Nettiehay - can't believe your in-laws' insensitivity. Skiiing!! I think they probably have done it so they get your DH to himself. Pathetic. If it was my DH I'd tell him he wasn't going either .

We are hopefully going to get away to north Wales in April after I start mat leave, camping in a trailer tent. We love camping. I just hope the weather is OK and I don't feel too fat to enjoy it! Will spend the week reading my natural childbirth books. I have bought Lamaze and Grantly Dick-Read.

sophiewd · 04/03/2008 15:12

Its that time of year again, I am sitting at my kitchen table, window about 5ft away and a couple of feet beyond that is a sheep straing at me, bleating away not long til she lambs (we have the sheep in our backyard from now until end April very frustrating as not allowed near them this year)

ktpie · 04/03/2008 15:38

Glad it's not just me out of breath. Feel like a physical wreck every time I go upstairs.

Debs - hope you find out about the hairdresser and manage to get a nap!

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 04/03/2008 15:48

Sophie, that sounds wonderful! Where do you live? I assume the sheep are something to do with you rather than just random sheep that come in your garden

makecakesnotwar · 04/03/2008 15:55

I get out of breath just thinking about doing something! The dog can't understand how it's possible for me to walk so slowly.

Good news with mw- urine came back clean so no threat of glucose tolerance test...yet. SAdly she had run out of the colour-coded vials they need to take my blood so I have to make a special trip to the (get this) delivery suite on Saturday to have them done then...only when results are back will I be free of gestational diabetes. Hurrah! Oh bp and heartbeat all good. CJ 'vaguely' head down though not yet engaged...whatever that means. Not sure I want her enagaged just yet. MW did say that they will see how I go with SPD because if it gets really bad I may want to consider an early induction (secretly am pleased as my mum is arriving at 39 weeks and if they let me go to 42, I may be ready to kill her...)

Ok ladies - question. How many of you have an 'inny' belly button and dread it popping out? Also, have any of you had it pop out and not pop in again after previous children? I don't know why but this is quite high on my worry list at the moment. I really like my 'inny' and have always worried about 'outies'!

claphamkitten · 04/03/2008 17:03

Nettiehay - I have the same fear! I have always had a very neat 'innie' - just a smooth dip really, but it is now almost flat!!! Really hope it doesn't pop out, and that, if it does, it doesn't stay like that!

dylansmumplusone · 04/03/2008 17:15

i have a very inny inny and it didn't pop out with ds, and this time again it's not quite flat yet. i do know several woman that it did pop out and it always goes back in as far as i know!

okay i have suddenly got the worst heartburn ever and have no gaviscon and no way to get any. natural remedies... please???

ernest · 04/03/2008 17:16

Mine has popped out, just the last week. But it's always popped back in. Never thought it wouldn't tbh. you've got me worried mildly curious now.

debinaustria · 04/03/2008 17:46

Dylansmum - celery apparently

Rolf · 04/03/2008 17:48

My belly button will make all your fears become real . I will leave it to your imaginations, which will not come even close to the dreadful reality

I am quite breathless, too, although not throughout the day. I can be breathless for a while and then later on go out and walk for a mile and feel great. I'm taking spatone to try and keep my iron levels up, as last time I got quite anaemic and that made me very breathless.

I've been trying to find hypnobirthing lessons and finding it quite difficult. The first teacher I contacted wasn't able to travel to my house. The second one was, but needed to increase the price quite significantly to cover travel time. It takes 4 3- hour sessions and I know I will have trouble getting DH to come to classes at home. There is no way he'd travel an hour each direction to do it. It would need to be during the day otherwise we'd be looking at childcare for the witching hours of supper/homework/bath/bed. So it would mean DH taking 4 days off work which I don't think I can expect him to do.

some friends are having a baby around the same time as us - I wonder if they'd be willing to join in and split the cost...

goingfor3 · 04/03/2008 18:16

My belly button is very inny but is started to get less so, it didn't pop out with the others but my belly has had a huge growth explosion, which I was expected as the baby had been quiet so was growing massively, that I wouldn't be suprised if it pops out this time. I tried measuring my fundal height on saturday and it was 29 and I did it today and it was 34!! I am sure I am doing it wrong.

I am more concerned about the stretchmark I found next to one of my boobs yesterday especially as it's multipled and today there are 2 . I had loads of stretchmarks on my bump but never on my boobs!

DLM, Peppermint tea is good for heartburn. I drank it with DD1 and it really helped to relieve my heartburn.

goingfor3 · 04/03/2008 18:19

Forgot to add for the last two or so hours baby has really been burrowing her head in my pelvis! I have to keep sitting up straigh so I don't feel like I'm squashing her. Feels like she's making a bid for freedom!

PiggyPenguin · 04/03/2008 19:14

Umm, before my kids I had the best belly button, it was a really nice innie. I'm not going to scare you with how much its changed, lets just say that having stretch marks all around it has done nothing for the shape. I do mourn it....

Still, the kids are worth it and at least I know the damage is done so I'm not so bothered this time around. I remember being worried about lots of stuff the first time, particularly (sorry if tmi) pooing during labour. I can honestly say though, that after 30 hours of labour I really didn't care if I did or not!

bitofadramaqueen · 04/03/2008 19:30

my innie isn't as 'in' as it used to be so I've been checking it's progress daily. It's still 'in' a bit though so fingers crossed....

No stretchmarks as yet, I got them in my teens though so prepared for the worst...

30 hours of labour . Someone told me that how long your mother was in labour for is a good indication - she said I took 36 hours [faint emoticon].

Upsidedowncake · 04/03/2008 19:48

Once a week, for the last few weeks, I've had to go to meetings first thing in the morning on the fourth floor of a warehouse / loft-style building WITH NO LIFT.

45 minutes standing up on the tube, then four flights of stairs - I arrive panting so much that 'breathless' doesn't even begin to cover it.

And I used to be quite fit too!

Am organising meetings with doulas. Lots of ladies on mumsnet have been really helpful suggesting people. It's so lovely.

Rolf · 04/03/2008 19:54

I've just spoken to a lovely-sounding doula who I'm going to interview next week

Rolf · 04/03/2008 19:55

Upsidedowncake - cross posted - how spooky!

systemsaddict · 04/03/2008 19:57

makecakes I am v. impressed you are managing to walk the dog with SPD! I am avoiding as much walking as possible and am rather of all the lovely holiday plans people have got - I will be doing well if we can still manage the odd trip into town!! Still it's only for a few weeks really ...

Mine was an innie and stayed that way, though it got flatter and 'looser' towards the end. Hoping same happens this time, can't imagine it popped out!

Dramaqueen, my mum was 6 hours in labour with me and about 2 hours with my brother. I had 31 hours of contractions ... but was induced so situation was a bit different!

Upsidedowncake · 04/03/2008 19:57

How funny! Let me know how it goes.

The one I spoke to was lovely but seemed a little bossy, but maybe will be fine in person, or maybe it's me being sensitive.

Got to get head out of sand!

ernest · 04/03/2008 20:53

dlm, glass of milk for hb

ladyhump · 04/03/2008 20:59

Hiya ladies. I'm new to this website. Due 20th June with a girl. It's my first and can't wait!

ernest · 04/03/2008 21:06

hello lh & welcome. I'm also due on 20th, but will have c-section on 6th. It's going way too quick for me. As it's your 1st, I guess you've got a lovely neat little bump, as opposed to being a big fat whale? Can you still put your socks on?

bitofadramaqueen · 04/03/2008 21:39

hey ernest - no-one told me I was supposed to have a first-timer neat little bump .

Have come to realise that my bump looks better in fairly fitted tops - however, all the maternity tops I seem to try on are quite tent like. Sigh. Desperately need new tops for work and ideally would like to get stuff that will see me through till May but everything I think will last till then just makes me look like a whale just now.

Welcome lh! How are you getting on with your pregnancy?

systemaddict - maybe it's an exact opposite thing, and I'm going to have a Violet-in-coronation street type labour and give birth in 5 minutes .

ernest · 04/03/2008 21:50

dq, that makes me feel better, I never had a neat 1st timer bump either just jealous cos everyone else seems to I was as big as a bus 1st time too, and stupidly fat this time. Didn't mean to make you feel bad. all bumps are lovely
