Well that was cutting it a bit fine...

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
imoscarsmum · 17/08/2008 14:58

Afternoon all. Doing sweet FA today, leaving DP finishing nursery. I'm with you Notcitrus, really want baby to come out at term, not before (35 weeks now). been having niggly pains and backache but all come and go. Taking raspberry leaf tablets and not noticed any changes. TMI alert - one big difference is I'm having to poo more . I'm a once a day girl normally but I'm 3 or 4 times now, even waking up at 3am!! Assume it's baby pressure unless anyone knows different.

Sass many congrats. Hope to god I am as calm and organised as you - as it's my first, somehow i doubt it!!

potxola · 17/08/2008 15:01

Eanz that is just great. i bet you feel a bit more powerful, confident and in control of your labour. If I were you I would change doctors. AND you are not fussy. Not everyone has a straight forward pregnancy. Look at us lot in this thread.

notcitrus I also slept a lot when pregnant with my first baby. And when he was a newborn I would sleep a lot while he slept during the day. That didn't last long though. At 4 months he would only have naps in his pushchair, so I had to go out rain or shine.

Enjoy it. Some mornings now I even forget to sit down and if I manage it, two seconds later my precious 4 yrs old son comes up asking me to help fixing the Thomas the tank engine tracks on the floor......

You do manage, we have to. I haven't put on so much weight this time and I feel fitter.
My treat is watching Eastenders (Isn't it sad?)when he has gone to bed while my husband prepares the supper for us. It it was left up to me I would have a sandwich.

Like Sassafrass says, I will forget about all this tiredness when I see my children together in the hospital.

notcitrus · 17/08/2008 15:47

Just sipping my first mug of raspberry leaf tea. It tastes like pond water with a hint of raspberry! However after eating three gingernuts with it it's inoffensive enough.

Glad to know I'm not the only exhausted one. I've heard the 'nap when they nap' before and managed it when looking after SIL2's baby - right next to his moses basket so I could hear him if necessary. Quite glad I'm not houseproud as children really couldn't make the place much more messy (house came with pre-stained carpets, etc!).

Trying not to get stressed about the building works (I was really relaxed and reassuring a stressed MrNC until last night) - it looks like the builder may go bankrupt. We're trying to get all the materials he's already bought, and everything needed to make the house watertight, into the garden, so if necessary someone else can take over. We find out on Tuesday whether they turn up to fit the girders or not...

I also had a nap this PM. DD is poorly and is stuck to my side so we ended up napping on the couch together. I had an interesting amount of squirming down lower on the bump. When I went for a shower it looks like the bump has dropped. I hope this means heartburn relief!

Hi guys

What a fantastic story sass you seem to be coping really well, it gives those of us with more than one hope. Your girls are gorgeous too.

I understand the Thomas the tank track senario very much pot

Glad you have come to a comprimise eandz I wonder how many other patients of his have been unhappy.

Im back from a most fantastic spar break. We had our own private log cabin in the middle of a woods. Lots of yummy food and rest. I am ready for anything now!

Glad you had a fab break too carrieon. Hope the teething situation is settling down, I remember that satge well.

Any news from ponymum anyone? I hope she is ok. Its been a while since she posted and she is normally a regular. Maybe u could text her carrieon If you still have her number.

Hope ur builder turns up notcitrus imo I am having increased bowel movements too!

Well alls I need now is my baby. I must say Im surprised we havent had any more arrivals over this weekend.

Oh and I brought ina mays guide to childbirth today. I sat in waterstones for an hour with a latte reading it. I think its going to make all the difference in having a positive experience. I love hearing all the lovely birth stories. I am going to have a bath and read some more now.

chat later x

Star send that dream my way . Nesting by proxy seems a fab idea, I must try it out.
kisKi sory to hear your dd is poorly but good news if youve dropped. I still have the most dreadful heartburn.
Ds is still with my folks till tues, I am really starting to miss him now I am home, its too quite. He is well looked after though x

slinkiemalinki · 17/08/2008 17:37

That's good eandz - did he mention who the other doctor is? Glad you are getting to a compromise.

Congratulations Sassa!

hopefully · 17/08/2008 19:13

Eandz glad you've come to some kind of compromise with the doc - sounds like at least if he was taking the piss before he's realised he can't continue to.

Whoever was asking about bowel movements, my gut has been ridiculous the last week or two, every day is like the day after a curry - not too painful or too weird, just a bit uncomfortable and a bit more regular than normal! Sorry, TMI...

Had some bad news today, DP's sis (who only told us she was pregnant a couple of days ago) has almost certainly had a miscarriage today, she's having a scan in the next couple of days to confirm. Really sad for her, hard to know what to say, having not been through anything like it myself.

Oooh I'm gonna try nesting-by-proxy!
Totally drugged dd tonight with ibuprofen an hour before bed, calpol in her milk, teething gel etc, and she's gone down to sleep much better than she did at her nap this lunch time. Hoping she sleeps through coz I'm sooooo tired.

I've emailed Ponymum, maybe she doesn't have email in her new house?

TMI alert: Yesterday I had really strong pain in my girly bits, was so odd. Hasn't come back, maybe baby was sitting on a nerve?

hopefully I'm so sorry to hear about your SIL. Having been there with the mc personally what I hated hearing was that there had probably been 'something wrong' with the baby so it was for the best. I want my baby as it comes, warts and all ikywim (which is why I had none of the screening tests) so it was no comfort at all and actually quite insulting. The best people were the ones who loved me whatever state I was in, let me cry, then took me out for a pedicure and a posh meal and a glass of vin rouge and basically gave me a reason to smile.

notcitrus I've got the mongan hypnobirthing book but haven't listened to the cd yet. A couple of friends have sworn by it though so I'm going to try to listen and read it before this LO arrives!

Eanz I'm glad you're happier with what you've arranged, it's hard to have to go through though I imagine.

This baby now feels enormous (although Obstetrician said it was a normal size as far as he could feel! I can't believe it's got a month left to grow....

I am nesting by proxy too, my m is here taking directions while I sit in exhausted pile.

Went on the hospital tour with dh the other day and it was ok. I just wish the delivery room 'beds' weren't so high, I'd like to be on something soft on the floor bearing down.... I've booked into the 'birth centre suite' at the hospital but no guarantee you can stay in there.

potxola I stayed in for about 4 days after I had ds in one of those one person rooms, I was so glad. I tore quite badly and just felt rough for a bit and got a lot of rest and a chance just to be with ds. But everyone's different I know.

Hopefully I'm so sorry to hear that about your SIL. I lost my last pg at 9 weeks a few years ago (I've blocked out exactly when) it took me a long time to recover, I hope she's got lots of loving support, it sounds like she has.

Hey all!

im having a serious word with my DC to turn around!! Got till Friday and im nervous to think about it!

mamamufin · 17/08/2008 21:07

My belly button is feeling really strectched and I have a massive stretch mark where I have previously had my belly button pierced 3 times . My folks always said I would regret it. Doh! I am lashing on the bio oil.

mamamufin · 17/08/2008 21:11

Hope your babe turns biglips. Is it obvious to you that he is the wrong way? I am seriously thinking mine is upside down as lots of fango kicks and rib hicups. Got midwife on friday so will get it checked out.

surelyyoucantbeserious · 18/08/2008 08:38

Starlight I agree nesting by proxy is great! Wanted front room rearranged - I drew out a plan, gave to DH and sat down while he did all the work!

Went to NCT classes at weekend and I have to say they were really good. Great for helping you to understand pros and cons of different birth options, and to ask the right questions along the way, while keeping an eye on the fact you don't always have a choice. Well up for it all now!! Also lovely to meet local mums-to-be, especially as I spent the 1st week of mat leave thinking 'OMG what have I done with my life' !

Absolutely horrendous heartburn - feels like I have actually burnt my throat...yuk...but not long now.

Have a good day everyone.

Just updating my age, boohoo! Another year older today.

Wow I've missed loads on here, can't believe we have babies already!!!!!

Huge congrats sassafrass What a beautiful name you have given your daughter

Not long to go now for some of us, quite scary really. I'm 34wks today and I have most definately had enough! I can't wait until it's all over. I can no longer bend down which is a bit of a pain to say the least with 1yr old dd who has just learnt to walk. Great timing lol!

Is anyone else as disorganised as me? I have only just started thinking about packing a bag. I haven't bought any nappies and have only just bought baby a couple of outfits. Where on earth has the time gone? Not to mention the fact that we have changed our minds again and he STILL hasn't got a name, aaargghhhh so much to do and no time (or money) to do it. Just hope he isn't early.

Have got buggy sorted so that's one thing! My lovely inlaws have bought us the new Phil & Teds Vibe with all the bits and pieces. Very very nice of them Went round there to check it out and see if I can work out how to use it and I'm suddenly regretting having to use a double rather than dd's lovely lightweight stroller that we have. Hoping it will be easy to use. Anyone have any experience with this one at all??

I have next mw appointment on Thurs. Need repeat bloods to check my iron as they were really low at 28wks. Feel a lot better having taken iron tablets for last 2wks though. Also last bloods came back as inconclusive for antibodies so need that rechecked too. Oh the fun!

Oooh sorry for the essay hope you're all well and loking forward to these impending arrivals

Gem x

potxola · 18/08/2008 09:17

Good morning!
I got a bit scared this morning because the baby wasn't moving as she usually does this morning and I could not remember if she moved yesterday.....
But she is Ok now. Jam on toast woke her up.

I am very nervous about having another baby and a bit embarrased about it. It is not my first time, I should be OK, but I can't help it.
The other night I dreamt that my husband said to me "I have changed my mind. I don't want a baby" !!!!!!!!!My dh is the best husband, father and friend and I don't know why I dreamt that, it is probably my hormones.
It could be because my first time I went for an induction 10 days overdue, very relaxed, and 2 days later everything went wrong and my son had to be in the NICU.

SORRY, I just needed to talk or write about it.Thanks for being there.

biglips · 18/08/2008 09:46

potxola - my baby hardly moved for 3 days the other day and then suddenly it went WHACK!..ouch! and i was happy

Yes its normal to have derams like that as youre just abit nervous and so am I! as i ended up having an e c-section and i really dont want to go thru that again but i cant control my body.

mama- yes i can feel it the wrong way as the head is on my left side and the kicks are down below but ive had only about 1 or 2 kicks in the ribs. i didnt know it was breech till i had the scan.

potxola · 18/08/2008 10:14

Thanks girls! You have made me feel better already.
A thought: If I was very rich, I will book us all in a luxurious spa with nice consultants, and midwifes available for a week. No housework, no children, just good food and treatments. We could sleep a lot, watch positive films and have a relaxing time together. 5 days will do.
