I was just wondering how many are there of us . . .

I am due end of June and love my antenatal thread as there is so much good advice there but thought it may be nice to share a little with others who are new to this whole thing too.

Anyone interested?

NikNakF · 11/03/2008 11:23

Hi guys,

MrsHOP - congrats!! I've not heard of the check either, but maybe they do it as routine!

Either way, yay on your scan x

TJuice · 11/03/2008 12:48

makecakes - your babyshower sounds fab! i just wheedled my colleague zoe into throwing me one, but in my own flat. we were going to do a girl tea-party anyway, so i guess it will be a mixed event with cups cakes and some baby talk.

I can't believe you are 11 weeks away! its incredible how fast time has gone. bet you are looking bumpalicious now.

carrie - never heard about the phlegm thing but i am snottier than normal so i wouldn't be surprised. it could be all the milk i am drinking too.

i feel like i am about to pop these days, especially after eating - everything is so packed in, if you know what i mean.

Yes, the dream could be a premonition - I'm sure my mother will make loads out of it as she's really into analysing dreams!

Carrie - I have heard that you do get more phlegmy in pregnancy and that avoiding milk and fresh orange juice can help but then we need milk for the calcium and I couldn't live without orange juice at the moment!

TJuice - know how you feel. I'm walking around as though I'm 8 and a half months preggers. Think it's time I started pushing for seats on the train now!

MrsHOP · 11/03/2008 17:45

Got offered a seat this morning on the tube by a girl(really loudly and angrily - I think she was annoyed no-one else had offered!) - I was surprised at how embarrassed I felt!

I think people are much less aware of their surroundings these days, what with all the free reading material and ipods on the go.

PS NikNak & Chika, my work emails have been screwed today so if you have emailed me can you send it on again?!? xx

Kaz1967 · 11/03/2008 18:08

Well still don't know if bump is a Rocky or a Rockette as they got stage fright crossed their legs and hid their face in one of my fibroids but every thing appeared to be in the right place the only thing she could not be 100% sure of is that there was no cleft lip but if there is so what in the great scheme of things that is nothing so fine

Anyway I like surprises

carrieHD9 · 11/03/2008 19:09

Hi all, thanks for advice about phlegm reassuring to know others heard of this, think you may well be right TJuice I'm drinking loads more milk than normal and also Miss Chika currently making loads of homemade juices to fight the phlegm- may not be helping! Had a huge coughing fit in car today as I was leaving a meeting, so much came up had to spit into a paper bag, just as a very high up person came out of the building and saw me doing this- nice!

Kaz, we don't know sex either so also looking forward to a surprize- it's a bugger for clothes shopping though- 99% resolutely pink or blue! Congrats on scan though, and you too MrsH.

I've suddenly got more cumbersome and unwieldy too, god knows what it'll be like at nearly nine months- will need a winch by then!

Miss Chika you're dream is strange! you must tell us what your mum makes of it!? Is anyone having forward flashes to all the ways in which they will do something terrible, I keep seeing myself tripping and dropping the baby, but not even dropping the baby going in some sort of comedy cartoon arc through the sky, 100ft up....

babybump08 · 11/03/2008 21:22

Hi, I'm new to 'mumsnet'.
I'm 13 weeks, had my first scan yesterday...that was a crazy experience yet amazing. I still find it hard to believe this little thing is growing inside me.

It's nice to read about other peeps experiences and reasuring too.

Is anyone else due round September time?

babybump08 · 11/03/2008 21:27

I know how you feel about about the 'phlegm' problem its horrible. Does it end anytime like the sickness?????

I've had really bad sickness the past two months and this phlegm problem isn't helping it go away.

When will the glow stage come?????

Kaz1967 · 11/03/2008 21:29

Welcome babybump08

It is amazing isn't it I still find it amazing there is really a little person growing inside me

babybump08 · 11/03/2008 22:09

Hey Kaz

Yeah it really is Seeing it kick and move around yesterday I was desperate to feel something...i'm so inpatient
What week are you in?

Kaz1967 · 11/03/2008 22:26

I am 21+4 today and have been feeling movements for quite a while but I am fairly unusual, I suspect it may be my fibroids that helped initially. It is really subtle initially felt like a very faint tickle or bubbles popping inside some people talk about it feeling like wind but wind for me is always painful LOL Now it feels like Rocky is doing somersaults and once when I did something they really did not like I got a very very definite kick.

babybump08 · 11/03/2008 22:32

haha the cheeky lil one, I've heard that if they don't like something youv'e done they let you know or maybe read it somewhere (I've read so much stuff recently).

Wind is always painful for me too so hopefully i'll be able to tell when the time comes.

Congratulations by the way...do you know what your having?

Kaz1967 · 11/03/2008 23:06

No I did ask but they were too shy today to show us legs tightly crossed and face hiding behind a fibroid so at the moment I am having a surprise LOL

Part of me is convinced it is a girl like the little one I lost it is as difficult as me LOL several friends and one of my midwives say a boy because it misbehaves (played hide and seek with one midwife when she tried to find heart beat first time)

Surprises are fine it is enough to know they are well and there is nothing structurally wrong the only thing she was not able to totally check was for a cleft lip because they were hiding but in the scheme of things what is a cleft lip?

makecakesnotwar · 12/03/2008 08:58

Morning all and welcome newbies...

re: phlegm, mine started a couple of weeks ago and shows no sign of leaving, nor the stuffiness, nor the snoring (according to dh...but I do wake with a sore throat and dry mouth and end up drinking gallons in the middle of the night so I don't think he's lying)...the joys they don't tell you about!!!

Waiting in for my new mattress (baby) and taking it easy- SPD flared up big style after I did too much at work yesterday.

NikNakF · 12/03/2008 13:06

Congrats on sacn Kaz!

Hi babybump!

Re: Phelgm - it is DISGUSTING - I am always hoicking and snorting, I thought I was a refined lady. No way, not anymore.

MissC/MrsH - will email again x

MrsHOP · 12/03/2008 13:11

morning

wanted to share my revelation this morning - my nips seem to have double in size overnight

they have been hurting in a strange way for the last fortnight or so, and lo and behold, there they were! you could hang a couple of coats off em! suddenly thinking about thin tops in summer and maybe I need to get myself some sort of extra lining

how is everyone today? I have only told family and friends (and you lot) about it being a boy, mainly because everyone at work is so opinionated about pregnancy (lots of mums here). I think my mum is a bit disappointed it's not a girl, my stepdad is delighted though, he is a mechanic and is planning to get matching overalls...

xx

LilyToTheB · 12/03/2008 13:51

Afternoon All!

welcome babybump! Congrats on the pregnancy

Mrshop - overnight? woah, have we all got that to look forward to then? How far along are you?
Hee hee, agree on the extra lining thing though, maybe some breast pads when you're wearing flimsy white dresses in the summer would help!

Had a really bad night's sleep, the weather's so bad the noise of the wind kept me awake, then had such a dry mouth had to drink loads, which resulted in going to the loo loads!
Felt baby wriggling around at about 4.30am for a while though! Hardly felt it much, but this was definitely baby wriggles! I didn't mind being awake then

MissChika · 12/03/2008 14:14

Afternoon ladies!

Welcome babybump and any other newbies!

MrsH - my nips have also got huge and so dark! Don't think I'll be wearing any flimsy tops come summer! As I'm normally pretty flat chested the fact that they have now taken over quite a lot of the surface area of my boobs is quite freaky!!

Is anyone else obsessed with their baby movements (for those who have started feeling movement)? As soon as I feel anything I have my hand straight on my tummy. It's starting look odd in meetings!!

LilyToTheB · 12/03/2008 14:50

I know what you mean about being obsessed with baby's movements! I think it's because I was so anxious about not feeling it move for so long, that I'm really looking out for it, then like you MissChika put my hand on my belly straight away to feel for more! hee hee

Kaz1967 · 12/03/2008 15:43

MissChika oh me too couple of weeks ago in collage my tutor thought I was about to say something. Nope someone was squirming inside me that totally took my concentration away

MrsHOP · 12/03/2008 16:41

I love feeling the movements now, it's pretty reassuring isn't it
have got over the shock of my boobs now, guess it's the first of many body shocks to come!!

new scan piccie on my page if anyone wants to see - it was wriggling too much for a decent body shot....

MissChika · 12/03/2008 16:52

It is very distracting and you're right MrsH - reassuring too. At the moment it's great when the baby is going mad in there but I'm sure this will become a bit of a pain when the bump is much bigger. I am looking forward to being able to identify limbs and feet though!

Have just had a look at your scan pic MrsH - looks very much like mine. The little bean was too cosied up to the placenta to get a good image.

Kaz1967 · 12/03/2008 19:46

Glad it is not just Rock who was difficult to photograph

carrieHD9 · 12/03/2008 21:57

Hi all,

MrsH/ MissC- yep, also obsessed with movements- wee thing spends most of day wriggling around- it is lovely, though I actually saw my tum move in a meeting a week or so ago, which entirely threw me off! Also have huge nipples- was hoping for huge breasts- no such luck so far- but nipples enormous!

Makecakes- I'd forgotten to say anything about the snoring- oh my god! Having teased/ bollocked partner about his snoring the whole time we've been together, I am now the proverbial train. In the morning in that wierd half waking phase I can hear myself snorting, it's like a trip to the farm....!

getting my first stretchmarks too, funny vertical ones- how are everyone elses doing?

baiyu · 12/03/2008 22:09

Hello there, this looks like a lovely friendly thread, mind if I join you ladies? I'm 32 weeks, feeling like a whale and eating ridiculous amounts! Getting very excited now, only 8 weeks to go. Don't know the sex as it's policy not to tell you where I am. I want to know! I'm pretty convinced it's a boy but not sure why. Hope everyone's having a great evening
