hi there

any fellow mums around the midlands due like me in aug 2008,we live in birmingham in the west mids there.

this is our long awaited 2nd child after over 3 yrs ttc we have 1 daughter 6 yr next month

i seen the midwife today for the 1st time at home

i have to have a hosp birth with this 2nd child as my 1st was a emergency c-section would have prefered to try a home birth ,i need to ring the gp monday as they need to refer me to the hosp of my choice b,ham women,s as midwife can only refer me to heartlands&solihull ,so once thats done i will be booked for a scan around 12-14weeks.

what stage are you at now ?

be great to get to know some fellow bump buddies

cheers

TreadmillMom · 24/01/2008 11:43

Me too, I'm in South B'ham, due 23rd Sept.
At my surgery you have to see GP first, going in the morning so don't know at this stage when I'll see MW.
Have 2 boys already 4 and 2.
Forgot how chronically tired you are in the beginning, sneaked off to the lady's at work yesterday for a 30 minute snooze.
God I needed it.
Don't usually suffer from MS, soore boobs etc, just a bit of stomach cramp and it seems 3rd time lucky on that score.
Congratulations to you both, where are you based?

Good Morning Ladies,
Looking ahead to the birth I can highly recommend the Lyndsey Clarke Active Birth Classes held at Shirley Baptist Church on the Stratford Road.
I attended her classes in my 2nd pregnancy and its a little like Yoga, with breathing exercises.
Her tuition helps with relaxation, getting baby into the ideal birthing position and pain coping strategies.
I cannot speak for anyone else who was in the class with me but I gave birth to DS2 without any pain relief, not even gas and air and I totally credit the strategies that I'd been taught by her.
Will be signing up again for a refresher.
Wait until later in your pregnancy, say about 30 weeks then it'll be fresh in your head and you can practice at home up until the big day.
I attended evening classes but I'm sure they're also available in the day.
Postnatal she also does a Post Natal Exercise and Baby Massage club but I didn't attend those.

sarahnh · 28/01/2008 10:44

that sounds great treadmillmom, i live just off the stratford road so won't be far to waddle!!!xxx

mum2go · 28/01/2008 19:12

Lyndsey Clarke.
Also see Eau Baby, its very informative and the section The Comparative Benefits of an Active Birth gives great insight into labour in an upright position as opposed to labour on your back.

mum2go · 30/01/2008 09:34

hi there treadmillmom thanks very much for the info,
i do think these classes should be mandatory unless you specify you dont need them,

Hi, as someone was talking about Lyndsey's classes, who I know 'cos we swap leaflets)I thought I'd be a bit cheeky too. There are new antenatal music classes for mums starting up very soon. They've already been running in Strichley for two years and now I'm doing them. I live in Shirley too, but have had four "bundles of joy" and am definitely not having any more! Good luck with all your babies to be!

mum2go · 02/02/2008 15:16
