VintageGardenia · 06/03/2008 12:04

Poor libbysparents, mine were JUST like that when their last dog died, also a springer spaniel, and the light of their lives. My father built her a coffin and we all dug a grave in their garden and it went on for days and was just appalling.

Fathers somehow just don't cry, do they?

My ds said to me a few weeks ago "I saw Dad cry" and I thought oh no some dreadful emotional crisis and my ds said "we were wrestling and I accidentally kicked him in the privates".

Shazza2002 · 06/03/2008 13:08

Aftrenoon ladies

Really sorry about your parents dog libbyssister. Sorry that's it's made you sad too

Dizzy - Congratulations on the nookie. You won't be able to get enough of it now My DP is loving it at the moment, he said if it's gonna be this good he'll get me pregnant more often So I told him it would probably be best all round if we looked at other ways to keep the sex marathons up once I'd had the baby

Buckets · 06/03/2008 18:58

Sazzles - My 1st CS was so last minute it was under general anaesthetic so yes I did do the labour thing but it was so painful and horrific I had flashbacks and panic attacks. That's why Baby#2 was elective and funnily enough that cured me, I've finally forgotten the pain like other mums - never thought I'd reach that feeling.
So now I'm daft enough to give VBAC a very slim chance - labour before 40wks is much less likely than after and if it doesn't happen then fine by me (or even 'Phew'). TBH the closer I get the more I edge towards an elective actually, there is this feeling that a VBAC would be 'selling out' on that poor old version of me that suffered so, iyswim.
Sorry, that's not very encouraging is it LOL.

miamla · 06/03/2008 19:50

oh my oh my oh my
i'm back from a little shopping trip to Next and the jeans that someone posted a link to a few days ago are soooo comfy! i now know what i'm wearing for the next 5mths!!
and for £20 they're a bargain! don't bother giong to Next if you want a nice top...why is it assumed that pregnant ladies all want to look like beach tents!
Maternity tops are so easy to make but why do they chose such awful fabrics!

Shazza, sorry for delay in replying to you. Yes, that is something I can do. I should probably take advertising discussions away from MN so feel free to email me (same goes to anyone else who's interested in ordering a top or special outfit) at
m i a m l a @ h o t m a i l . c o m
I'm very cheap especially if you just want a simple jersey top that's long enough to go over your bump!

alittlebitshy · 06/03/2008 20:11

if anyone is going to a next that does those jeans in short length, or is placing an online order (I don;t have an account and would be dangerous with one!) would they order me a pair and i'll obv pay for postage etc (and the jeans lol)????????????
I'd want a 14 short......

CaptainCaveman · 06/03/2008 20:41

ALBS am about to order some myself - what colour are you after? best jeans ever?
You can send me a cheque if you like? CAT me or I can post my yahoo email addy on here - let me know?

Really sorry about your parents dog libbysister, how very . We're still missing Malley cat and ds keeps asking when God will give him the kiss of life . Hugs to you and your family, and rest in peace little spaniel.

LadyOfWaffle · 06/03/2008 20:46

Evening all! Sorry about your parents dog libbysister {{hugs}} I am so getting a glider this time round, not a swanky dutailer though can't justify £400+ on it... (well, DH can't!) I have felt really awful today, really dizzy and faint. Good job DH was off to look after DS alot more so I could get a nap at 4ish. I think I may be aneamic (can't spell) again - I am so so pale with black panda eyes and I just feel so drained. I can't think what would be good iron rich food to eat... steak obviously, but I can't seem to stomach it very well again yet (was my favourite food!). After DS was born I drank a can of guinness most days, but I don't want to do that whilst pregnant - BFing is a little different. Just need something I can snack on... I am currently munching on raw carrots - there is an untouched vienetta in the freezer and I opted for carrots! - how odd pregnancy is!

LadyOfWaffle · 06/03/2008 20:49

oooooh wow, waistband! Those jeans look ace. Might need some in a month or so - still same size, the bump seems to be growing inwards into all that lovely space Dying for an excuse to get some more new clothes!

CaptainCaveman · 06/03/2008 20:50

awwww LOW, sorry you are feeling so knackered, maybe you are anaemic - have you had your bloods taken? How about eating some spinach as thats full of iron (but maybe not so much that you end up like Popeye!).

I've managed to demolish a tesco lemon cheesecake since sunday.....a slice a day and I've enjoyed every morsel.

LadyOfWaffle · 06/03/2008 20:57

yeah I did, but didn't get results - maybe I need to ring for them? It was about a month ago now though... I was aneamic while pregnant with DS but for some reason they didn't tell me, it was only when I went in for monitoring one day they asked how many iron tablets I was on - I said "eh?" and they said "yeah, your bloods show you have a low iron level" !?! I lost alot of blood during the birth aswell, was supposed to have a blood transfusion but didn't want it and it kinda feels alittle bit the same - you feel very distant, very odd. We have psinach in the freezer actually, but I can only eat it mixed in with mash - so will have some tomorrow night

poppysocks · 06/03/2008 21:09

I have a history of anaemia too. Was pretty bad most of the way through my teens and early twenties and then came back when I was pg with DD. Like you LoW, they all thought someone else had told me that I needed iron tablets and it was only when it got really bad that they I was let in on it!

I'm certainly v. pale and have the panda eyes too. Also shattered. None of those are particularly pregnancy specific though (which leads me to think that I may be anaemic more of the time than I think). This time I'm taking pregnacare and plan to all the way through so hope that will help. Think I'll be a bit more assertive though in getting tested - and getting the results this time!

So sorry to hear about your parents' dog, Libbysister.

dizzydixies · 06/03/2008 21:27

girls a lovely lady on the 'chat' thread has just informed me (without any prompting from me) that she has a box of krispy kreams in her house

[howl][sob][howl][sod]

do you think this is a good enough reason to put house in the market and up roots whole family to london and buy a garden shed to live in?!!?

CC - very proud of your lemon cheesecake achievements - I make a mean double white chocolate cheesecake for dh - reason why he married me I think!!

TS how is the name hunting going? tempted fate a little and bought a babynames book today

dizzydixies · 06/03/2008 22:06

TS am a bit confused by spencer/berkley/blakly/sawyer/presley and sloane

I know the US have very different ideas for names then the Uk but to me they are very much surnames

I do however love Ella (obviously - very pretty and lovely meaning) Emory Kate,Alexandria and Lauren

do you mind me asking what your dd1 is called?

TwilightSurfer · 06/03/2008 22:14

Dizzy, you are very right most of those names are surnames but sounded good to me. It really doesn't matter has DH has just replied to me via email saying he doesn't care for most of the names on today's list. Ella, Emory Kate, and Lauren Blakely are his picks today. Emory Kate was going to be DD. I called her that almost the entire pregnancy but DH wasn't fond of it. We mutually decided on Kinsley Grayson for her instead(.... yet another surname.) I have a feeling I will be searching for the perfect name for MONTHS.

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 06/03/2008 22:19

lol so we're looking for something to go with Kinsley - will get my thinking cap on! DH and I have very differing tastes in names too although he announces today, in book shop, that the name I was desperate for dd2 and he hated has now grown on him - sod [humph]

I think I'm wary of surnames for first names as our actual surname is very much a first name here in scotland so nobody would know which way round it was meant to be

TwilightSurfer · 06/03/2008 22:27

With all the names available in the world you'd think naming one little girl would be a little easier.

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 06/03/2008 22:30

REPOSTING Message removed below WITHOUT my real last name. I'm a little weary of too much information.

Okay I've copied over my working name list. Please feel free to comment without worry of upsetting me. These are all names I might be willing to call a girl. I included initials so to double check myself for "bad" things IYKWIM.

no, I think thats the problem too much choice! We had 2 boys and 2 girls names picked for dd1 and when she was born dh looked at her and decided, I was thrilled as it was my favourite. dd2 had 4 days of no name when we settled on one, we love it now but it wasn't either of our favourites. I found it more difficult second time as it had to go with dd1's name as well as our surname

TwilightSurfer · 06/03/2008 22:35

I haven't really thought about how this baby's name would go with DD's name. Yet another item to address. I just want to come up with something so DD can begin to bond. When I came up with Owen she finally got on board with having a little brother. Now it's a girl....without a name so she doesn't want it. ARGH!!! I just can't imagine having the baby and not having a name for days. That would drive me insane.
