agree Sazzles, have done it both ways and wouldn't recommend either but hey ho - here I am again

libbyssister · 05/03/2008 23:17

There's so much negative chatter about CSs that the physical/medical reasons get forgotten about, Sazzles. It bugs me when people who have CS are labelled too posh to push without knowing any of their history. For so many people they don't have a choice.

libbyssister · 05/03/2008 23:18

And even when they do have a choice, so what?

Laptop battery about to die... and I need sleep! Night ladies.

dizzydixies · 05/03/2008 23:23

had a VB first time, long and unpleasant. went for VB again, ended up with EMCS after 29hr labour so goodness knows about this one. I always have the romantic notion that I'kk have a swift fart/sneeze and 45minutes shiney happy baby - probably not but nice to dream lol

your concerns are valid Sazzles but because my dd2 was the EMCS I don't have any answers yet, am due before you so will let you know lol

Libby thanks for thinking of me. Not at all bothered by self-induced dry spell honestly. I think it has the most wonderful effect on me post-natally.

Very well done Captain!! {{APPLAUSE}}

I am still dealing with comfort issues as this little one has poked me all day long. In my quest for the perfect little girl name I ran across this site which I thought I share with all of you.

LadyOfWaffle · 06/03/2008 01:29

ooo, I can't catch up. Got distracted by google earth (very nosey!) and I am going all cross eyed. All I can make out is dizzy had SEX, the rest has not stuck in my pregnancy brain. DH still not back from work, might ring him in a bit as he was due home 12 (ish), doubt he will answer though as will prob. be driving. Wow, i's like trying to type drunk when you are tired! My brain feels drunk Off to google earth abit more, try and think of more places to nose at I'll be back sometime later hopefully with a fuctioning brain. We shall have to start planning our hospital bags Oooooooh, I am getting all excited. Erm, yeah... nighty night!

LadyOfWaffle · 06/03/2008 01:35

Sazzles - don't feel you 'have to try' a VB if you are not comfortable with it... I can't really think what I mean or explain it very well at this hour, but don't feel you have to conform (?) to the 'ideal birth'... better way of explaining it I guess is I am debating whether to go straight for epidural, or try and make myself go through a 'real' 'proper' labour first... no good reason for it in that case, it's just because you sort of feel pressured to do it under your own steam as much as possible as not to be a 'failure'. Does that make any sense? Obv. your MW/doctor will advise you in your own personal circumstances what they feel is right for you, but definatly don't make yourself suffer for no good reason just to be able to say 'woop, I gave birth "properly"'. I mean yes CS carry their risks etc., but IMO the biggest risk is if you spend months worrying when you do not need to. Need to read better your 'story', no idea if I am even on the right wavelength here! x

Buckets · 06/03/2008 08:18

Hi Sazzles, I'm probably having an elective this time too, although at 40wks so will try a VBAC if baby comes early. You'll be seeing your consultant soon I guess so make sure you write down everything you are worried about and don't let him give you any sh*t. If s/he refuses to let you have a CSec (some are arseholes) you can always ask to be referred to another conslt. The main thing to consider is how many kids you are likely to want because the more CS you have, the more risky it gets so if you want more than 3 kids, best to try a VBAC.

IlanaK · 06/03/2008 08:19

Just catching up. I had 2 cs. First was an emergency after a planned home water birth! Baby failed to appear so ended up being inducded at 42 weeks and typical failure to progress story. Second was a planned cs. Now will be onto my third cs. If anyone has any questions about having a cs, I can probably answer them!

My excitment of the day is going to mothercare to sit on a dutailier glider chair later. Dh has agreed to me getting one to replace our uncomfotable living room arm chair. Probably should have got one two babies ago, but never mind!

morning all! am only on checking ebay as was bidding on mini-a-ture dress for dd1 and got it for £10.16 inc posting!!! wouldn't normally dress her other than tesco/asda but it was too sweet to pass up

TS thats a great site, have spent too much time on it before!! don't see how you can top Ella but am biased!!!

IlanaK am very have always wanted a proper chair to put in nursery (read box room) for feeding but am afraid finances won't stretch - will need to sort something though as no doubt having another whopper AND the norks have seen better days!!

LoW google earth is fab isn't it but I know what you mean about losing your eyesite on it!!!! managed to have sex yesterday (yeah me and dh) so was feeling rather smug about it, none since but think after 8wk drought twice in 24hrs might be pushing it lol

who on earth mentioned hospital bags?!?!?! Are we seriously there?!?! with dd1 I was going in to be induced on the Sun at 4pm and when dh told me it was time to go I replied with 'better go and pack my bag then!!' think I was in denial to be honest - not sure where I thought I was going was a little bit more organised with dd2 but not completely finished, I think its nice and gives you something to do in early stages of labour

anyone got their TENS booked?

PMSL @ Sazzles for the sensible and less preachy!!!!! we had about 20pages dedicated to krispy kreame donuts FFS - not exactly perfect learning for first timers but we enjoyed it!!!!

sorry for posting massive post, and twice at that lol

IlanaK · 06/03/2008 08:56

dizzy - I am not putting this chair in the "nursey". It is going in our living room as my main armchair! I think when you get to your third baby, life is way to busy to go sit in a nursery to feed the little one. And, to be honest, I am not getting it primarily as a feeding chair. I plan to co-sleep and this is the third baby I will breastfeed so I can pretty much feed anywhere - I just think it is such a comfy chair and having another baby is a great excuse to get one!

dizzydixies · 06/03/2008 08:58

am off to point all this out to DH!!!

Morning gals. Couldnt' get on internet at home this morning so have snuck on whilst at work (shhhhh!!).

Hope all are ok? Bump seems to have shot out of nowhere last couple of days, so no more hockey playing for me til September. MUST do some exercise though, my thighs are starting to chaffe together!

hmmmmmm.......donuts..........still a KK virgin here

dizzydixies · 06/03/2008 09:37

CC get yourself powerwalking or swimming, the heavier you get the more wonderful the swimming is - says DD from her lardy arsed feet up couch position

less than one wk till next scan so here's hoping!

libbyssister · 06/03/2008 11:16

Morning!

I have promised myself one of those gliding chairs for my retirement Can't afford/haven't got space for one now but when I hit 65 I'm plonking one in my front room and will spend hours staring at people from it They are SOOO comfy.

Have already shamed myself at work today by crying in the office My Dad rang me to tell me that their dog died this morning She was a darling dog, a real bouncy springer spaniel, but I was more upset that my Dad, and then my Mum were on the phone all crying and upset and that set me off...

[sigh] dear oh dear. Time for a cuppa methinks.

dizzydixies · 06/03/2008 11:18

oh libby, poor you

libbyssister · 06/03/2008 11:23

Oh it's OK, just hate hearing my Dad cry, something unnerving about that.
