Thinking of you peanut - hope things settle down for a bit. I had similar with my second baby and I was in Aberdeen at the time and only 29 wks pg - their SCBU was full and so I was transferred with midwife in an ambulance to Dundee - However, it turned out I had bad urine infection and things settled down and actually went over my dates in the end Oh and the steroids I was given to mature the babies lungs certainly did something - he was making a noise before the whole of his body was out!!!!!

Liberlady - take care and pamper yourself today!!

I am obviously way too laid back and have got virtually nothing ready for this LO. Haven't even considered packing a bag as I am booked for home birth again but maybe I shouldn't be so complacent - anything could happen Must do something positive today!!

Peanut,
OMG you poor thing, what can you do but hope for the best and plenty of rest. Hopefully LO will stay in a little longer. At least you have all the precautions taken as in the injection for the lungs. Rest up and let us know how you are when you can.

libralady
Bloody hell women that was a trip and a half!! Poor DS with CP, Both DD's had them last year in Spain and it was a nightmare. Rest as much as you can (not always the way)and try to relax (not easy either)

So have to pack bag this wkend!

Have developed hives or a rash on my leg!! Bloody driving me mad!

JODIEhavingababy · 16/05/2008 10:58

Right, just spent and age catching up, and now I've forgotten everything, so sorry if I miss any one out...

Peanut how scary, I know others have said similar, but it happened to my friend at 29 weeks, and in the end she went over due and had to be induced! Just take it easy from now on! Look after yourself..

Pigley congrats on Maternity leave.. and at your glucose results!

libralady you must be soo tired poor love, hope you and your DS are OK and settled back at home now!

Isaidno you'll have to let me know what the Baby Show's like, I'm going tomorrow.. I'm so excited, I haven't done a 'big shop' for baby yet and need a few things that I've been holding out on to see if I can pick up a bargain or 2!

Tjuice 2 weeks today and you'll be a married lady!! (it is the 30th your wedding isn't it?)

TJuice · 16/05/2008 11:33

peanut! fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly and you can chill (relatively) for a few more weeks. impatient child!!!

libra - sounds like a slight 'mare! now you absolutely need a holiday!

jodie - I know! its so weird. everytime dp and even a tiny little argument, i say "its off! its off! i can't possibly marry you!" i won't be able to say that anymore

i hated the gruesome yellow that the nursery's first lick of paint turned out to be so i am off paint shopping for something less virulent. i am new to this but its seems like, whatever colour you want, you should buy at least a couple of shades lighter . . . .

tonight my girlfriends are all meeting up for a birthday get-together and then hitting the bars. I think i will attempt to gussy up for the first part (drinks and food at their vintage clothing shop) but not sure if i can face a crawl of Copenhagen's latest trendy bars later. will see how i feel (do feel great and high-energy after acupuncture session yesterday and accidental lie-in this morning) but don't you feel self-conscious in those public situations? or do you just brazen it out with a virgin cocktail????

JODIEhavingababy · 16/05/2008 11:37

Tjuice, I'm Ok to a point, I just can't 'do' crowds any more... I also get abit hot and bothered and hate anyone touching me.... Must be getting OLD I'd give it a go and see how you feel, you might be OK!

Heffa · 16/05/2008 12:02

TJuice - I remember feeling exactly the same before I got married! Saying 'right, that's it, I'm getting a divorce' sounds much harsher. Now I just mutter 'my mother warned me about you', which we both know is a big lie because my mother LOVES my DH.

I've loved choosing paint but there have been some fairly awful choices so I've reluctantly decided that sample pots are worth it.

LikerabbitsBX · 16/05/2008 12:36

Hi guys,

Just got a letter back from hospital saying that I need a Glucose tolarance test. I had my bloods done last week and this referral has come from thsoe results.

Has anyone else had this? Is there likely to be a problem, could I have diabetes?

Any advice!

sweetkitty · 16/05/2008 13:55

oh you have all been so talkative today, well I have eventually started my hospital bag, have ordered some Always from Tesco's 3 packs for £3 quite nice day today I asked the DDs what they would like to do today and they want to paint so thats me for the next hour or so.

isaidno - hope you are having a nice time at the baby show and I bet you have bought far too much

libralady - what can I say, like you said you couldn't make it up, your poor DS it was bad enough both of mine having chicken pox at home last year nevermind being abroadand on your own too you poor thing. I hope you get a chance to rest today inbetween all the washing.

Tjuice - I am the same with paint always buy a colour think I like it put it on the wall and think no I don't like it usually it's too bright. Apart from my lovely chocolate brown wall that I actually wanted darker. My DDs have pink and lilac rooms already. Plan is DD3 will have the little lilac room and the two older ones will share and we will redecorate before then, will let them chose what they want, that will be fun. Have a good night tonight as well.

I'm usually flagging by 10pm these days, for a night owl like me it's a bit different.

Peanut73 · 16/05/2008 14:11

Libralady - OMG!! You poor thing! That is a real comedy of errors - although not really a comedy as it's not very funny. You absolute trooper!

To all you absolute angels wishing me well I want to say a huge thank you as it has made me feel really good. What a lovely bunch we have on here.

Think I have almost everything for the baby now apart from a breastfeeding pillow (I like the look of the widgey one), a sling, baby gym, and a UV cover for the bugaboo.

Oh - I will also need to stock up on some premature baby clothes to be on the same side I think, or is that just tempting fate??!!

pigley - love the maternity leave laptop in bed vibe - very cool.

disney - I too will remember the steroid injections for many moons to come... felt like someone was injecting me with molten lead!

Experienced mums - did any of you buy/use breast shells when nursing? Not the pads, but the ones you stick in your bra and it collects milk that leaks?

sweetkitty · 16/05/2008 14:16

peanut - it's difficult with clothes as you don't know what size of baby you are going to get for example DD1 was 6lbs 3ozs, newborn up to 11lbs clothes were huge on here nevemind 0-3 months, we went out and bought her 7 1/2lbs clothes at first. DD2 we bought some small clothes and she was 9lbs 3ozs, 10lbs a week later so practically straight into 0-3 months clothes. If you have a few newborn up to 11lbs outfits to start with especially babygros you will be fine until you see what size you get.

On the breastshells I had them with DD1, used them not that often even though I used to squirt from the side that wasn't feeding when I was feeding from the other soide IYSWIM. I could never remember to sterilise them etc, with DD2 never bothered far too lazy. Would recommend you get some nipple shields just in case though.

sweetkitty · 16/05/2008 14:20

oh I forgot about what I used the breastshells for, when my nipples were agony with DD1 I couldn't bear anything touching them so put the breastshells in my bra and walked about like that (indoors only ) they were a godsend would collect leaky milk, let my nipples breathe and meant that nothing touched them.

Lasinoh cream people as well £10 but worth it!

LilyToTheB · 16/05/2008 14:31

Hi everyone!

Peanut - Oh you poor thing! What a surprise! The thought of having the LO soon must be a bit scary!
Hope you're ok and baby hangs on in there for a few more weeks yet at least. Like the others said, just try to relax.

Libra - Sounds like a bit of a nightmare your holiday. You sound very brave, well done for getting through it!
Hoe you try and relax a bit too now you're home

I've been asleep for most of today - heaven!
Not been sleeping much this week, and got quite upset last night cos the house move is taking so long & it all got a bit too much! After lots of tears and telling DP how I feel, I felkt much better, so able to catch up on some sleep!
I just want to start nesting! It's so frustrating!

Have a nice day all

isaidno · 16/05/2008 14:32

Minkus - I keep meaning to shampoo my carpets too! I'm sure the boredom of waiting for baby to arrive will persuade me to do it soon!

libralady - you have to try and relax now you're home!!

Jodie - really enjoyed baby show; not as big as I expected, but I spent enough money!! Bought hotmilk nursing bra and matching pants (£49!!!), some more washable nappies, taggie blanket toy, some posh bibs, drinking cup and got lots of free samples of stuff. Couldn't believe it was £8 for parking - but should have guessed really.

Peanut - never bothered with breastshells here. Never leaked that much. If I were you I would buy one pack of tiny baby vests and 1 of babygros, but don't open the pack and keep the receipt so you can return them once you get to 36 weeks. SK is prob right that newborn will be okay.

Heffa · 16/05/2008 14:37

Sorry to hear about the house move Lily - it's so frustrating isn't it? I was ready to travel to Cardiff to track down our solicitor just to scream at him. Four weeks later (and getting settled) it seems like years ago. I hope it all gets sorted soon!

gillythekid · 16/05/2008 14:47

Sorry to hear of moving house worries, everything progresses so slowly in this country, bloody solicitors!!

Was just buying a big pack of 80 breast pads in Boots when a new mum told me not to bother! My friend has loads spare as she never leaked much, will be seeing her in a couple of weeks. Don't know about breastshells, are they a bit more environmentally friendly but do the same job?

Been advised not to be fitted for a nursing bra until 2 weeks before EDD, a bit nervous about going in to Covent Garden on the bus! Any tips on how to predict the size, then I can order on the net (so much cheaper than Bravissimo anyway!)

RUMPEL · 16/05/2008 14:48

Hi All,

PEANUT sending your peanut sticky vibes Rest - a pain I know but has to be done. With DD my BP went very high the last 2-3 months and I had to stay in and do hee haw or they would have taken me into hospital - boring but it teaches you to relax a bit

LIBRALADY - poor you. Some holiday! there is no way I could be bothered going anywhere far when pg - too tiring. Chill out and ejoy being home - the weather has been so nice too.

ISAIDNO - the hotmilk stuff is well worth it I made a taggie for my DD and added some ribbons with her name on. Gonna make another for this littly too.

PEANUT - no breast shield here TBH I didn't leak that much anyway and defo no squirting. Hoping I will be more productive this tiem. I have got some nipple shields though as I had terrible problems last time and my nips were utter agony - bleeding, cracked etc. lanisoh is the way to go. Still DD has managed to pull my nips (especially left one) out a bit so hopefully this time will be easier. My right boob is a full cup bigger than my left and I always found it really hard to feed form it - ended up with mastitis in it and eventually just fed form the left one

SWEETKITTY - I meant to ask you if your Mam is still in the 3 towns?

I got the best mark I've ever had for 1 of my recent essays - whoopee! I cannot believe it - so relieved I started crying! am sooooo PATHETIC at the moment. Just 1 more result to come in thank God.

KAZ - hope you exam yesterday went well and you toher girlies still studying.

TJUICE - masters with LO is really really difficult. My SIL went back this year (her DD is 14 months now) and my brother looks after her most of the time. You have so much reading and research to do on top of everything else. I think you miss out an awful lot on stuff you can't get back - I know we are all different but I like to be aorund for DD - even if it is frustrating/boring/tiresome sometimes - a big squishy cuddle and a huge smile form her makes it all worth while

POLEDRA - glad to hear things are positive with you too.

MONKEY24 - please let us know how you are.
Take care all.

xxx

LilyToTheB · 16/05/2008 14:49

Heffa - Yeah I'm trying to hang in there and not get too stressed, but it's difficult! It is so frustrating yeah! I feel like screaming at the solicitors too, I don't know why it's taking so long!!!

Glad you're all moved and settled now, that must be a nice feeling? You can really begin the 'nesting' now!

sweetkitty · 16/05/2008 15:57

Rumpel - now I am can't remember when I mentioned the 3 towns but yes all our family are still down there. DP is a 3 towns boy as well.

You lot that have hotmilk bras, how are you doing sizes? I was thinking of getting a Next bra for my hospital bag then waiting a few weeks and getting a hotmilk one. Your boobs are so up and down though, I think I will definitely be a 34 across the back again maybe go between a DD and a C depending on milk supply.

LilyToTheB · 16/05/2008 17:00

Just done a pregancy yoga dvd, was lovely and so relaxing! Mmmmm

I remember someone on here mentioned hypnobirthing, has anyone tried it? Was wondering if there's any CDs anyone can recommend?

Hope you're all having a nice afternoon. The weekend's nearly here - yay!

isaidno · 16/05/2008 17:10

SK - My old nursing bras are all 36C; today I was fitted for a hotmilk one - 32D!! Prob cos not as fat as before. The hotmilk ones has lots of hooks so the fitting lady said I would prob need to go on the loosest to start with. Will prob persevere with my old ones for a bit, and if they fit too badly will get some new ones. I am planning to live in the fancy hotmilk one to get my money's worth!

gillythekid · 16/05/2008 17:12

Hi Lily I've just done the hypnobirthing course and am practising daily. There's the book by Marie Mongan but she recommends you do the course, I can see why as you learn such a lot about eliminating the fear=tension=pain cycle. Not sure if there's anything available on CD as it's all a bit too complex to learn the techniques but you could always read the book and find a good relaxation/guided imagery CD. It's not too late to do a course if you fancy it, it's £295 but worth every penny (so say mums who've had such wonderful births!) Our local NCT class was £265 so it was a no-brainer for me! Yoga is so lovely, I've been doing ante natal classes for the last 10 weeks.

sweetkitty · 16/05/2008 17:13

isaidno - think my old nursing bras were a 34DD or something I can't remember I threw them all out when I finished BFing. They are very nice though which one did you get?

sweetkitty · 16/05/2008 17:14

My across the road neighbour has just done a hypnobirthing course and was telling me all about painfree labour and birth. After two very painful births I was very sorry. Maybe I should get her over to practice on me.

LilyToTheB · 16/05/2008 17:30

gillythekid thanks for the tip. I've e-mailed a lady who comes to your home & does hypnobirthing, it costs £200 for 5 sessions. I'd really like to do it,just can't afford it until the house sale goes through. Am hoping it's not too late by then, I'll be about 35 weeks!
Was wondering if there's something you can do at home in the meantime. I'll look into the books etc

isaidno · 16/05/2008 17:39

SK - I got this one
