Have got an appointment with an Ob today to review my blood test results. Fingers crossed it's all ok and I can go back to being low-risk.

kiskidee Good to hear your letter's made it all the way to the top AND that you got a response. Complaining does work!

ponymum Good you're settling into your new pad. My SPD isn't nearly as bad as yours, but I do hold some hope that my pelvis will just let the baby plop out (as long as a doctor doesn't come along and stick my legs in stirrups).

mamamufin I have the same nest of pillows. I have two sleeping positions: lying on my left side properly involves my dream genie pillow between my legs and a my feet 'shuffled' between two flatish pillows; then lying on my back 'tilted' to the left, where I stick the two flatish pillows between my legs, rest them against my dream genie pillow and then prop up the right side of my back with another pillow. It's a struggle to maneouvre especially with stiff hands (oedema leads to carpal tunnel at night) and a painful pelvis - but it works!!

Some of you mentioned last night how much you loved being pregnant. I had such a wonderful first two trimesters (apart from the early bleed) and we tried for months to get pregnant so I never forget how lucky I am. I don't even mind the physical suffering in this last trimester. It's frustrating, yes, but my body is doing an amazing thing, it's not forever and there will be a baby at the end of it all. I am, however, looking forward to getting my mobility back, taking the baby out for walks and getting lots of fresh air this autumn.

mellabella · 19/08/2008 10:03

oh becaroo so sorry you can't make it tomorrow! Hope that your poor toe feels better!!

MunkiMom · 19/08/2008 10:04

Goood morning, Mums2Bee! ((is that too much excitement for this hour? ))
Righty, just a little note to say hello and wedge my way onto this thread.

I'm carrying ds2, Due Sept 20th. Ds1 (fynn) is also a sept baby (25th, 2006). It's not a coincidence, we pretty much planned to have the 2nd be a sept baby. But really, it just looks like we only have sex in december . heheheh.

But really though, i'm at 35 weeks atm....
STILL no name to be decided on. of course, i'm the only one actively looking. but really, it just means i can choose a list of the names i like and then let DH have a browse as though there are no other names for him to choose from! . i'm just finding the naming process sooo much harder this time around.

Anyways, i've rambled enough! Nice to meet you all, and looking forward to sharing all the woes and excitement!

MunkiMom · 19/08/2008 10:18

Oh, just a couple more basics to cover....
ds1 was c-section/breech so i've had the option on having another Cs or to have trial of labour...
i've opted for trial of labour this time around and to be honest, i'm terrified! it's almost like having the nerves & jitters of first time baby. So i've been asking the midwife about labour in motion or any antenatal classes avail for me. i've just been informed the hospital has cancelled all "extras" for the maternity/labour wards. they aren't even offering tours of the ward!!
((i'm new to the area kinda so i haven't a clue where i'm going))

Needless to say, i've been very disappointed with the attention and care i've received during this pregnancy. no worries. i'll do just fine, i know. ((i hope))

and a little about me:
32, married, from the states but have been living here in the UK for 3 years now. i'm a chef/baker by trade. but since having ds1, i've been a SAHM.

will post a few pics on the profile in a bit.

ok now i've rambled on too long!
take care!!

kiskidee · 19/08/2008 10:37

welcome Munkimum. I am [shocked] and appalled at your hospital! Where are you and which hospital is this?

They cannot stamp on women's choices of labouring based on staffing issues. If you want to take a birthing ball to hospital and sit on it during labour, no one can make you get on a bed and lie down. I wonder how they would do that.

When a woman is respected to listen to her body and respond as it tells her to do, the outcome of her labour and delivery is better in many many ways. Please don't let them bully you into these 'decisions' of theirs.

Pitufina · 19/08/2008 10:38

We both keep thinking of boy names, but any I like he doesn't and I don't like the ones he suggests! We have about five names that we MIGHT agree on. But nothing that really jumps out! This is when I start hoping it is a girl!!
I had a terrible night's sleep last night. Spent about two hours just lying there not being able to get to sleep (whilst yawning maddly and feeling exhausted!)
