Amby Ntures Nest - a question fotr anyone that has one...

Did you get/use the snuggler?

Have got the nest and don't want to spend out more if they are not really necessary. But likewise, don't want to not get one if they are actually quite important!

Feedmenow, I have bought an amby nest, and the snuggler, but am waiting to give birth, so can't give any more info than that! Sorry!

There are regular ambynest threads, it might be worth doing a search to see if this question has been asked before

ejt1764 · 08/03/2008 11:04

There's a couple of people on the Oct 2007 post-natal thread who have them (not me, I'm afraid ...) perhaps it might be worth asking there?

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 08/03/2008 11:12

I've got an Amby, my DD is now 6 months. I didn't have a snuggler, she seemed quite happy without it.

Only problem I have now is she is SO cosy in there, I don't know how we're going to get her used to being in the huge expanse that is her cot!

They are fab though.

monthlymayhem · 08/03/2008 11:32

Glad you asked this feedmenow, I was wondering the same thing. I've got the Amby but haven't bought the snuggler, and was thinking I would swaddle instead - baby not due till next week so no experience of how that works out yet!

Thanks for the replies!

Nice to see you ejt - have been listening to vbac cd's regularly!! Due in 10 days, so fingers crossed!

So it seems that I might be better waiting til LO is born and seeing how it goes? My nest was delivered really quickly so I imagine that if I order a snuggler then that, too, would be delivered quickly.

MM, if you get there first then let me know!

Inzi has given you the same answer I would have given.
I used the snuggler until ds was 2 months old to keep him centred but it wasn't truly necessary...and I second her reccommendation for groe bags,.... oh and we swaddled too for the first few weeks (as well as using the snuggler)until he was big enough to fit the groe bags.

kittywise · 09/03/2008 11:06

I never used a snuggler, it was fine. Don't spend money on it!

feedmenow · 09/03/2008 16:59

Inzi, how much would you want for it?

thinking of you as you approach your due date - I'll be checking the birth announcements regularly!

I didn't use the snuggler but DS2 was big. He unfortunately lasted all of about two months in the natures nest.

delcymru · 10/03/2008 04:52

I've bought an Amby. It's sitting next to my bed waiting for LO to be born, any day now hopefully. I also asked about the snuggler but have'nt bought one as yet. Figured that if I really need one it'll only take a couple of days for me to get one , as the Nest did. Planning to swaddle and dee how it goes.

suzi2 · 10/03/2008 23:07

I never used one. Felt it was snuggly enough. DS was almost 8lbs, DD was 7lb 7oz. But both gained a pound a week to start with so would have been too fat for it anyway lol.

Inzi, DS never budged in the Ambi but DD learned to roll over in it by about 7/8 months and we had to stop using it. Ambi said it was rare... but just watch her incase she does the same!

Heffa · 11/03/2008 13:47

Sorry to hijack the thread, but where's the best place to buy an Amby from?

delcymru · 11/03/2008 14:17

I bought mine from the Amby uk site. You can find them on e-bay also , new and second -hand.The Amby uk site has all the onfo about the nest and is really informative.Plus they delivered really quickly too.

Heffa · 11/03/2008 14:21

Thanks delcymru

suzi2 · 11/03/2008 15:42

I bought mine from babyworld as they were the only place that sold them back then.

MildWest · 02/07/2008 12:06

To resurrect the questions about Amby Nests for those that have them....thinking of getting one as sound great but am a naive first timer (due November) so have a few questions...

What do you do for daytime sleeping? Am envisaging wanting somewhere downstairs for the baby to sleep in the day, so guess I need something I can put in the lounge/kitchen. Is it worth borrowing a moses basket for daytime rather than traisping back upstairs to the bedroom?

Secondly, baby will be born in chilly November, is it easy to find sheets/blankets that fit the Amby mattress, or would it be better to use grobags? Presumably will still need a blanket or sorts to keep little arms warm....

Any tips greatly appreciated!

TillyScoutsmum · 02/07/2008 12:11

Hi

I had a carrycot thing with my buggy which I used for daytime naps but tbh, dd never really took to it and was going for naps upstairs in her Amby from about 6 weeks

Buy the sheets that fit from Amby site - I have heard that pillowcases also fit, but never tried it. Normal cellular blankets folded were fine

I never had the snuggler

And for those who are worried - I moved dd into her "big" cot at about 9 months. She was a bit unsettled for a couple of nights (had to cuddle to sleep) but then she was fine

idano · 04/07/2008 15:19

i too am a first time parent considering a natures nest. The only criticism I have heard was from a friend of mine who bought one a long time ago (so possibly an earlier version?)- she said that the hammock sits quite low and as a parent you really have to bend a lot to put the baby into/ take the baby out; this put a lot of strain on her back. Is this consistent with other parent's experience?
