greenfairy - I used to cycle about as much as you before DS arrived and had tons of energy but now I definitely go to bed early (9 pm) and am just walking for exercise. We never got back into the habit of riding as much as we did before but we did make it out on some lovely rides last year with DS in a bike trailer. Don't let yourself get too exhausted - pregnancy is tiring!

thegreenfairy · 04/03/2008 10:49

SA/ Aberdeen - maybe 9.30 would be wiser then. Trouble is, I often don't get home til 7 - by the time I've had dinner the evening has disappeared! Must try to leave work earlier I think.
Nettiehay - your PIL are a bit daft aren't they? Why don't you go off to a UK spa for a couple of days? Better than nothing and you'll love the relaxation.
Am going to the Bath Spa on Friday after work to lounge in the pools. CANNOT WAIT.

dylansmumplusone · 04/03/2008 10:50

morning all! just booked disneyland paris for ds' 2nd bday (going the week before his bday so he's still free for everything tho!) in april on the eurostar for our last family holiday as a threesome. i'm so excited, i really needed something to look forward to. dh is gone to milan to watch arsenal and also has a stag in tenerife at the end of april so was feeling pretty jealous. i read that there are lots of things for toddlers to do and mickey mouse is his absolute favourite character so i think he'll love it. he loves trains too! can't wait!!!!

for a month before my mat leave i used up a week of holiday taking wednesdays off. it broke up the week just when i was really tired and made it go a lot faster. i got to sit on the couch and watch birthing shows all day! i was very bored by the end of my 4 weeks mat leave before ds came though, wish'd i'd have taken 2 weeks. saying that i only had a 15min bus commute so was pretty easy!

nettiehay · 04/03/2008 11:15

Greenfairy - i am jealous of you going to Bath Spa. I love Bath anyway - just wondering around the streets relaxes me! Although I don't think I can 'do' the Roman Baths again - I think I've been there about 4 times in the last 5 years - and they are still the same! I think a UK spa is a good idea - and with DP away, our house will be extra relaxing, as I won't come home to his mess every night! DP is a bit worried about leaving me - however, I'll only be about 30/31 weeks by then so I think I'll be fine. We have friends who live across the road, so they will be under instructions not to go away on holidays while DP is away!

debinaustria · 04/03/2008 11:50

Did any of you see Ski Sunday - it showed our village!!

whinegums · 04/03/2008 11:53

Hi there, am I too late to join in (even though I prefer chocolate fingers to creme eggs)? I've been lurking and posting on some of the other boards up til now. I'm due 20 June with my first baby.

nettiehay · 04/03/2008 12:01

Hi whinegums (love the name!) you've got ages to join in - at least 3 more months yet!

Welcome

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 04/03/2008 12:14

Welcome whinegums!

Re mat leave - I am giving up four weeks on Friday when I'll be 32 weeks, but as I look pretty much full-term already I don't know if I'll be able to last that long.

In a shop yesterday the assistant said to me "so when's this baby due - must be soon!" I said "No, three months!" she said OH MY GOD and literally ran away from me, like I was about to explode or something!

bitofadramaqueen · 04/03/2008 13:15

LOL at your terrified shop assistant Neenz!!!

Hello whinegums - you're due two days before me.

Am very jealous of everyone booking holidays. Me and DH have always loved our holidays, weekend breaks etc, but for various reasons last year was almost a holiday-free zone (hence the January trip to NYC). We've not booked anything for this year though because of the baby. nettiehay - I cant believe your inlaws offered to take you skiing???? Its really nice that they wanted to do something for you, but they could have offered to treat you both to a relaxing weekend away or something so you could have some quality time before the baby arrives.

Anyway, dont have too much chat so will head off for now.

makecakesnotwar · 04/03/2008 13:16

Neenz- you need my new tshirt, which says 'wide load' on it!

GF- 10 o'clock? I'm in bed watching TV by 9 every night and am only awake at 10 if I've had a nap!!! Actually sleep is becoming mre broken, so I'm really starting to feel tired...

Debs- missed ski-Sunday, I'm afraid. Don't know if sugar ban will help but makes me feel better...off to mw so will keep you posted.

Welcome Whinegums, I love chocolate fingers too, but obviously not as much as creme eggs

Dramaqueen - haven't you got a spare weekend when you could get away before the baby? We're going away in May(with boys) - when I'll be 36 weeks , so won't be going far, I want to go to a hotel with half board and a thermal spa.Now we have to find one we can afford!

bitofadramaqueen · 04/03/2008 13:33

Thinking about it Deb - there are lots of lovely places in Scotland not too far away. Actually, DH and I both off work the first week of my leave so could do a little midweek break...

ernest · 04/03/2008 14:13

dump the family and go to a kinderhotel. oh no, they won't let you book without kids. damn.

nettiehay · 04/03/2008 14:13

Dramaqueen - I know! Given my history with them, it's not surprising - the cynical side of me thinks they did it so that I wouldn't go and they'd have DP all to themselves

I am also lucky to be awake at 10pm... more often than not, I am asleep on the sofa by 9pm, and at 10pm DP wakes me and sends me to bed I don't know how all of you do it when you already have kids - I take my hat off to you - you must be permanently tired!

whinegums · 04/03/2008 14:21

Thanks everyone. I think the next 3 months are going to whizz by....

whinegums · 04/03/2008 14:22

Oh, and I put a link on the promotions/offers board yesterday for free Huggies at Sainsburys - it all helps, eh?

aberdeenhiker · 04/03/2008 14:24

I don't know how all of you do it when you already have kids - I take my hat off to you - you must be permanently tired!

yes! And I've only got one (although he's a handful!). Actually I wasn't tired last summer once DS turned one which is why we thought it was time for another...

aberdeenhiker · 04/03/2008 14:25

sorry, that first bit was meant to be in italics...

ktpie · 04/03/2008 14:33

Hello everyone, glad to hear I'm not the only one still struggling with tiredness, not as bad as it was but I still keep falling asleep on the sofa, normally go to bed at 10.30 but often earlier these days.

Is anyone else finding that they get out of breath really easily? My bump has had a massive growth spurt in the last few weeks and I'm not sure if it is the extra effort of carrying it round or that I'm getting really unfit. The only exercise I've done recently is a little bit of walking. I used to be fairly fit and it is a horrible feeling being out of breath after just one flight of stairs!

systemsaddict · 04/03/2008 14:36

Dp keeps coming in when I'm putting ds to bed and finding us both asleep on the sofa in his room I don't know which of us goes off first!! I vaguely remember singing him the wrong words to his bedtime songs last night and him laughing at me so I think last time it was me ... Can't be very safe, holding a heavy 18 month old in my arms over a laminate floor, fast asleep, but I honestly don't know it's happening. And that's only at 7.30 pm!!

katyjo · 04/03/2008 14:40

Hi everyone,

My appointment went really well this morning. BP fine even though I think my hands are swelling up and mw said its normal for your pulse to be high so that's a relief. She could feel the baby properly and said it is head down facing to my left so at least I can work out what part is kicking me now! I don't go back for 3 weeks so I'll be nearly 31 weeks by then - pretty scary!

I better go and check on ds he has been sleeping for nearly 2.5 hrs - not that I'm complaining that is!

katyjo · 04/03/2008 14:43

Yes, ktpie I am really tired and out of breath so easily. Mw took blood to check I'm not anaemic but I think I'm just unfit. Hopefully going to aquanatal classes on friday if I can get ds to stay in the creche! Have to travel to the otherside of Glasgow to find a class with a creche but at least they've got one!

debinaustria · 04/03/2008 14:49

Hi everyone, the snow is back with a vengeance, yesterday the garden was green which is unusual for early March and the bops were playing football , now they're snow clearing and as fast as they clear it's piling up again. It's great news for the skiing and the guests but a pain for my early appointment at the Drs tomorrow.

I am also shattered, went to bed at 10 last night, ds appeared at 4 and crept in with us, woke up with the alarm. This morning I've been cleaning( kitchen and 4 bathrooms) and washing. Not a huge amount but I could just curl up for an hour. Problem is I'm waiting for our very unreliable hairdresser. I reminded her yesterday about the appointment but no sign of her yet!If I knew she wasn't coming I could have a sleep.Better call her and see.

debinaustria · 04/03/2008 14:49

oh yes I'm out of breath too, also live quite high too so the altitude also makes a difference.

debinaustria · 04/03/2008 14:50

boys were playing football not bops!
