@Daffodil21 nope, not tried it. Maybe I should!!

@wimbler i'm already overdue so just hoping things get moving soon. Dr said the haemorrhoids have been pushed out by the pressure of the baby so I know I need to get baby out to be able to heal!

Daffodil21 · 29/08/2021 13:12

@Ava50x I had it to help regulate my periods while we were ttc. She said said it can help to induce labour so might be worth a try! I used to hate needles but I actually quite enjoyed it!!

PurplePansy05 · 29/08/2021 13:43

@wimbler I've noticed this re milk in the fridge! But never thought to measure how much fat there is. I agree with you about Haakaa, it is quite watery milk for me too if that makes sense and we use it for top ups not as a replacement to a feed at the moment. The BF consultant recommended this too. I now use Haakaa every time I feed as otherwise I leak everywhere. Great point that this probably makes Leo feed on fatter hindmilk. At this point I'm trying everything! xx

@Ava50x This sounds grim, big hugs Flowers I second acupuncture, it can really help with all sorts of issues. Having said that I'd also have high hopes with reflexology, it's great for digestive problems xx

@wimbler sorry I’ve just caught up! How are you getting on, any joy with the reflux? We were using tommee tippee anti colic but switched to mam 1- we bought a 2 though as we’re using an anti reflux formula now and it recommends a fast flow teat. The anti relfux has been great and given him (and us) relief but he is definitely constipated. Today he did his first poo since Friday and it like play doh texture, so not sure what to do. I really hope the gaviscon is helping, the sickness and discomfort is really tough to deal with! Do you think tongue tie could be making it worse? Thank you for mentioning the 0 teat, we’ll buy that.

@PurplePansy05 sorry you’ve had such a time of it, I can’t add anything that the other ladies haven’t but Leo is lucky to have you and however you proceed, he’ll be happy! I really hope the lactation consultant helps. I understand what you say about grief though, on the night he was born he just would not latch so didn’t eat, he woke up screaming (I’m sure woke the whole ward) he was clearly hungry and he had formula and I was so upset. I was happy he was eating but it felt like we’d failed before we’d even begun. It takes some working through in your head, but it will all work out.
Also so sorry to hear about the infection, how are you feeling now? Makes me wonder, no one has checked my scar since 2 weeks post partum, I have no other meetings with health visitor so my next check is at the GP, which I’ve been told is no longer a 6 week check up but 8 weeks, so assume mine is ok… anyway I digress!

@Ava50x ouch! Sounds so sore. You can get post birth pillows that are basically like little circular water floats to sit on, might that help?

@Ready2020 11oz in one week is great! Bet you were chuffed with that!

@BertieBotts how are you feeling now? Hope the blues have faded.

@Fran919 congratulations! Hope you’re doing well!

@lucyrp ugh car troubles are so annoying, so were you stranded with baby?! Hope car is fixed soon, such a not needed stress!

@Caz1226 congratulations!!!! I was thinking about you this weekend wondering if it was your mucus plug. You must be exhausted, hope you’ve had a chance to rest!

Hope everyone else is well and having a good weekend. I think I’m going to go to bed now!

Smurf123 · 29/08/2021 16:28

@Inmypjsagain can i ask why you swapped from the tommee tippee anti colic? Is what we have too though only use them to try and give the dentinox colic drops / gripe water with a small amount of expressed milk. I keep finding they are leaking though and also dd doesn't seem to like them / seems to struggle to latch on to them but not sure if that's just because it's a bottle or specific to the tommee tippee bottle but am tempted to get different bottles
Does anyone else's baby have baby acne? Any tips for easing it?

Daffodil21 · 29/08/2021 16:59

@Smurf123 yes ours has baby acne. They just said it's normal and to leave it alone. Sometimes it looks worse than others.

Our bottles are also anti colic. They have a little hole in the top of the rear to let the air out. I don't think he has colic so I can't say if they're any good. They are the NUK glass ones if anyone is interested

Ava50x · 29/08/2021 16:59

@Daffodil21 got my reflexology appointment tonight, we'll see about acupuncture tomorrow. I'm ready to try anything at this point!

@Inmypjsagain thanks for the suggestion. I have a doughnut pillow to sit on. Problem is the haemorrhoids are protruding so far out (sorry TMI!) that I am in constant pain, not just when I'm sitting!!

dirtyfries · 29/08/2021 17:17

Hi everyone!

I've been lurking for a while and baby girl was born at 39+4 on the 23rd
Francesca / Frankie

The new born worries are real! Never did I think I would be this obsessed with poos, pees, wind and feed lengths

This thread has been a great comfort Thanks

Inmypjsagain · 29/08/2021 17:18

@Smurf123 we switched because he really seemed to power eating through it and I was told the mam had a slower flow. Also- mam sterilise in the microwave but we were using Milton for tommee tippee and I wondered if it changed the taste of the bottle- sounds silly but thought it might have contributed to the discomfort. The teat itself is a different shape and I think looks more ergonomic but the tommee tippee really looks like a nipple. I think I prefer the mam bottles if I’m honest, feeding is definitely slower through them. Does gripe water work? We wondered if we could use that to try and help with constipation, nhs website says give them some water but google also says water is bad for babies so thought gripe water might be good.

Baby acne- not yet but midwife said use breast milk for everything, if their eyes are gooey, on spots etc. So might be worth a go?

@Ava50x doughnut pillow! That’s the name lol oh I don’t what else to suggest, I’m sure you’ve tried it all, just really hope they pop back in or the pain subsides! Feel for you!

Inmypjsagain · 29/08/2021 17:19

Hi @dirtyfries congratulations!!! Totally with you, I am specifically obsessed with poos 😂 how life has changed

lucyrp · 29/08/2021 17:56

@Inmypjsagain yeah we were stranded with the baby at the side of the road🥺 was lucky as it wasn't far from my mums house so she came to get us and we had a cup of tea and fed and changed Evie at hers before trying to sort the car out. Its still in a field on the side of the road at the moment but hopefully get it from there tomorrow. Having a baby and no car is not fun!

wimbler · 29/08/2021 18:13

@Inmypjsagain he is still grunting lots and night and vomiting after his feeds. We are on gaviscon but not sure if it’s doing too much. Just don’t want him to get constipated but so far he seems ok. Finding it hard to get him to take it though. Mixed it into a bottle of expressed milk last night but he didn’t finish the bottle so he wouldn’t have got a full dose. It really thickened the milk though and the size 0 teat seemed really good. He didn’t vomit afterwards at least!

We use mam bottles because that’s what we used with my daughter. They’re anti colic and they seem good. We cold water sterilise so the self sterilising feature isn’t that important for us. Also if you’re doing several bottles in the microwave it takes longer to to sterilise them that way than in a steam steriliser. The teats are easy to get hold of too in most supermarkets

Ready2020 · 29/08/2021 18:32

Does grunting indicate a sore belly? My DD does this sometimes but didn't associate it with a sore belly. Makes sense if it does. She definitely has her moments where I know to expect a fart or poop explosion as she is uncomfortable and wriggling around.

Smurf123 · 29/08/2021 20:01

@Inmypjsagain thanks I'll maybe try a different type. She just gags on the tommee tippee ones maybe it's too big or something because she can take a Phillips dummy fine.

Not sure whether the gripe water works or not if I'm honest, though I do find she usually does a poo soon after it but maybe just a coincidence.. in the hope that it does in persevering. How old is your ds again? Gripe water can't be taken until they are 1 month old

@Ready2020 I think grunting can sometimes be sore tummy but also can just be baby's way of pushing out wind etc. But babies also seem to be incredibly noisy beings 😂 so grunting might not mean anything too

Inmypjsagain · 29/08/2021 20:55

@wimbler hope the gaviscon gets working for you,
Glad he wasn’t sick after his feed. I don’t really understand how thickening milk helps but I won’t question it. We’ll definitely get the 0 teat. Constipating is unpleasant so I hope your LO avoids it!

@Ready2020 as smurf says it can be but I’m shocked how loud babies are in general so it could just be baby noise.

@Smurf123 the tommee ones are probably bigger in that it’s rounded but mam ones are similar in length but thinner. He’d dribble with tommee Too but doesnt with mam. I’ll buy some gripe water, he is 4 weeks tomorrow so on the cusp of being able to have it x

afictionado · 29/08/2021 22:51

@Ava50x I used Ultraproct. It took a few days but I wonder if since you're still pregnant the weight of the baby might be preventing the cream from being fully effective. Fingers crossed baby arrives very soon so you can start to heal!

Daffodil21 · 30/08/2021 02:27

Anyone else want to punch their snoring partners????! Driving me insane

Ready2020 · 30/08/2021 03:06

Ah mine is in the spare room plus I sleep with one ear plug in if he's in the bed. Send yours packing Grin

I do have a restless baby though. Am I a terrible person if at some point during our half dozing time baby brought up milk and I didn't notice Confused The guilt is high.

Millymay13 · 30/08/2021 04:03

@Daffodil21 ha, just read your comment whilst listening to my husband snoring!

Not sure what’s up with Ethan but he’s so unsettled tonight, we’ve been awake since about 12.15 and just when I think he’s dropping off he wakes again. So tired now 😴

Daffodil21 · 30/08/2021 04:07

I've sent him to the spare room!!!

Daffodil21 · 30/08/2021 04:09

@Ready2020 I also sleep with one ear plug in if he's in the bed but wasn't cutting it tonight. Also would rather not use ear pugs atm as ears are still ringing so can't be a great idea!

Bloody sky box is playing up so hope he guzzles his feed this time!

Smurf123 · 30/08/2021 04:41

I'm with you @Daffodil21
Been feeding since 2am was pretty sure she was asleep when ds shouted mummy so moved dd to Moses basket checked ds who obviously called out in his sleep (dh rolled over as if he didn't hear any of it) misjudged getting back into bed in the dark and knocked into the edge of the Moses basket - not hard or anything .. cue dd waking back up and crying and now back for feed number 2 .. oh and I really need the loo but there was a tarantula in the bathroom that I am not ready to deal with

Smurf123 · 30/08/2021 04:45

@Millymay13 hope he settles for you soon it's so hard when your so tired! That was us last night! Tonight has been better overall

Daffodil21 · 30/08/2021 04:52

Oh no @Smurf123 ! How annoying! Hope everyone settles so you get some rest soon.

It's so much more peaceful now I've kicked DH out - I should have dive this a week ago!

Hoping his next feed is timed ok for me to take him into DH to sort before work, seeing as he will have had a whole night of uninterrupted sleep. Fingers crossed!!
