VG how did you cope without those impecably chosen garments, you're just right to have bought them!!

hazie am off till 3rd April but signed myself back from sick yesterday and now on annual leave, because I work job share on shifts I can take 4 days off and have a run of 2wks off so thats what I've done to get me nearer to 24wk stage

VintageGardenia · 20/03/2008 20:12

Ooo filou TWO Isabella Olivers I don't even have to go to Calculator to work out how much they cost!! But I am with you - my last preg I looked like a lumpen cottage loaf wrapped in a man's t-shirt and I just want to retain a bit of femininity and elegance this time round. I feel if I let it slip during the preg I'll find it harder not to let it all go dribbling out the door after the actual birth. So I have jeans, capri pants, a couple of tops (and MiaMia will be on the case for another when I find my tapemeasure) and a dress.

dizzy what words of wisdom you speak! I feel so ... affirmed.

dizzychixies · 20/03/2008 20:15

VG - always here to help lol the stuff from attesa is lovely is it a shop near you or do they sell it online too - would love something like that for wedding rather than the pap I keep finding.

VintageGardenia · 20/03/2008 20:23

No it was a maternity boutique I happened to walk past and ducked in. The stuff was quite expensive but oh the bliss of seeing (and touching!) such lovely preg things. Dresses, tops with sort of twisty things at the bust, jeans, loads of worky, party, homey things. It was called Nelo, I'd never noticed it before, though you don't when you're not pregnant.

The funniest thing about the shop was when you went into the changing rooms there were prosthetic bumps hanging up! So you strap on one with a bit of velcro round the waist (as was) and then you can put the clothes on on top and see what they will look like in 5 months' time. I nearly fainted at the size of it. MOST interesting but v. useful for buying the clothes.

dizzychixies · 20/03/2008 20:25

PMSL - I want one of those for dh to wear as long as they're realistic in weight too!!!

if its a boutique I doubt they'll go up to my lardy proportions though

dizzychixies · 20/03/2008 20:28

vg look at that, I would love something like this for the wedding
this

VintageGardenia · 20/03/2008 20:28

Listen I'm not exactly slender as a willow wand! I'm probably a 16 on top at this stage and bought my top in Medium. Then the trousers were small-fitting so I bought an L where normally I'm a 14 in the arse. They do XL and some XXL but a lot of the dresses and tops are in a gorgeous thick, heavy, silky jersey which always allows more leeway.

VintageGardenia · 20/03/2008 20:29

That only links to the homepage.

dizzychixies · 20/03/2008 20:31

ah sod sorry - in the tops section, very last top, colbalt blue top with white detailing, v neck and would look lovely with white linen trousers but could also be worn after wedding with jeans. they do the same in a dress too but am more of a top and trousers gal myself!

VintageGardenia · 20/03/2008 20:44

That's gorgeous! And you could get some fab cobalt sandals the height of the Eiffel Tower (when is wedding?) and some lovely wide-legged trousers. Why not email them for details of the sizing? They were really nice in there.

dizzychixies · 20/03/2008 20:46

wedding in may, on the 10th. My friend now works in dublin so could get her to pop in, she pretty much knows what suits me and what would fit lol

VintageGardenia · 20/03/2008 20:50

Well if you're interested I can do any legwork you need. You have only to wave your wand .

dizzychixies · 20/03/2008 20:53

oh VG your such a star - don't be nice to me today, I already cried at the end of Springtime with Roo and feel the hormones are out of control today

CaptainCaveman · 20/03/2008 20:55

There's you talking of fancy clothes and I'm sat here dressed like a tramp. Glad it's not on camera as I look a bit rough and shocking .

Had some good kicks from baby cavey today, a great big kick in the bum last night

Hope you are all well and enjoying the 'delightful' weather? We're supposed to be going to Cleethorpes on saturday for a friend's 40th - if the snow doesn't stop us!!

VintageGardenia · 20/03/2008 20:59

Well dd mop up, you do know tears stain a new silk top, doncha? Serious offer, though, so let me know.

Oh don't be deceived Cap'n - new threads languish untouched in their carrier bag while I loll sluttishly in dressing gown with my dachshund across my feet to keep warm!

Where is Cleethorpes? Geog lesson pls.

dizzychixies · 20/03/2008 21:01

CC if it was on camera I so wouldn't be here lol am in bright pink jammie bottoms and a £7 cardi reduced in tesco as nobody else in their right mind would buy it!!

thanks VG

CaptainCaveman · 20/03/2008 21:01

East coast of England - near Skegness, Mablethorpe etc. Static caravan central. Have to point out, friends don't actually live in, nor close to, a caravan park. It's about 1hr 45 mins from Nottingham - or 6 hours on a bank holiday

PetitFilou1 · 20/03/2008 21:05

Dizzy That top is lovely - you have to check it out.
VS I wondered where you could get nice things which actually have a print on them instead of being completely plain... Haven't got any money left though. But there is always my 36th birthday in May ... hmmm...

CC I'm wearing my dh's giant very old surfing fleece - so I'm not exactly looking chic either

TwilightSurfer · 20/03/2008 21:05

Sorry about the weather. I never meant for it to bother you when I asked it to GO AWAY. I'll refrain from saying what the weather is like here at this very moment.

OP posts:
VintageGardenia · 20/03/2008 21:05

LOL but a 40th would be fun. Weather here has been nice actually, no snow n stuff.

I am longing for a smoked salmon and cucumber sandwich, can preg have sm. sal? If so will potter off to make one.

dizzychixies · 20/03/2008 21:07

TS we're actually having a heatwave here in the north of scotland, we're infamous for our lovely hot sunny weather lol

petit it IS nice isn't it, nice price tag too - wonder if VG will indulge in a wee up the bump shop lifting trip for me?!?

VintageGardenia · 20/03/2008 21:07

LOL at all of us in our rotton old clothes eyeing up the style on the web! My hair is currently held up by a pencil (think Japanese stick style but w/out the chic) and my eyes are red-rimmed from my contacts. I am vile!

CaptainCaveman · 20/03/2008 21:08

Ah good, I'm in similarly classy company. I am wearing some old baggy sweat pants and a casual cotton top (am I making it sound glam, coz glam it ain't!). Hair looks like someone set a firework off on it and make up done by Homer's make-up gun .

Once again, I'm knackered and it's only just gone 9pm.

Hello TS, seems odd to think you are thousands of miles away!

VintageGardenia · 20/03/2008 21:08

DD I have no intention of weeing up your bump.

What bizarre practice is this????

PetitFilou1 · 20/03/2008 21:09

VS I don't think you're meant to. But you know, the likelihood is you'd be fine. I ate unpasteurised cheese and drank wine for the first five months of my pregnancy with ds (long story as was told had miscarried but hadn't) and he turned out ok!
