Wow - thequietone that is SO exciting. Good luck, I will have everything crossed for you and your little one. Be sure to come back and post your birth announcement when you're up to it.

Do you know if you are having a girl or a boy? I am very jealous

thequietone · 24/02/2008 13:34

Hi MMH,
I don't know what I'm having! My little boy (3) has just woken up so I'#m going to spend some quality time with him now before I have to say goodbye (sniff). 6 days away from him It's going to be agony.

turtle23 · 24/02/2008 13:43

Oh thequietone! Good luck with your section and enjoy these last few moments at home with your DC. Congrats!

monthlymayhem · 24/02/2008 19:59

Congrats SHH and good luck thequietone!

spugs · 24/02/2008 20:41

congratulations marchmum and hayles

good luck for tomorrow quiet one

still 4 weeks to go here and i reckon im in for the long haul

tori32 · 24/02/2008 21:47

congratulationsSHH!
Hope all went well thequietone can't wait to find out your news x

On the tens machine then going into the pool, the physio could have described my experience to a T. I lasted on a tens at home for 27hrs, got into the pool at 5cm and rapidly lost the plot! I went through 5 cannisters of gas and air in the proceeding 6hrs until I went in to hospital and had an epidural. My advice would be to keep the tens on if it is working well for you.

tori32 · 24/02/2008 21:50

PS spugs I've got 4 wks as well and definately in for the long haul also. I haven't even had any BH or I haven't noticed them!

Well the living room is now officially 'nested'! (hoovered, vaxed, skirting boards and door frames washed, windows......... Just the rest of the house to go

JFly · 24/02/2008 22:02

Wow, congrats SHH and good luck quietone! So exciting. Can't wait for more news. Keep 'em coming!

skidoodle · 24/02/2008 22:08

good luck thequietone, can't wait to hear your news tomorrow.

tori thanks, that's really helpful to know. I guess if something's working probably best to stick with it until you feel the need for something else.

Hello ladies. My waters broke at 22:45 yesterday and I am just back from the hospital. No dilation as yet and mild sporadic contractions, so hopefully things will move along in the next 24 hours.

It was very weird when the waters broke. I was lying on my side on the sofa and felt very strong period like pains, then this big gush of water came flying out and I ran to the toilet. Tip for the ladies going to hospital after their waters break, take spare trousers and a pack of pads with you as you keep leaking. Not very pleasant.

Will report back soon.

Gosh - it is all happening on this board now. Good luck Brazilianmum and "thequietone"!

spugs, tori - I'm due in 4 1/2 weeks and am trying to gear myself up for it being at least 5. I'm still half expecting an April baby. Marchmum and SHH may have 6-7 week old babies and be old hands by the time I get to meet mine!

Having said all that, things do feel like they are getting closer.

I had a really uncomfortable day of BH yesterday having not really felt them at all until about a week ago. Plus the baby has also been majorly active this past week. Having spent 6 weeks head down with his back to the front and left - i.e. textbook position - he has suddenly started shifting position every day. Having got used to where his limbs and back are, I suddenly can't work out where any bit of his body is! All I can think is that he is trying to find a comfortable position before engaging, and I wish he would find it soon as it is really really uncomfortable as he doesn't have much room to make big movements like that and the rest of my body feels like it is getting shifted out of the way! After him being so good for so long, I'm also now paranoid about him ending up in a back to back position so am spending much of the day leaning on a birthing ball or lying on my left side. I just want to slob on the sofa with my feet up!

fitnfortyone · 25/02/2008 10:01

ooh Brazilianmum fingers crossed you don't have to wait too long!
thequietone, you probably won't have time to catch up on posts what with something else important happening, but if you're lucky you may not have to spend 6 days away from your other LO!

Haven't been able to sleep last couple of nights for more than an hour at a time it seems - no BH or anything like that waking me up, just can't get comfy. But have finally got cradle moved next to bed which fits exactly in the available space (phew!) - it's one of the moffii oberons so the frame has quite a big footprint. Got a pile of ironing and washing up to do today, then make some room here in the living room for the travel cot which DH can move tonight. Think once that's done it's all systems go...except i don't want to go into labour until after 4.30pm Weds when they finish resurfacing the road outside! Got lots of lovely diggers rolling past outside since 8.30 this morning - the dog is having a great time sitting on top of the sofa watching all the action.

CricketsMum · 25/02/2008 10:09

Babies everywhere! Very exciting - starting to make it all seem a bit more real! Good luck Brazilianmum and TheQuietOne...

Am due 3 weeks tomorrow but given that both me and DH's big sister were 11 days late and induced I suspect I am still in for a loooong wait... although given the state of LO's bedroom (only half plastered and floored, let alone painted, cleaned, stocked etc) that might not be a bad thing! Am very jealous of all the BH that people are getting - not sure that I have had any yet!

piggyp · 25/02/2008 10:11

Goodluck Brazilianmum and thequietone!

39 weeks today - wow! Had a really awful day yesterday; backache, v strong bh and a bit temperature-y. DH was very unsympathetic and grumpy with me, resulting in many tears! Was fully expecting 'things' to start in the night! Seem to be back to normal today though, maybe I overdid my final bit of nesting on Saturday! Just going to pregnancy yoga (last one I think!) and do knitting today.

turtle23 · 25/02/2008 10:43

This is great, isn't it? All these babies one after another!! Good luck, Brazilianmum!
I am only 36+1 today, so I am bound to beone of those in April too. Would love to go at 38 weeks though...

ibblewob · 25/02/2008 10:50

Sorry, have been a bit of a lurker on this thread - just wanted to say good luck BrazillianMum and thequietone. Am a bit as am 39+1+a bit fed up so can't wait! Hope it all went really well.

Am also finding that the only comfy clothes at the moment are my pyjamas! Have grown out of most of my maternity clothes Has anyone else found this? Really doesn't help with trying to get things done and running round after a 2 year old. DH is very good mostly, but even he is a bit if I haven't got dressed all day!

merryberry · 25/02/2008 11:04

Had a sweep this am to try to shift along too-big baby at 39+1. Didn't hurt too bad, cervix favourable.

Threw up again this am. Very sick and tired most of time. Have just negotiated help for week with DP off of work at critical times etc.

Bored, want to go out for a nice meal, or shopping. A nice browse around a bookshop...too shaky to risk it though.

Good luck brazilianmum!

3madboys · 25/02/2008 11:16

hello all, well i am back after a night on the labour ward so they could moniter me, turned out my blood pressure was up slightly, only 120 over 80 so still low but normally mine is 90 over 50 (great if you like fainting all the time) so they kept me in monitered the baby, took some bloods, wee etc all came back ok. then once they had ruled out pre eclampsia they wanted to rule out meningitis as i didnt like having the light on. in the end they said it was a migraine and gave me some stronger painkillers, i then spent all day yesterday in bed (dp took time off work) and today i feel better, but really wacked, i am ready for this baby to arrive now i think, its due on friday but is fully engaged and the gp and midwife seem to think its good to go, gonna get a sweep on thursday and then persuade dp that sex is a good idea that night and maybe this baby will turn up on its due date? unlikely but its got to be worth a go.....

derah i know exactly what you mean about wanting peace and quiet, i had a house full of visitors at 38wks and i too had to escape of to bed for a bit as its just too much. i hope your visitors are helpful and do stuff around the house for you.

good luck to the lady whose waters have broken, sorry i have forgotten your name

monthlymayhem · 25/02/2008 11:55

Good luck Brazilianmum, hope things are progressing!

Cricketsmum, we must be due date buddies (18th March)? My mum also went 11 days over with me, so I wouldn't be surprised if I'm still pg 4 weeks from now!

Am loving being on mat leave now, although hands are shrivelled and blistered from all the cleaning..

MumOfBillyTheKid · 25/02/2008 12:50

Wow - I go away/offline for a few days and it all happens!

Congratulations March(Feb)Mum and SHH.

Good luck Brazillianmum and hope it all went well thequietone!

3MB - glad to hear migraine gone and nothing more serious! We have visitors coming this w/e...hmm - will try and just chill out!

I will be 37 weeks tomorrow - no nasty BH (just a few gentle tightenings), so I expect i'll be one of the last ones to drop - just worked out due date + 2 weeks (if induced) is April Fool's day

No nesting instinct yet (have net curtains here to put up but not got round to it yet!) - too busy meeting up/doing lunch/shopping! I WILL pack my hospital bag today...honest!

skidoodle · 25/02/2008 13:35

best of luck brazilianmum

too tired to write more. working at 38 weeks maybe not best idea.

tori32 · 25/02/2008 13:50

Good luck Brazilianmum! Sooo much happening now I am struggling to keep up.
