OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Veggiemummy · 15/07/2008 18:09

yeah they are good for going away fold down really small, only prob is the travel bag on mine was a bit crap the zipper broke on the first trip, is your still working? Oh and they can also be strapped onto the little back tray thing of a push bike. and not effect your cycling and is no wider than pannier bags.

majormoo · 15/07/2008 19:14

Hi all. We just have a maclaren now. When I had DD we bought an expensive Mamas and Papas travel system which I always regretted as it was too bulky. Only good thing was that it was a pram when the baby was tiny, and it good to be able to see them at that point.

Goodness I could not face a festival with the kids. I would just want to get wasted all the time and feel like I was missing out!

Heard the heartbeat at the midwife today which was good. Scan on Monday-will be glad to get it over with. Not planning on finding out the sex. Have started to feel movement which is favourite thing about pregnancy

cc21 · 15/07/2008 20:06

mibbles I share your cream addiction, twice daily I slop it everywhere! I did avoid stretch marks with DD so hopefully I'll be okay this time. although DD now passes it to me as I get out of the shower in a morning and she's not even 2

Feel enormous today, think i've put on about a stone so fr. But I'm definately much more laid back on the eating front this time round, i like crisps so what the hell.

tried to breath out today to make me look really pregnant as I was crammed onto a packed commuter train on way home from work. I think people thought I was probably just a bit of a fatty.....

EffiePerine · 15/07/2008 20:14

STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALES!

I reckon I'm going to out on weight anyway, so I don't need to know how much . I avert my eyes when being weighed as well.

re: finding out the sex, we didn't with DS but I'm tempted to ask this time. I think giving birth is surprising enough without any extra news.

Food? Well, got back this evening and ate 4 (FOUR) bags of wheat crunchies, 2 cheese triangles and a tube of softmints. Now cooking some healthy chicken...

EffiePerine · 15/07/2008 20:15

oh and am slapping on any moisturiser that comes to hand - Body Shop body butter at the moment.

cc21 · 15/07/2008 20:21

oohh wheat crunchies, not had them for ages!!!!

DH made steak and ale pie for dinner - I love him lots at mo

Veggiemummy · 15/07/2008 20:31

what are wheat crunchies they sound healthy

EffiePerine · 15/07/2008 20:43

ahem, not really

unless you count bacon/tomato/worcester sauce flavour wheaty crisps with about a zillion additives as 'healthy'

they do taste good though

RhinestoneCowgirl · 15/07/2008 20:52

Evening all, not posted for a while but all well here. Just back from a day working in London and someone offered me their seat on the tube

Started to feel definite movements, but not all the time. Anomaly scan in a few weeks, hopefully DH can come along for that one.

Prams - we've had a Maclaren from birth for DS as I travel on public transport a lot and also walk miles. It's been on trains, buses, the tube and next week will be going on a plane! It's really easy to fold up with one hand.

Veggiemummy · 15/07/2008 21:03

where you off to RC?

rowergirl · 15/07/2008 21:27

Hello all

Am trying to think back to last pg- - and failing - to detect difference between wind and baby wriggles.

Buggy-wise...we're still using the Urban Mountain Buggy we bought for DS. Great machine, but doesn't fold up particularly small and doesn't fit on trains very easily, as we found out to our cost when the country-bumpkin family took a trip to the big smoke. Us hicks should stay in the sticks!

Took the DS out for a jog in the afore mentioned contraption yesterday. Thought I was doing ok until someone overtook me...walking . Time to throw the scales in the bin!

mibbes · 15/07/2008 21:51

cc21 I'm lad I have a fellow stretchmark cream obsessor !
I just did Davina dvd and TBH found the aerobics section very tame, I honestly thought it was still the warm up ! The toning section is ok though. I far prefer the Erin O'Brien prenatal workout, more challenging - maybe further down the line I'll prefer Davina's gentler approach

RhinestoneCowgirl · 15/07/2008 21:53

Veggiemummy - I'm taking DS to Geneva to stay with friends for a few days, so just a short flight. Not taken him on a plane before...

Veggiemummy · 15/07/2008 22:00

oh so cute how old is he, will love planes. DS is a bit of an old hand at plane travel with our family being in Australia but still gets so excited when we take off, also has a bit of a thing for the airline hostesses.

Veggiemummy · 15/07/2008 22:26

i've got the Erin O'brien DVD....but yet to take it out of the wrapper, right it's coming out tomorrow when DS at nursery.

hattyyellow · 16/07/2008 09:24

LadyT we couldn't bear the suspense either and asked re gender at the nuchal scan. They said 60-70% another little girl.

I find it easier to know and to think of the little one as a she/start thinking of names etc. But I am a bit of a control freak!

Lovely day here - they've just opened a lovely farm shop and cafe at the end of our road. Very kind of the owners as we live in the middle of nowhere and going anywhere normally involves a drive - so walking down with the DD's and watching them play outside with the rabbits whilst I sit back with a cup of tea (and probably a cake to add a few more pounds that I don't need!)

www.groovystyle.co.uk/productpages/outnabout/nipper-360-single-buggy.htm

We got the double version of the above for our twins (gettingbigger might be worth a look for you?) as it's the lightest and narrowest double available. I still use it sometimes 3 years on and it's a dream to push and fold up.

Thinking of getting the single for no 3 as we do a lot of walking and it's good for town and country.

Beans33 · 16/07/2008 10:26

Hurray! My mood has definitely improved. Feeling the baby move quite a lot for the first time properly today. None of this butterfly stuff we're told about. It's like it's squirming away - and doing a spot of breakdancing on my bladder! Lovely feeling.

Woke up this morning (on back, hope that's not bad, but seem to roll onto it in my sleep and it's so comfy!) and my tummy was tight as a drum. Made DH press it to feel it, and seconds later, it had gone squashy - little beastie had clearly found it uncomfortable and swum away from the pressing! Really good to know it's in there and squiggling around! And I actually feel pregnant now, rather than just flabby! Helps that I've put on my one posh Isabelle Oliver top, which makes me feel good!

Hope everyone else feeling perky today. Am also looking forward to doctor's appointment this pm.

LadyThompson · 16/07/2008 10:48

I had my new Isabella Oliver top on yesterday. I didn't like the stuff when I got it out of the packet but it's very good on...

Still haven't decided on pushchair or changing bag. Sometimes it's fun to think about things that don't really matter in the grand scheme of things!

Beans33 · 16/07/2008 10:58

I agree. Although we're going to have to upgrade our car, as it's on its last legs and not very reliable - and that feels like a big deal! What does anyone recommend? We're thinking of just going up to a golf, rather than to a big old family one. Are they big enough, or should we get an older bigger car?

GettingBiggerBird · 16/07/2008 11:07

Mmm, wheat crunchies. Could we pretend they're a craving?

Hatty thanks for the tip about the nipper, that and the phil and ted's seem to be the best options, hadn't realised there was a massive difference in weight. The Nipper seems a bit more basic, and doesn't have the cocoons, but if it saves my back I guess that makes it a winner.

3 weeks to decide whether to find out the sex, it's a tough call...

Beans33 · 16/07/2008 12:07

Mmm, wheat crunchies... got them in our evil snack dispenser at work. Might have to get some for lunch...

hattyyellow · 16/07/2008 12:18

I always thought wheat crunchies were more healthy than normal crisps - doh! It's the word wheat it sounds so much more wholesome than other crisp names.

I want some too - perhaps the tongue tingling spicy tomato ones.

Gettingbigger not sure what the Phil and Ted cocoons are - the nipper you can get newborn baby inserts which we got which kind of snuggle the babies in. They can also lie flat.

The only thing I found frustrating with it as they got older is that the seats are quite reclined even on the most forward position. I have to put pillows behind the seats so that they can be propped up a bit and see more out of the sides.

Beans I think a key thing to buying a car is what sort of pram you plan to get..some have more boot space than others. You also accumulate so much stuff for trips out as your family grows that a big boot is generally helpful if you are considering a bigger car..

Also ease of bending down to buckle the baby in and out of their car seat. We had a Peugeot 305 when we had the girls which had a very low roof and I was always smacking my head on the roof. We now have a Citroen Picasso which is fab.

4 doors are obviously easier than 2 in terms of putting the baby in and out of the seat without breaking your back!

Beans33 · 16/07/2008 12:26

Yes, very true. We were also thinking about getting a quite old Audi A4 Avant thing, which sound great - although a bit expensive, perhaps! Thanks very much for advice!

mibbes · 16/07/2008 13:16

Beans glad you are feeling perkier today I also thought the movement felt more like squirming than butterflies, although still haven't felt anything for a few days - keep eating things to encourage movement (that's my excuse !) any tips ?

JollyBear and Disenchanted the ladies from the Emmsy Waiting Room thread have started an AN thread if you want to pop in ?

rosmerta · 16/07/2008 13:24

wheat crunchies yum! Really hard to find anywhere round here that sells them though

beans glad you're feeling much better, me too!

hatty we've got a Picasso too, definitely recommend one for space!

I think someone on here recommended getting a spraycan for dcs to water the garden with, whoever it was thank you! Got one today for ds & its saved me going in & out to fill up the watering can every 2 mins!
