hi there

any fellow mums around the midlands due like me in aug 2008,we live in birmingham in the west mids there.

this is our long awaited 2nd child after over 3 yrs ttc we have 1 daughter 6 yr next month

i seen the midwife today for the 1st time at home

i have to have a hosp birth with this 2nd child as my 1st was a emergency c-section would have prefered to try a home birth ,i need to ring the gp monday as they need to refer me to the hosp of my choice b,ham women,s as midwife can only refer me to heartlands&solihull ,so once thats done i will be booked for a scan around 12-14weeks.

what stage are you at now ?

be great to get to know some fellow bump buddies

Hello,

Firstly Congratulations!!! I have three childrem so I know just how exciting being pregnant can be. I have recently given birth to another labour of love.... my website

if anyone could spare a few minutes to take a look at www.harmoniousbirth.co.uk.

I am a birmingham based Doula and student antenatal teacher. I have just set this website up to promote my role and I was wondering if you could give me some feedback on anything else you would want to know or would like to see on the site.

thanks in anticipation

Toni

Hello. I'm midlands based (South Staffordshire) but I'm not due until November. Hope it's ok for me to join in (thread title says 'due in August').

I can also recommend the benefits of active birth, having used hypnobirthing techniques last time. I wasn't able to attend any classes as there don't seem to be any near me (one of the downfalls of not living near a city, I suppose) but I did read Marie Mongan's book and listened to the CD that came with it.

I'll definitely look at your site, DoulaTC. If you know of any active birth or hypnobirthing classes running in my area, I'd be grateful if you could let me know!

Hope all of the other midland mums to be are doing well and out of the 'knackered and nauseous' stage, which I've just started!

Creena · 21/03/2008 12:24

DoulaTC - I like your site and I think it's helpful and informative. I like the idea of adding lnks to your site too and wonder whether you're planning on extending this part of the site. You could include sites for hypnobirthing, aqua-natal exercise, water babies classes and even mumsnet!

I'm thinking of using the services of a doula this time around and I wonder how far you travel - do you only cover the Birmingham area? This is my fourth baby and my last so I want the birth to be as positive and stress free as possible. My other three births were hospital births and although they all resulted in beautiful, healthy babies, I found being in hospital difficult and stressful. My last birth could easily have been quite traumatic as a result of the lack of care I received and I still feel upset about it now, almost 11 months later. I would really like a home birth this time and will be talking over the possibility of doing this with my community midwife at my booking in appointment next Wednesday. I know that midwifery resources are very sparse where I live (we used to have a team of six midwives for this area and now there are just two) and I'm worried that this will be given as a reason why I can't have a home birth. I think I might need to look into how far I can go to insist on a homebirth as I really don't want to go back to hospital again.

Gosh - that turned out to be a big post! Sorry about that!

iliketosleep · 23/03/2008 13:15

oooh im in the midlands (wolverhampton) and due the 17th august hi!!

Creena · 23/03/2008 20:08

Hi there, iliketosleep. I'm not far from Wolverhampton - just outside, in South Staffs. I'm not due until November though, so I'm dealing with yucky morning sickness and feeling knackered all of the time now. Hopefully, you've left all that behind now!

iliketosleep · 24/03/2008 10:47
