Dunno how many miles - it went for scrap a few months ago. DH reckons he's a real wheeler-dealer as he made a profit on it. He bought it for £25 for parts (he already had a shite Volvo but obv 2 is so much better) and realised it was better than the one he already had. So he scrapped the first one and drove the second one into the ground. Eventually the scrap people gave him £50 for it

Now sure if physio would help or not - I'll ask the MW. My stomach muscles are really damaged and my bump is all at the front - like a snake who swallowed a hippo - and drops very low at the end (of the pregnancy, not the bump ).

Lulumama · 28/02/2008 19:02

Rolf, am waiting to get details on the IM i mentioned, she does not do email, so am trying to get her phone number for you x

debinaustria · 28/02/2008 19:28

I read on MN that to remember to do your pelvic floor exercises you should do some whenever you see a red light - traffic light, remote control, TV, kettle etc etc... It does help, I have done more but still not enough.

tassisssss · 28/02/2008 19:36

Hi all!

I've not said hello since I was about 12 weeks but have been lurking a bit and thought it was time to make myself know.

I can't believe this thread contains the words "the home stretch"! as it feels like we've still got forever to go!

I'm 25 weeks with no 3. Ds is 5 in April and dd is 18 months.

I'm busy looking at double buggies. Anyone else in same boat? Thinking we'll go for a 2nd hand nipper but wondering if I should just not bother and make do with a hand on double maclaren. Dd is pretty good at walking.

Sorry to hear people are stuggling with SPD type issues. I had this with 2nd preg but it's not as bad this time (remarkably as I'm lugging dd round a fair bit of the time!).

ernest · 28/02/2008 20:13

Q, when does "2nd trimester" officially start? Is it boring old 26 weeks or something magical like 24? Sad little me.

Mind you, dunno why I'm in a hurry. just over 13 weeks to go. That's scary and mad. shit. maybe I could apply for an extension?

deb, you get my mail?

Magic '24' weeks tomorrow.

Rolf · 28/02/2008 21:13

tassissss - I had a double nipper (I think that's what it is) when my boys were little, and I really liked it. I don't think it's suitable for newborns though.

Lulu - thank you . I realised this evening how essential it is that I arrange something, when DH began talking excitedly about a 5-day trial booked for the middle of June and took a worryingly long time to realise why I was raising an eyebrow

systemsaddict · 28/02/2008 21:24

Glad others' bumps are big too - people are starting to ask me if anything has started to happen yet!!! er no I have 3 months to go!! And I'm sure I'm not much bigger than I was last time ... think people just aren't used to pregnant women.

Upset today because SPD has properly hit, have had 2 days with ds and not exactly overdone it - a couple of trips to the park (5 mins walk), one music group, one stroll into town for some essentials. It took me half an hour to get back from the park and I couldn't get around the house this evening. I saw a friend in town who had twins 3 weeks ago and she was walking better than I was, even with twins and toddler!

I can't face poor ds having 3 months of being stuck at home on days he's not at nursery, he's only 18 months old, he needs to be out doing things. He's already had a crap 2 months where I was too sick to do much, we're still dealing with the CBeebies addiction which resulted from that. Seeing midwife tomorrow to get physio referral.

ernest a family in the park with newborn and toddler had a Phil & Teds Sport - it looked like just what we needed and the mum thought it was brilliant. Do I remember rightly that you have a phil & teds, if so can I ask what you think? It looked just what we need, if we have to go for a double, just about small enough to fit in the house.

ernest · 28/02/2008 21:51

hi sa, I do have a P&T but it's not a sport, it's oooolllllllddddddddd - got it when pg with ds2, and he's now 7! And tbh I think my older model is better than the sport - hasn't got as many 'features' but seems a lot sturdier, roomier, well, I look at the new ones and prefer my old one. Amazingly as have got pushchair addiction tendancies . I saw the old one that I have (called kiwi explorer) for only £30 or so on e bay!

Still, if looking at the new sport, can't comment in detail, as never used, but the general idea of the P&T, I love my pushchair. It's the best one I've had. I still use it with the doubles kit, cos the bottom bunk is just so useful for 'stuff'. It's light, easy to push one handed, even with 2 toddlers in, and much much better (imo & e) than side-by-side.

They are releasing and all singing all dancing new model next month btw called the Vibe, which, afaik can fold even with doubles kit on, is supere dooper lightweight etc etc. but mega £

see here

and Q&A about it here

thegreenfairy · 28/02/2008 22:42

Evening all
Back from my jaunt to London. What can I say? FAB. Got loads of great baby things (although I was a bit at the prices in the big Mamas and Papas).
Got a lovely knitted blanket from there courtesy of generous mum, and lots of stuff from here - older clothes, organic towels and muslins, eco-friendly disposables for the first few days, a couple of cute toys, this and a lovely dress from Zara - not a maternity dress, but it fits now and is pleated rather than stretchy so will work afterwards as well. Even front opening for BF!
Phew! Also went to Selfridges food hall (don't ask), had lunch in the roof cafe at Peter Jones (more mums with Bugaboos than I've ever seen...) and got Krispy Kreme donuts at Paddington (I had two).
Now TOTALLY knackered, but hey, one day and it's the weekend!
Oh, and talking of Bugaboos, we were looking at the Bugaboos in Peter Jones and my very non-maternal aunt took one look at the Bugaboo Bee and said 'that's tiny - it looks like some kind of head-clamping device' .

debinaustria · 29/02/2008 06:27

Greenfairy - sounds like you had a lovely day, you lucky girl!!

My Mum's getting very excited - you'd think it was the 1st grandchild not the 3rd, maybe it's because she never expected another? Anyway I've told her about Debbie Bliss( I don't knit) and she's already got some Cashmerino wool, she's been sourcing maternity clothes for me and stalking any one with a 3 wheeler pushchair!!! I sometimes worry that it's hereditary

libralady · 29/02/2008 06:28

Does anyone have the 4am wee break as well? Luckily I can get back to sleep but then my alarm goes off at 5.30 so I can get up for work.
Doesn't matter if I have a drink through the evening or not!
Oh well last day until the weekend.
Are any of you unmarried ladies planning on proposing today? It's the traditional day for it isn't it?
Although I will feel sorry for any babbas born today. Imagine only having a proper birthday only once every four years!
St David's Day tomorrow so will try and make an effort to celebrate in some shape or form.
Catch you later. Off to work now.
Oh and does anyone else have leaky boobs yet? I'm only 22+3 and I definately have something already!

makecakesnotwar · 29/02/2008 07:49

27 weeks- amazes me that I made it this far....

SA- even my own mother (who is over for a week)has been asking if there are two in there...not very reasuring. So sorry SPD is getting worse. I've been running around (figuratively) doing things with mum and have started suffering more, so will get slapped wrist from physio, but have the luxury of no other children to look after. Thinking of you...and sending virtual nanny to help!!!!

GF- sounds like you had a fab time. Very envious!

Ernest- think I am in love with new P&T...just need a second child...

Libralady- always around 4am...by the time I get back from the loo the baby has woken and I spent about 1/2 waiiting for her to calm down so that I can go back to sleep!

Is anyone else seemingly always thirsty (please god don't let it be gestational diabetes...)...and am I the only one with 'dry' (ie chapped) nipples I know- I ask all the personal questions!

OP posts:
debinaustria · 29/02/2008 08:06

26 weeks for me today!

I have the wee wake up call at 5 normally but last night I was shattered, went to bed at 10.00 and didn't wake up until the alarm clock - bliss - so why do I still feel tired?

I read that you can massage olive oil into dry nipples - Makecakes

My boobs aren't leaky or dry, just sensitive - still!

systemsaddict · 29/02/2008 08:26

Ernest, thanks for info. P&T definitely looks the one for us - will need to double-check dimensions first - now just need to decide which model! The Vibe looks amazing and perfect, but we'd have to live on bread and water till she's born. £30 off ebay for the other one sounds good :-)

With you all on the 4am wee breaks, but lovely to feel baby wake up same time kicking v. actively this morning - first time I've felt her from outside too (anterior placenta has cushioned it till now) so was quite happy being awake!!

aberdeenhiker · 29/02/2008 08:29

ernest - I think the 3rd trimester starts at 27 weeks (6 days to go for me!).

If I go overdue I'm going to go bonkers - DS was two weeks early and no matter how hard I try, I'm still finding myself counting down to 38 weeks instead of 40+!

We're going to buy the Phil&Ted's sport. The vibe doesn't sound better for the increased cost and I do a lot of walking. That being said, we're having trouble with the neighbours (rented out and there's now five non-related adults living in a 1-bathroom house plus they're expecting a baby too) and I'm so tempted to move out of town - and then I'd drive everywhere.

I'm up at 4:30 for the pee break each morning, but last night was good as that was the only time I was up!

bitofadramaqueen · 29/02/2008 08:38

Morning all, sympathy with all on the pee breaks... I've started waking up 2 or 3 times a night - dont need to go to the loo though . Needless to say, I've been knackered at work all week! Roll on the weekend!!!

ktpie · 29/02/2008 09:18

Morning everyone, when I woke up yesterday morning I realised that I hadn't woken up in the night for a pee for the first time in ages and felt ridiculously pleased with myself (knew you lot would understand even if no one else does) but last night I was up again so must have been a one off (think I need to get out more or something!).

PiggyPenguin · 29/02/2008 09:43

Hi all, I'm having the 4.00 wee break too but find it really difficult to go back to sleep afterwards which is a pain.

I have suddenly had a growth spurt and have grown out of my coat, which is really annoying as it is really warm. Is everyone else suddenly finding themselves huge too?

ernest · 29/02/2008 09:58

had a rare night where I didn't wake up was great.

Am feeling huge. SOcks are starting to get a challenge!Goodness knows how I'll ,anage in a couple of months. Either beg ds to put 'em on for m, or pary for v. warm weather and do without.

debinaustria · 29/02/2008 09:59

Yes sybil, I am - I was cleaning this morning and our apartments have way too many full length mirrors - what a sight!!

thegreenfairy · 29/02/2008 10:09

Morning all.
Debs - that Debbie Bliss cashmerino wool is gorgeous (am an avid knitter - going to stitch and bitch with MIL tomorrow!).

As for the 4am wee breaks, I find if I do a bit of swimming or a lot of walking during the day then I sleep right through, as long as I have a pee the second before I get into bed. Often wake up bursting at 7am, but at least I don't wake in the night. But if I do wake up, I just don't turn the lights on - seems to be less 'wakening' and I normally get back to sleep straight away.

Am so sorry for those of you suffering from SPD. I spent the night before last in London at a friend's flat on a very hard futon and my left hip was not good the next day, or this morning. Seems to stop aching fairly quickly, but it's deffo something I need to keep an eye on...

Think we may buy the buggy in about a month - should allow a bit more time to try to find the Quinny and the Britax in the flesh to give them a proper once over.

ktpie · 29/02/2008 10:16

sybil - my coat is a bit tight now if I do it up but don't really want to get another winter coat at this time of the year! Think I will look out for a jacket instead and probably freeze!

mellymell · 29/02/2008 10:34

Morning all.

someone asked me if I was having twins yesterday - so embarrassing to just say 'no, just the one'.

Just hope that this one is on time becauase DS1 was 2.5 weeks late and I still had to be induced. Silly bugger could see the exit but was damned if he was coming out.

I'm looking for a P&T buggy too, but am definitely going second hand, although even a used one tends to go for £250 - it's horrendous. BTW the mumsnet review section on buggies is really good.

Off to see the PIL this weekend which means I will have to spend the first hour of the 'holiday' on my hands and knees with a bucket of bleach to make our room and the DS' room habitable. They're artists and just don't see dirt - quite disgusting.

Jood · 29/02/2008 11:07

Morning.

I keep getting the 'Can't be long now' comments. I say no, not long, just 3 months. They look embarrassed and then avoid me.

You all sound very organised with the buying stuff. I have so far bought.... a bag of cotton wool. Oh, and I ordered some nappies yesterday. Am I being hopelessly optimistic that I can just use everything I had last time? DD is buggy free, walks everywhere, might get a buggy board?

sophiewd · 29/02/2008 11:09

kiddicare.com had a good offer on P&T the other day, brand new, doubles kit plus travel cot/playpen
