@PurplePansy05 there’s no smell but I mix the gaviscon with breast milk so maybe it is the formula. We still use infacol - not sure if it actually does anything but might try stopping it to see what happens

lucyrp · 24/09/2021 16:18

@PurplePansy05 fyi formula sick stinks compared to BM sick 🥴 yes I think mam are a firm favourite on here and definitely of mine. We use the mam dummies and breast shields too. NUK 0-2 dummies are great too. I'm so glad I have Amazon prime as I buy so much off of Amazon 🤣xx

dirtyfries · 24/09/2021 16:22

@PurplePansy05 @lucyrp I've lost count of the amount of times I've thought to myself how did people used to do this before Amazon prime 😂

sarah13xx · 24/09/2021 17:30

We use size 1 mam too (6 weeks) 😊 Going to try the size 2 teats when hes 2 months but he’s a fast drinker as it is and is occasionally sick shortly after so not sure how that will go. He’s had blisters on his lips on and off and I have to put lanolin on them every day, maybe because he’s sucking so hard. Hoping they’ll get better when I switch to the size 2s

sarah13xx · 24/09/2021 17:31

There is rarely a day goes by that I don’t order off Amazon prime 🙈 I dread to think what it would come to if I added it all up in a month and it’s always such silly wee things that I’d have nothing to show for it 😂

Ready2020 · 24/09/2021 20:13

Just a big up for the copper coil. I had it for years before ttc. I did have heavier periods but manageable and after the post birth bleeding they are nothing! It was nice not having hormones in my body. I'll be getting it again once healed.

OH is on night duty tonight. DD hasn't had a bottle in a few days as nap times just fitted in with my naps so they weren't needed. Hope she takes the bottle OK for OH tonight. I bought a mam bottle to try out as I liked the teat shape better but OH got annoyed at me wasting money as we have tommee bottles we got from his brother. I want him to use mam bottles so the boob to bottle isn't as confusing but he says she takes the Tommy ones fine. So, I dunno. If he uses Tommy there is no point adding a different teat into the mix as well as the dummy.

Went to baby sensory class today and really liked it. DD slept well for the afternoon after it as well which is a win. She's being walked to sleep now by OH.

Baby massage class is booked for Monday too!

afictionado · 24/09/2021 20:16

Had an odd day yesterday, usually DS2 is very contented and sleepy during the day and then is very unsettled and cries/feeds lots between 5-9pm. Yesterday he instead was contented but awake for most of the day, and then slept from mid afternoon through his usual witching hours and continued when we went to bed. But then he woke up a lot more frequently overnight and was very unsettled. 😭 I'm not sure which I prefer, avoiding the evening screaming or getting more sleep. I'm guessing because he didn't do his usual cluster feeding he couldn't do the longer stretch of sleep he usually does once he goes down in the evening. Not that it matters what I prefer really, as he's the one who ultimately decides when he'll sleep, regardless of my preferences. 😅

I was also so excited by feeling back to normal in the last few days that I overdid it and my pelvic floor has given out again. So sick of not being able to be as active as I was before, and I feel terrible every time my toddler asks to be picked up and I have to say no. He's been struggling with the adjustment to DH going back to work which doesn't help (he worked from home for a few weeks after his leave ended but is now in the office again). Which is a long-winded way of saying that we haven't tried to have sex yet, and I'll probably be holding off for a few more weeks. My midwife prescribed us an enormous box of condoms so we'll be all set when I do feel ready though. 😂 I hate the smell of latex but definitely not going back on the pill.

Whew, that was a long post all about me. Hope everyone else is doing well and getting lots of smiles. Has your husband recovered from his deathly illness yet, @Smurf123?

Ready2020 · 24/09/2021 20:45

Do you think it's possible to hurt a babies hearing? OH always puts the white noise machine (used to be Spotify on our phone but got a Dream Egg) into the bassinet with DD in the evening while she sleeps in the lounge. It's not on loud but it's above her head and the worrier in me thinks it's too close to her ears.

sarah13xx · 24/09/2021 20:48

We have never used condoms, I was always on the pill. So we don’t even have any in the house. I was meant to be phoning the doctors this week about going back on the pill but still haven’t done it. I’ll need to wait til I get my period anyway to take the first one (really hoping it holds off til after my first night out tomorrow night 🙈). But part of me thinks maybe I should try and have sex again just to get the first one out the way. Wondering if that’s a bad idea though when I’m not back on the pill yet, obviously we’d do everything possible to avoid me getting pregnant (without being too graphic in what I’m saying here😂). But is that a bad idea? Should I just wait a few weeks til I’m on the pill? It’s not that I’m even desperate to restart it at all, I’m just thinking it’s been a good 3/4 months at least and I’d rather end that drought sooner rather than later 😂

lucyrp · 24/09/2021 21:09

We've never used condoms either and I bloody hate them but the thought of hormonal contraception makes me want to cry. I will choose something but need to have a look into what first. I was on the depo injection before ttc but it made me fat and depressed which I didn't realise until I came off it. It also made me very dry downstairs and my libido plummet which wasn't great. I'm maybe thinking about the pill as I used to be on that and didn't notice any changes but I wasn't very good at taking it on time so would have to be religious with that. Or the patch does anyone have experience with that?

Smurf123 · 24/09/2021 21:11

@afictionado no he's still dying. He manages just fine at work all day and to play computer all night yet for the hour he spent inside the living room when he came home is spent listening to him huffing and puffing and complaining. It's his night to put ds to bed and he spent our morning at ds to hurry up told ds his head hurt too much to do his normal 2 stories and could only do one. Ds kissed his head and said there all better. Dh replied that it only made it a Little better. Wise up he's 3 and read 2 stories they are not exactly long!
I think I'm going to keep a diary for a day of each and every thing I do for a day and then shove it down his throat the next time he remarks that he does everything in this house (he does the washing by that I mean shoves the clothes in the machine possibly then the tumble dryer and then abandon them in a basket for days on end until I eventually give in and fold/ put them away, anything else he does is only done for himself) I'm pissed off tbh. He keeps saying things like yea well your off work all day. Like actually??

I've gone back on the mini pill I don't really want to but I don't like The idea of the coil. And last time I was on it I managed not to have any periods at all which was at least one benefit

Smurf123 · 24/09/2021 21:24

Sorry for the rant!

@Ready2020 I think it will be ok.. my dog goes ballistic when anyone comes into the house so I certainly hope it isn't doing any harm to hearing!

PurplePansy05 · 24/09/2021 22:18

@Smurf123 My dog does this too, I am raging inside when he does that! Love him to bits, but he's a dick sometimes! I too hope it hasn't hurt DS's hearing.

I think you deserve Cake and this Brew and then this Wine. If my DH said that line to me, he'd be sleeping on a doormat, outside Wink xx

PurplePansy05 · 24/09/2021 22:26

Re non-hormonal coil, has anyone had it fitted having previously had really heavy periods anyway? I have always had heavy periods and it would be hard to imagine them getting worse.

@sarah13xx I was told by the MWs that you're super fertile after giving birth. However, I heard the same after each of my MCs before and it was just full of shit. I would say though, it's true that you don't actually know when you might ovulate now, so it's quite tricky not to use contraception, even if you're very cautious. Trouble is if you were to get pregnant, there's a good chance you'd need another CS in less than a year and that's far from ideal. The strain of another pregnancy and CS on your body so soon after would be big. To me personally it's not worth the risk and I couldn't relax as a result which would defeat the purpose. xx

Daffodil21 · 24/09/2021 22:38

@PurplePansy05 I conceived twice immediately after a mc but I guess it's not that common!

Smurf123 · 24/09/2021 22:39

@PurplePansy05 oh im seriously tempted except then that would mean he would get another full night off uninterrupted sleep!

Smurf123 · 24/09/2021 22:46

Is anyone else having difficulty getting nappies in the shops? I don't know is it a brexit thing or a covid thing ?
Went to Tesco for nappies and wipes - no size 2 nappies in any brand. No size 1,2 or 3 in pampers. I've ended up getting size 3 Fred and flo ones which say from 4kg so dd is in the weight range just. But they don't feel anywhere near as soft as the pampers and they don't have the wetness indicator which I like.
Also no Ellas fruit pouches of any sort except purple which is the one ds won't eat.. there has rarely been any for weeks now. Ds is fussy as get out when it comes to food at least I know he gets some goodness in the pouches.

PurplePansy05 · 24/09/2021 22:51

@Daffodil21 I did after one only to have another one. It did not happen immediately after the other 2 - and looking at the MC chats you're totally right, it isn't common to conceive immediately. There's also a higher risk of MC then if the lining hasn't fully recovered yet, for example after D&C or MVA, but this isn't the first thing health professionals will ever tell you. I'd think a similar consideration would apply after a full term birth too when the hormones are raging.

@Smurf123 Grin He's definitely in a dog house tonight, isn't he Grin he's made his bed though! xx

sarah13xx · 24/09/2021 22:52

@PurplePansy05 yeah maybe I’ll just give it a miss 🙈 I’m really not actually wanting to either so it’s really not worth that risk just for the sake of getting back into it 😂 Hopefully get a doctors appointment next week and my period comes back

PurplePansy05 · 24/09/2021 22:53

@Smurf123 No issues in Wales. You're in NI though aren't you? Brexit is particularly shambolic for you guys there, I wouldn't be surprised if this was the result xx

sarah13xx · 24/09/2021 22:54

Went to tesco for the first time today with the pram, I usually just walk to the smaller shop but omg the shelves were bare 🤔 didn’t notice the nappies but most shelves were missing a lot of stuff

PurplePansy05 · 24/09/2021 22:58

DH and I said we'll be having a nut roast, Welsh lamb and mussels this Christmas. Certainly a memorable one, might write this down for DS to read one day! Seriously though, what's next, no formula, no baby clothes? The world has gone mad. xx

Daffodil21 · 24/09/2021 23:05

@PurplePansy05 same, one that immediately followed ended in another mc but the second resulted in Elliot, so I'm glad I didn't wait! Getting pregnant so soon after a baby doesn't sound like a sensible idea though! I've been given so many different time frames as to how long to wait after a CS that I don't really know the answer!

No formula? Please don't suggest such a thing - I am buggered without it 😂 we do have a stash of Aldi formula but we haven't tried going back to that yet!

Ready2020 · 24/09/2021 23:09

OH went to get petrol today and the queues were around the road! Never understand this panic buying. There is plenty there for everyone.

We're going out for Christmas Dinner this year. A big family dinner that my sister asked for.

Smurf123 · 24/09/2021 23:14

@PurplePansy05 yea I'm Ni which as you say probably explains it. It's a nightmare🙈
